  1. the Bears Talk site reports that the whole track has been relaid
  2. whats the answer then SCB - plough on and hope for the best?
  3. it was ever thus - the bigger clubs in the tope division, smaller lower down the worrying thing is the amount of clubs who were big time at one time or another operating in lower leagues - Sheffield, glasgow, Ipswich, etc etc trust me very few people would want to take the risk of moving up because of costs - theres a post on another topic berating teams who don't want to go up but the poster isn't risking hundreds of thousands. Everyone goes bananas when i say this, which i do quite often, but EL simply has to make itself more affordable which means weakening teams and thats when people go crazy because they can't live without big names. To them anyone outside of the GPs is a 'wobbler' and then they go crazy again when there isn't the money to pay for Tai.
  4. the thing is new ventures always have big crowds then they tend to tail off so its a big risk
  5. mugs if they do although EL will be desperate for numbers next year
  6. thats an unfair comment - the money on offer would have been far less than elsewhere. Some of you people need to get real these are professionals who do it for a living.
  7. cock-up rather than walk out. 1969 i think Teesside v Canterbury - the Crusaders were carrying their men and machines in a converted bus which broke down. Somehow Ron Wilson cobbled together a Northern Select team to replace them - including Barry Crowson who was travelling seperately and Alan Knapkin there was an announcement that you could leave the stadium and get a refund or readmission or whatever but very few did in my memory. Ron Wilson had his critics but he ran a tight show and i don't recall many weather call offs - not while he had sawdust to sprinkle
  8. i agree with you - it wasn't me who couldn't fill his programme in
  9. nobody accepts (i think you meant to write) there are jokers at Cardiff. And maybe that gentleman did have troubles with the scorecard i dont know yes massive crowds turned up in the past when there were daft rules, meaningless fixtures, etc etc but they aren't now are they? I'd just like to discuss why and i don't care how many negative comments are made on that journey
  10. fair comment - but i'm pretty sure that i personally post ideas about how things might be improved quite a bit of the time - not everyone agrees with me - thats fine - along with probably some nonsense i wish i hadn't said too like most on here. What i feel most though is that i was once obsessed with this sport, i absolutely loved it and i don't feel that way any more.
  11. whenever someone comes on here and posits an opinion that, perhaps, all is not as it should be he or she is dubbed moaner. I am one such person - i have opinions and i like to express them on a forum - shock horror! I can even live with the dickheadsmartass replies. If 5,000 were turning up for every EL match and 3,000 for every PL you could justifiably tell me to shut up and go away. However the sport is on the bones of its ass and getting bonier by the year and eventually there will be a crisis. However - lets not discuss anything for fear of being 'negative'.
  12. dozens of thousands no longer go - what are we supposed to do - pretend its not happening?
  13. slightly facetious reply - for one thing its not 321 if its a joker or golden double or some such crap
  14. this discussion has been had so many times now. I believe it would work but only at PL level or just above at the moment
  15. there is one answer - drastically cut the average limit in PL and there'll be no room for some of the EL boys - harsh but would work
  16. well you can't force people but in the past, as you know, there was more money to be made in the top division and you had to be there to have a chance of riding for Great Britain, etc. They have to want to go up. Of course there was no doubling down then which i regard as a bad thing personally - you comitted to Div 1. Of course quite a few didn't make it and came back down in time.
  17. my take on this is that there are so many PL riders who, in the past, would have progressed to the top league. Once, a top scorer in a Div 2 team would generally move up and progressed to Div 1. That progression has slowed considerably and actually the PL is a bit too strong to the extent that NL riders find it difficult to move into PL succesfully. This can be changed with the will to do so and MAY lead to a stronger pool of British riders
  18. as i was reading the posts this occured to me too - anything is worth a try and it does generate good feeling when you feel like you're getting a bargain as opposed to feeling you're being reamed!
  19. You're leaning against an open door here TWK - its an embarrasing attempt to be trendy
  20. you'd think wouldn't you he's never there though and we never get offered Wolves assets as team members Why isn't Ricky Wells or Thorsell riding for Redcar for example
  21. i understand your point - perhaps its more pertinent that big names turn up every 3/4 weeks because of the lack of tracks and not once or twice a year when there were 16/17 top flight clubs. when Mauger or Briggs came to town it was a big deal
  22. i imagine cvs does nothing but collect a fee from the current promoters for the rights with no real interest in what goes on
  23. why don't sun affected tracks have 2 starting gates or just relocate the one set
