great points well made

you're starting to annoy me now we should have standards of immigration to be as high as Australia and Canada Just one question - when would YOU close the doors??? controlling imigration is not racist and you are being self righteous and thats my final word too on this
-
i think he used to but he's retired now!
-
you have to understand that there MUST be room for discussion about migration without playing the race card. You can't call people bigots for wanting migration controlling. I know all about the Nazis thnk you and i also know that some countries, Australia for one, now control very strictly who comes in - are they racist? No they are not they have thousands of greek immigrants for one thing but they accept there now must be limits to immigration. You can not have open doors - I'm generally left wing in my views but i am convinced that we will pay a very heavy price if migration is not controlled. Anyway this is a speedway forum
-
It's a forum and he expresses his views as he sees it. He is never less than polite and is never abusive I don't agree with everything he says but he's always worth reading IMO Your comment has no validity at all And by the way falling out with BH is a badge of honour

I think the difficulty people of our generation (im56) have is that we feel cultural and historical bonds with commonwealth countries We feel we have few bonds with the near Europe countries and hardly any with Eastern European countries and yet we are being thrown together in an economic union. I'm all for free movement of goods but feel less comfortable with free movement of labour. I don't think I'm alone in this.

quote: "surely your questions1 and 2 are answered by reading this on a Speedway forum " unquote forgive my slight cynicism but someone came on here a few months ago with a survey which they were going to give us the results of - does anyone remember this? That told us nothing and i fear this will tell us nothing we don't already know.
-
the questions asked by the poll could als be answered by reading a speedway forum Good luck Mr Sprocket but my point is that we need the product to be right for young people before we try to sell it to them
-
what will happen to these results? We already know the attendees are aging. Are you going to ban them? you're asking the wrong question - you need to be asking young people 1) if they know what the sport is 2) do they know where their local track is and 3) why don't they attend or what would it take to attract them but please bear in mind young people have a shorter attention span than the rest of us and they won't stand around waiting for the next heat for 15 minutes listening to Tony Orlando and Dawn in a half closed off 'stadium'
-
probably too late now but could have dropped the team average limit slightly and introduced a single fast track rider to each team to cover for any shortage obviously if this had been envisaged or known about sooner
-
you make a good point - its all hyperbole isn't it - they must think we're stupid - its div1, 2 and 3 and no amount of 'rebranding' can change that. Did the rebranding help with attendances? I wouldn't think so same with football - the Championship is Div 2.
-
i would weaken the pl for 2 reasons - 1) to make ends meet and 2) to make the step from NL more manageable i do not want to reduce earnings for British riders but DU/DD is a bit farcical and another cerdibility issue i squirm when televised matches are on and the commentator says "and also rides in PL for so and so". Casual watchers who we might reasonably be trying to attract would just laugh.
-
I'm happy to say i agree with you - maybe some kind of agreement about GB make up of PL teams and a restriction on non GB riders to max of 1 or 2 maybe I do not believe that would be illegal - it exists in Champions League football (another misnomer!)
-
Cook, Lawson, etc etc should be exclusively EL which would make room for NL up and comers - like it used to be when Div 2 heat leaders moved up - development of riders would be a clear path NL to PL to EL don't bother replying Bwitcher i know i'm wrong
-
thats more or less what i said
-
it is a shame more young NL riders don't come through the PL but if the EL can not provide a living for riders they are tempted to double up/down and restrict opportunities for young NL riders not really the fault of PL but certainly a situation that should be addressed - perhaps the visa situation will concentrate minds to solve it and there will be more natural progression from NL - I'd love to see that
-
the work permit system is there to protect wages and jobs - careful what you wish for
-
Yes but they won't pay 25k no one would It'll go to tribunal Havvy is just being an idiot and he'll find cooperation from some fellow promoters will be less forthcoming because of this and other acts
-
i take your point entirely but you need to watch TV after 9, listen to some rap, watch some video games and movies there are no good role models for our young - or very few
-
ch958 - Smoggie and slightly ashamed
-
your first sentence makes no sense at all oh, wait, neither does the second
-
she wasn't much cop on Sky but i don't care about that what i care about is her moral crusade against a person who has been through the British justice system, served a sentence decided by a judge, and is somehow expected to pay for the rest of his life. This is while killers are playing league football with impunity, drug dealers and users fill the charts and cinema screens. All of this against a backdrop of pure hypocrisy as she fawned over Mike Tyson, a rapist and serial ciminal. She either thinks rape is a lifetime thing or she doesn't. This gives some the idea that her motives were perhaps a little self serving. Slowly, very slowly, but surely, a few others jumped on her bandwagon, possibly feeling pressured to do so. It is purely a personal opinion but i was not impressed by her "crusade" and for the record, although it doesn't actually matter i find her not particularly attractive because she does not seem at all natural. No one involved in this episode comes out with credit, frankly not even the victim, but justice is no more than a game and on another day he would have walked, as others have.
-
did you hear about the most agreeable invading army of all time? They came, they saw, they concurred.
-
maybe she was hoping Mike Tyson would be there
-
no not 'team' anything - its a pathetic attempt at being modern which has become old really quickly and is yet another nail in the credibility coffin
