  1. You're leaning against an open door here TWK - its an embarrasing attempt to be trendy
  2. you'd think wouldn't you he's never there though and we never get offered Wolves assets as team members Why isn't Ricky Wells or Thorsell riding for Redcar for example
  3. i understand your point - perhaps its more pertinent that big names turn up every 3/4 weeks because of the lack of tracks and not once or twice a year when there were 16/17 top flight clubs. when Mauger or Briggs came to town it was a big deal
  4. i imagine cvs does nothing but collect a fee from the current promoters for the rights with no real interest in what goes on
  5. why don't sun affected tracks have 2 starting gates or just relocate the one set
  6. what work is being carried out to solve some of these problems? Some can't be solved entirely but things like the interaction of tyres and track, engine size, type and quantity of dirt, etc could be looked at there seems no development work to change things just faster and faster bikes
  7. what a waste of internet this thread is
  8. we've had this discussion before - many people feel more culturally attched to commonwealth citizens than some European an other migrants
  9. Sky should dump EL. British speedway should dump EL. Two divisions - running one at PL level or very slightly higher, one at PL level or very slightly lower. Promotion and relegation, no guests Then you have the beginnings of a marketable product
  10. the question was - what's his biggest crime? This was the answer. Whats your problem - facts are being stated not judgements
  11. signing for another team happens every season have Lawson and Summers turned their back on us too? Offered more cash like Roynon was I was disappointed when it happened too but we need strengthening and he'll do a job
  12. more than one from what i understand but when local money gets invested 180 miles away it sticks in the craw a bit
  13. he's not our asset why should we care about Morley its not like he's going to be an international or GP rider is it? also - look at tonights totals for the 2 of them. Konpka has only been riding 18 months and he's already better than Morley who's been riding at least 4 years
  14. it should happen this way but EL and PL too close in strength compared with PL to NL in other words its a bigger jump from NL to PL than from PL to EL
  15. "Team GB" was a pathetic 1980s attempt to be cool and relevant that speedway adopted ten years after everybody else - now its just an embarrasment and we're just making fools of ourselves - its Great Britain. oh and Wales should drop Gareth Bale for playing for Real Madrid should they? Why should Woffinden work for less money that he can get elsewhere - would you??
  16. that may well be true but its still too high - the aim should be a year on year reduction. Imagine if F1 had maintained its injury statistics from donkeys years ago. But they have added safety measures year by year
  17. given the purpose of this metal and welding i would have thought more than visual inspection required - maybe MPI (magnetic particle inspection) or similar should be used
  18. currently 1.24 a bottle in my local Tesco - nearly free!
  19. maybe this is a daft question but do tracks (as employers) keep an accident book? At work i have to write up a paper cut never mind a collision with a safety fence Also are injuries reported to RIDDOR? if the answer to either or both is yes then actual figures would be available - presumably as a freedom of information request its actually quite important information - if the sport was getting more injurious to participants then it would be remiss of the governing body to not make changes
  20. England has had good players but they lack technique at the highest level = probably because we play at 100 mph in the UK how many English players have had long and succesful careers abroad?
  21. don't get me started on this....if you could see the way young boys are coached you would understand why we are stuck at a certain level. Having been involved with youth coaching i've seen it - at 7/8 they look for big strong boys who can hoof it and run fast. With some elite clubs kids are turfed out at will in favour of other boys poached from other clubs - the 'legendary' Wallsend Boys Club being one of the worst offenders. As kids age they gradually fall away from the game to the extent that U18 and U21 teams are becoming rarer and rarer.
