  1. honestly Steve i wouldn't be too sure the money just doesn't seem to be there and Swindon and Coventry may not even have stadiums soon
  2. in that case stay alone and watch poole, kings lynn wolves and belle vue in a 4 team league Tai Harris Scottie could stay if they'd ride for affordable money
  3. we can't know that for a fact its just as likely to be cost, boring racing, bad overall presentation, etc etc
  4. it didn't last long because the 1st div tracks shafted the 2nd div now the pl is arguably the strongest division maybe the pl should invite tracks to join from the el rather than a merger - that way the more succesful business model of the pl would prevail yes some big names won't race here under those circumstances big deal
  5. I rememberer second halves and people used to say they were meaningless so they were ended If they were to return I would favour a season long Grand Prix like competition where second half final wins garnered points plus two or three reserve scurries
  6. I've said in the past speedway needs to reposition itself as a ten or twelve pound sport and reducer expenses by using cheaper machinery, riders going part time and riding for one team whatever Got totally shot down by many but .....
  7. "As Cityrebel has said, Jim Tebby beating Ivan Mauger was headline news. A second string beating a top rider today is anything but." i remember the fuss when Arnold Haley beat Ivan Mauger - and he was a heat leader!! I think there was a leader in The Times about that one
  8. at the risk of sounding like an old fart - those were indeed the days await your like TWK!
  9. no i disagree - what it says is that top riders met maybe twice a year and maybe sometimes only once during those meetings now they probably meet 6/8 times and more often during the meeting, especially with the intro of nominated heats
  10. we do not know that Lawson was wrong therefore we do not know of any offence i don't want to go on about it because the paramedic clearly had problems but i repeat that the statement does not refute any allegations so the chances of Lawson being punished or it ending up in court are nil and we should now move on people trying to 'score points' for their point of view and by extension their team are only exacerbating the situation. Move on if only for the sake of the individual with problems that are not our business
  11. the statement, although eliciting sympathy amongst those who might read it, does not offer any kind of refutation and clears nothing up. Having said that its probably best to move on.
  12. agreed but it wasn't a fantastic match however - great facility - middle of nowhere as usual for Swedish tracks
  13. i'm not a fan of tatts - especially not on the face/neck but have a look at all the other youth heroes - he'd look out of place among them if he didn't have them I'm afraid its the way of the world right now - but if you want to pass on careers advice to a kid tell them to be a laser surgeon cos they'll all want rid of them in future!!
  14. i really miss seeing riders go round bare headed after the intros - perhaps it could be allowed again with a strict speed limit - i don't remember it being a problem in the past - think its important for especially young fans to see the faces of riders - makes a connection
  15. I do it's called government I don't much like it but it would be anarchy without it
  16. i think you missed - the irony the post has turned into a really really boring diatribe about averages
  17. having just criticised Mr Cross for being negative i feel i must say that Speedway would be unlikely to afford the rent for the Ricoh and i doubt the cash exists within the sport to purchase it lovely idea though -
