  1. And is a Redcar man and was not welcomed there
  2. You might have been better off not mentioning this half of the post
  3. 8 team divisions would give 7 home league matches? How about 23 home league matches with different teams each week
  4. Not properly it hasn't it worked in 1965 and could work if done properly not easy I know
  5. We can go round the houses forever on this I'd love the el to be up there with Swedish and Polish leagues but there isn't the interest in this country at least not at the same level as those countries It would be a massive financial gamble to push the boat out and make the el truly elite and I don't think it's going to happen to be honest Let's be honest who is going to risk hundreds of thousands on such a venture Therefore we need a plan b Mine is to run at an affordable level for 20 or so clubs to form a single division That's my contribution to this debate. Night night all!
  6. The bigger clubs are in el so crowds would be bigger Coventry are always going to get bigger crowds than Buxton regardless of racing quality
  7. Why Monday? So we don't upset Poland or Sweden or Denmark? How about Saturday?
  8. Actually I was referring to the pl which should be 6 Brits min in each team in my humble opinion There are plenty of young riders and not wobblers either You might think that bringing the worlds best riders to the el is the way forward but who is going to take the financial risk? I would suggest no one is Ok what then???
  9. No but it is affordable and it would be more so with fewer foreigners and the attendant plane fares The idea if flying people all over Europe to appear before less then 1000 fans is ludicrous As a business model it's suicide
  10. We'll with all due respect it would be your loss Pl racing is actually superior to el and one big pl would put the sport in this country back on its feet
  11. Would that be Trelawny in south west England!
  12. it didn't go over our heads it just didnt seem sarcastic need more practice
  13. I think he should learn to post outside the box while he's at it
  14. sorry i disagree - once a guest is in a team the fixture is little more than a farce as far as i'm concerned
  15. as soon as Lawson isn't riding for the Bears and a guest is used I'm not interested in the fixture, home or away
  16. I think you failed to detect the humour mate
  17. i don't see why it would - they would only get paid if they rode - you are still paying 7 riders per match admittedly some riders are on retainers, etc so yes an extra expense in that respect
  18. sounds good to me i would cap squads at 10 rather than 12 but otherwise whats not to like? even riders not racing in EL regularly would be prepared to be squad members - 10/12 meetings a year maybe however this solves only one problem - the issue of guests - it doesn't address the lack of crowds and resulting lack of funds to pay for a squad!
  19. work together - how? minimal clashes- how? perhaps if the EL clubs had a pool of du riders they could select the ones available eg 2 du riders per EL team - a pool of 4 or 5 PL riders they can call on allows continuity at PL level and EL level yes the EL teams wouldn't have the same 1 to 7 every week but every rider in the team would be from within their 'squad' there isn't a perfect answer
  20. semantics GB = Cowboy cookie hit the nail on the head
  21. how is this a brownfield site? not sure of the exact meaning but theres no housing or factories
  22. not really - in order for speedway to be unified it has to be at an affordable level - EL seem to have no interest in this so your ire is aimed in completely the wrong direction - I'm sure PL would welcome any EL track BUT on its own, affordable, manageable terms. 200k loss at Eastbourne this year remember - god knows how much elsewhere
  23. When Tim Swales was Middlesbrough boss he used to say that riders could earn a weeks wages in a night from speedway - i suppose nowadays that would be 3-500 quid for an average blue collar job (North East, not Dorset or London), should be feasible from crowds of 500 - 1000
