  1. The big question is 'how much authority will he have?' What happens when someone says 'its my business, I'll run it my way'
  2. Newcastle Select. Perhaps you would prefer the fixture not to take place. Home promoters pay all 16 in an open meeting, relax
  3. I hope there's a strategy for dealing with our friends camping nearby, my experiences with them is they'd get in where a fart wouldn't
  4. why would anyone do this? What a stupid waste of time
  5. the whole thing sounds like a farce to me
  6. I believe Radio station sponsors were the same - free radio ads/ reporting in return for being called Signal Potters, Radio Tees Tigers, etc
  7. as has been said before the problem is the next step up is clogged up with 1st division riders
  8. there's a gag there to do with helmets but I'll leave it
  9. surely you're only responsible for inside the ground, the approaches are someone else's problem (council?)
  10. I'm sure people wd be happy starting with a bare bones operation - I don't think we need worry about 10000 crowds any more
  11. yeah but Jenkins is a Bears asset - I don't get that one - I guess ££
  12. yes but what do you think 'the product' is? To me its close competitive racing on a decent track with reasonable facilities, I don't need to see big names just decent racing and a settled team with 'our' riders we can get behind them. I wonder how much of your £22 is going to tuners/ other stuff that makes no difference to the racing?
  13. that would be Diamonds85- perhaps he'd care to explain from his position of not having a club to support
  14. because it would require some radical decisions that they seem unable to make. The dog should be wagging the tail but the reverse is the current situation.
  15. never say never - there was despair when Worky shut - now look.
  16. when sitting down to agree admission prices you can not put your expenses first - it has to be market level first and costs have to be adjusted to accommodate that market level. Asda can't sell milk at £5 a pint, they have to compete with the others. Speedway has to compete with cinema, pizza or even going out at all. In any business control of costs is paramount otherwise its disaster for any business and speedway is no different. Controlling costs has to be the way forward, cheaper bikes, whatever, that's the big question. £22 this year, £25 next - its the road to oblivion.
  17. if people are cutting down on heating then speedway has no chance
  18. is anyone actually looking to the best of your knowledge?
  19. there seems to be space at Swindon Supermarine's facility. Do any locals know if this has been looked at
  20. yes in the days when there was clear demarcation between the divisions the top 2nd tier boys were "no 8" for 1st division teams. E.g. Steve Wilcock performed this role for Coventry among others. Nobody seemed to mind that.
