20/22 team league - 19/21 league matches at home - 6 months worth of fixtures - whats the problem with just keeping it simple
-
sad news but speedway has to accept that this modern world full of nimbys will have to be addressed by making things quieter somehow although i accept that the roar is part of the attraction either that or build tracks in the sticks like quite a few of the Swedish clubs

Charlotte Portman comes across as a bit of a bag

perhaps Milton Keynes might be a better option as a training centre or that place near Burton

Redcar V Rye House (premier League) 4th September
ch958 replied to Shadders's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
who built Redcar then TS? I was under the impression Glyn Taylor did Somerset Redcar and Leicester -
Steve i almost hesitate to reply fearing scorn from all sides but i actually do believe there are enough riders. If you list the number of young men who have drifted away from the sport over the last few years due to lack of opportunity at league level it would come to a fair few. Also if you replaced DU PL riders with riders in NL who should be PL (there are plenty of them who have been there for 2/3 years or more) you could staff teams, albiet with a dilution in strength initially having said that the fast track should be via PL not direct to EL and the likes of Lawson, Cook, etc should be EL exclusively

Belle Vue for exampl would probably only have to lose Zagar and Cook to remain with Edinburgh for them to be a PL team albeit with a very tasty no 1

Is this meant to be a joke

in 68,69 they said there wasn't enough riders to staff the new BL Div2 there was then and there would be this time -
wouldnt argue with much of this but - how about 2 GB fast track reserves (age restricted) - theres still plenty NL riders available no doubling down just doubling up and EL to have a pool of such riders from PL to call on so that no PL team is left short. Where the rider is EL owned the EL club either agree to this or the rider races EL only Definitely needs drop in admission fees - difficult i know but Speedway matches are way way down on most family budget priorities.

well what then?? -
Definitely not the latter

I've always been against it personally but it keeps being mentioned on here as a way forward with play offs at the end so i'm warming to the idea. However when it comes to dividing the teams its quite tricky with so many midlands teams. Would Peterboro and Kings Lynn be north for example? And if so they would miss out on local matches v Leicester unless they were north too in which case they'd miss out on Wolves and Birmingham (if back) Bear in mind 2 leagues of 12/13 would be required - have a go yourselves and see what i mean

Falcace what you say is bold and i agree with you but i don't think there is the courage and vision amongst promoters to carry this out. this is another reason why an independent body is needed to imlplement an overall strategy to take the sport forward without the self interest (quite understandable) of individual promoters. I myself believe a credible league structure is far more important than big names and in any case as someone posted elsewhere they can always be invited to open meetings, test matches, etc you can reply with as many negative jibes as you like but unless you can come up with a better, WORKABLE plan.... -
Shared No. 1 For 2015 El Season?
ch958 replied to pointsmeanplayoffs's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
spot on mate -
you're always complaining about riders going back to the pits after a false start!!! I thought you'd be delighted
-
as i said in another thread as a football referee i would explain to the 2 teams what my style of reffing is - what i'll put up with and what i wont do speedway refs do this? EG you must obey starting marshall first time and the 2 min warning will be strictly adhered to both of those things would help a meeting flow better - one of the things which is constantly mentioned on here. Hans Andersen felt it necessary to go back to the pits after a false start and got caught out. There are those who would say "good"

how about find the cheapest suitable tyres and make everyone use them - one tyre a match lets start saving some bloody money

could someone tell the tories -
But it's so full of stars and big names How can It not be fantastic?

Actually most of them are amateurish and embarrassing and another reason why some new visitors to tracks think it's a joke They should just stick to occasional rider or manager interviews

The general concensus is that one or two nights is a good idea but unworkable because not enough clubs have control over race nights You are correct about promotion and relegation however if the two leagues get closer in strength as is happening it could be a practical thing I myself would love to see this happen but el clubs would have to weaken to pl standard or thereabouts and that's not a popular idea among el fans I think that just about sums up where we are at the moment -
In fact it seems just like bribery!!!
