More On The Decline Of British Speedway

i couldn't agree more with you but finding a profitable model would require the exclusion of some big names from the bigger clubs and without an independent body providing the impetus and direction required you fear it might not happen. and you are quite right if promoters started to make a profit no one would begrudge them the money and of course not relying on greyhound landlords and their lousy low terracing would be great -
Tai Woffinden Misses Next Years El

we should really stop and smell the coffee before its too late - we can not afford the world class talent merge the 2 leagues at pl level or very slightly higher and watch the world class riders in open meetings, GP, etc and for heavens sake find a way of cutting machinery costs in our leagues - let the other leagues/GPs do what the hell they want but we have to find a way to survive and the futility of trying to compete with Sweden and Poland is not the way to survive -
did Newcastle turn them away from the gate when Diamonds were briefly BL? No and fans subsequently accepted Div 2 racing. I respect your opinion but there are "stars" at each level and are appreciated by the supporters. My all time hero is Steve Wilcock - hardly world class but excellent at his level - the only level is saw week in week out. I can't honestly understand the Glasgow point - if they can get a contract with them then great otherwise they accept the going rate. Don't be held to ransom - if they ask for Glasgow money tell them to go ride there - as i said only 7 will get that money.
-
riders can't be forced - there are emplyment laws - plus who would want a rider who doesn't want to be there
-
demands might be sky high but Glasgow can only sign 7 blokes - the rest of the league should pay only what they can afford - if Glasgow win the league by 20 points good luck to them - see what happens to the crowds with 5-1 after 5-1 TBH i don't see the big problem - Eastbourne, Cradley and Birmingham have found an answer and any other track can do the same a competitive league with English mainly young riders - whats not to like frankly

it will be a very ineresting situation if the judicial review finds in his favour. Evans comes out of this with no credit at all but he's been to jail. I think there's much self serving hysteria around this now and plenty of bandwagon jumping. And once again i refer to other footballers who have caused death and ruined families while drunk at the wheel. This is much more serious but i see no bandwagon jumpers there. Why is that do you suppose?

top post!

not exactly feminist is it - objectifying herself as a sex object for male gratification another example of her hypocrisy imo
-
what about the killer drunk driver in goal for Plymouth - isn't that worse? No one's bothered about him, or Lee Hughes a few years ago - they've been allowed to continue Evans served a stretch he has the right to move on and he has every right to continue to claim innocence despite conviction. Appeal judges? Don't make me laugh. I'm afraid Miss webster has no authority to comment on any of this given her clear hypocrisy re the Tyson comment and the grey area of morals that is glamour sex photography

Birmingham Brummies - Has The Come Back Trail Started?
ch958 replied to kitten2502's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
i think in the past promoters wanted to promote the speedway night as an event whereas today they assume a winning team will bring the fans in i think i know which has been the more succesful of the two approaches -
i know it might seem trivial but i think its important. What would a Cradley team operating out of Perry Barr be called, If its called Cradley/ Dudley would sufficient people travel from that area (I'm not too sure how far it is) presumably only a few Brummies diehards would attend. I don't know what does anyone think
-
these were my thoughts exactly - i suppose the sensible merger of the two leagues won't happen then

Stoke Potters Sadly, The Perennial Failures
ch958 replied to iannewsman's topic in National League Speedway
how does it happen that a once first division side (many years ago admittedly), regular NL/PL competitors in the second tier end up as also rans in the third tier. As a neutral who knows nothing about the circumstances i keep waiting for them to rejoin the PL -
i'm not offended i just want the sport to be credible - i don't want to be embarrased by mega bonus double pointers, jokers, etc, etc i agree promotion at a local level is generally abysmal and that needs to be addressed i also agree with the start again from scratch comment but i suspect what i have in mind isn't what you have in mind as far as i'm concerned semi pro with mainly British riders is the way forward - riders people can identify with
-
what you say is of course true but many many people think this was not a fair outcome. It certainly seemed not to be a cut and dried case from what i read and although i do not condone rape or even infidelity there seemed to me scope for reasonable doubt as to his guilt. I wasn't at the trial i know but it was widely reported. the fact that people are disagreeing on various forums shows that a different jury may have reached a different conclusion we have a current young world speedway star who found himself in not dissimilar circumstances not too long ago and his outcome was different. Besides the only link to this forum is Charlie Webster and she has shown herself to be rather hypocritical.

yes the win at all costs attitude has been a bad thing generally - obviously its nice to win but chopping and changing teams every 5 minutes and bending rules is a modern phenomenon in the main and hasn't been helpful. it will be easy to pick this comment off - its not the only reason for the sport's decline - Mr Rising mentioned another, continuity, and thats not the only reason either - its a few things, maybe dozens.
-
you prove he's wrong
-
scumbag....inbreds you seem like a nice balanced guy there are 2 (at least) current pro footballers who have killed people using their cars nobody denied them the right to move on after sentence is served
-
I read she tweeted the other day that she'd run into Mike Tyson and was annoyed with herself because she didn't get a photo or autograph Mike Tyson is a convicted rapist whom she obviously feels is allowed to live the rest of his life after serving a sentence http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014/oct/18/charlie-webster-quit-sheffield-united-ched-evans-return

He and his ilk are one of the problems though It isn't one thing you know it's dozens
-
no i am grasping it and i understand that Europe wide it would be hard to get agreement how about this: if you want to ride in UK you use the cheap bike as specified for the rates on offer - if not ta ta Cost cut the engines and we won't even notice i do agree about marketing, etc but you're asking for investment for that and i doubt anyone would want to risk it and of course - market what? - crap tracks, guests, bog hole stadiums, micky mouse rules, etc etc
-
Poland's a different country, a different culture - the Polish model might not work here - clubs don't own their own stadiums in the middle of cities for one thing - they probably don't have the Nimbys we have I'd rather it died than turned into some kind of WWE freakshow for der kidz
