BWitcher - you are KKS and i claim my 5 pounds
-
Interesting stuff - i didn't know any of this.
-
ok what then? Open yourself up to the ridicule and scorn you pour on others besides i wouldnt necessarily assume that racing is worse without big stars - more mistakes are made and the racing could actually be less predictable I've only ever watched 2nd div racing in the main - i ve never craved EL/D1 racing also a good chunk of the cost cutting would have to come via machinery costs not just cutting riders expenses although as ive said many times, the idea of flying people round Europe to ride in front of three figure crowds is madness

much easier than coming up with positive suggestions though

Elite League 2016 - What Is Required?
ch958 replied to 1 valve's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
if you offer free tickets in return for email addresses you can then do what you suggest other lines of business do it - its a basic marketing method when i started a thread about a year ago to say that 10/12 was about right i got slaughtered on here. You have to operate at the market level - you are competing for money with other attractions. Thereafter of course comes the hard part - getting the expenses down to afford that kind of entry fee. -
i can only speak anecdotally but Cleveland Park in the 70s i can't recall many times guests were used as i say anecdotally - not scientific we really need a forensic examination of injuries as well - they SEEM more regular than in the past regardless of whether guests were as common then as it is now a more sophisticated modern audience won't have it I'm afraid.
-
unfortunately i didn't see that post - perhaps now would be a good time for interested parties to post blueprints with an agreed maximum number of words and bullet points of course it would have to be from the position of reduced circumstances we are in now who wants to start?
-
we still await the positive ideas just be aware - sticking your head above the parapets gets it blown off in what way do i indicate that i don't advocate change? Just because I'd like the old tac sub rule back. I have a list a mile long in my head to do with track materials technology, engine noise and size, marketing, team sizes, the very name of the sport, etc etc You think I'd suggest them in public on here? I'd get a dozen posts about how stupid I am. No thanks You however seem to have given up judging by your last post. In that case can you please cut those of us who haven't some slack yes we leave that type of thing to Asian gangs these days (you could say we outsourced it)** and they dont actually build anything at all these days (certainly not affordable housing) people are walking the streets smacked off their ** these days (we're on to 2nd and 3rd generation unemployable in some families with no sign of it changing) there are no police at weekends ot evenings (unless you're driving) its so much better now can we try and stick to motorbikes going round in circles because you're on a loser with this (irrelevant) argument **please do not play the race card i really can't be bothered posting a dozen links to news stories to back this up
-
its a good theory but no one would take such a financial risk I agree Swedish league racing is the best at the moment
-
you mean how it was when crowds were 4 times what they are now just sayin..
-
I remember how disappointed you were about how the first fixture at Redcar turned out. Double check the averages today!! I reckon you'll score 60 or more tonight
-
Yes we used to talk to one another!!
-
ok if i am mistaken mea culpa - to be clear i am advocating weaker perhaps i didnt read his post clearly by the way i dont remember accusing anyone of bullying I'll check my postings to see and i'm not 'wading in' i'm contributing as positively as i can I would like one big league at PL standard or aprox - thats my bit - end of people think it won't work others think it may its all academic anyway because no one in the sport has the vision and/or cojones to do anything but struggle on blindly EDIT: I did misread his post - he is not advocating a weaker PL - however I am hope that clears things up BTW I'm still awaiting positive realistic suggestions to consider
-
you're right there's not a lot you can do but the first thing to do is make sure you can pay the bills and survive
-
very funny 'You're now moving the goalposts by suggesting the use of 'juniors'. what the hell are you on about - let me clarify what I am trying to convey all I'm saying is that sufficient riders can be found to man a combined league without GP and other top riders some of whom may be juniors currently, some of whom may be recently retired, whatever ideal solution? No - Weakened teams? Yes - Some riders considerably better than others? - Yes Less riders per team? - maybe I'm trying to make constructive suggestions and i would love to read others' constructive suggestions
-
sorry i have no idea what you're talking about
-
i must admit i never considered the old TS rule a problem and i dont recall anyone objecting to it either in the SS or anywhere i think the 'pointless rant' comment is a bit uncalled for actually - i wish we were a bit more polite on here. I include myself in that
-
"You can water a product down but you are still going to have to pay certain riders what will be seen as “market value”…." of course that is correct but a rider asking unreasonable money should in theory be easier to replace if he is not a world star and yes certain non star riders will suddenly become quite attractive to teams there's always going to be haves and have nots - there is in any sport but we'll soon be at the stage when the EL will consist of 4/5 teams - there has to be a way of embracing Berwick, Redcar, etc in a competition and it has to be at their level not Poole's, however that is achieved Don't forget this may only be a temporary situation - the sport could begin to market itself better, make sure trackes are properly prepared and it may grow again in which case we can go back to Div 1 and 2 (and 3) Does anyone have a better realistic proposal
-
i heard this argument in 1968 and 69 when 17 (I think) new tracks opened over the two years- that was about 120 or so new riders found them alright and found more when injuries occured and would this time
-
SCB has offered an opinion - nothing more. My opinion differs but i haven't got the energy to slog it out with blinkered people - I'm just stating reality as i see it. We can't afford to go on as we are. There are answers - use juniors, smaller teames, etc but i can't be arsed arguing
-
you are right to drop it - you'll get nothing but abuse trouble is you're totally correct too many deluded folks on here still think we can afford to have GP riders in our league teams in front of 4/500 fans yes you could fill teams with stars like Swedish and Polish leagues and hope the fans come back but no one will take such a financial risk in the current climate prune the thing back and build from there and I'm dropping out of the argument too before the bully boys come in with personal attacks
-
ok we'll just leave it then
-
i think you were near the mark when you said the sport was uncool - it certainly is there isn't one thing wrong - there's loads - guests, du, jokers, whatever not saying that getting rid of the above would bring people back for sure but something has to be tried as a former business person i would say that number one issue is control of costs businesses that fail to control costs always fail - always thats why we have so many accountants
-
the promoters will like that - they'll be better able to make ends meet R/R, new signings - not easy i admit either find an answer or forget team competitions
-
it is simply not credible to ride for two teams in the same country - end of argument really. Long time fans may accept it (though i never have) but we need a new audience and they will not accept it i'd rather teams got hammered with their own riders - it happens often enough anyway
