  1. agree its not the no1 problem. I prob posted 2 years ago that we're in survival mode and we still are and costs to riders get knocked on as salary demands and then knocked on as entrance fees so they are linked. Its a hoary old chestnut but admission fees have to be linked to what folk will stand versus what else they could get for 20 quid. 12 or 15 quid and its an easier decision so, somehow, costs of running would need to accommodate that and it prob doesn't allow for flying GP stars in to ride in front of 3 figure crowds. Like I said originally, tough unpopular decisions needed.
  2. if thats what you take from it, fine. My point was and is that the 'progress' in machinery means nowt to fans and merely adds huge costs that the sport cannot afford. It certainly adds nothing to the racing.
  3. funny - just what this debate needs
  4. needs tough decisions unpopular with riders and some fans. The day 4 valves came in was the beginning of the bike wagging the rider so to speak. 90pc of fans couldn't give a moneys about the bikes, just want decent racing at a price we can afford.
  5. the rules have to be complicated because people are always looking to bend them
  6. will somebody please wake up and organise this sport in an affordable, credible way before its too late.
  7. novelty, and a strong team, crowds will fall off in time. Team speedway can survive but its back to basics for me.
  8. free tickets - just give us your email address and we'll send it. Then you can target in the most accurate way possible - straight into the inbox of someone who showed an interest, however slight
  9. well there goes the theory that GP/ star name riders will have them flocking through the gates. One division at CL level and NL needed. If we accept we're down to the bare bones of fans (500 at Pboro last night with a GP star and good looking Pboro signing?) lets cut our cloth and go from there, much as I've enjoyed seeing clips of Sayfutinov etc. it can't go on
  10. yeah - good point well made, I was thinking more of the win at all costa attitude which poisons the top div and the scramble to have teams they can't afford. Just my opinion.
  11. Teesside/Middlesbrough/Redcar never been Div 1 and I've no interest in that rubbishshow
  12. also, what did it cost riders in machinery - I remember Div 2 riders in the first few years of the league riding proper lawnmowers, then they'd buy second hand from a D1 rider. Costs generally lower I wd have thought, many more semi pros then too in both divisions, my uncle worked with Norman Strachan at Southampton docks
  13. thats because the second div thinks its the first div and some teams can't keep up, needs a rethink
  14. wht don't they do something about it - all this does is confirm the gate = win naysayers. This is supposed to be the flagship and entice people to Scunny, Redcar, Worky, etc where the racing is proper
  15. its a shame there isn't a solicitor/ barrister fan who wd work pro bono, they haven't got a leg to stand on. What the hell are they so scared of??
  16. you might be grateful to endure a losing streak next year when you're at home watching Eastenders
  17. allow one per team at NL level and one or two would emerge
  18. I was merely wondering who was available - I'm sure he'll be given the time to settle
  19. I agree but I doubt it does anyone's confidence any good to post zeros week after week, sometimes it helps to come out of the firing line
  20. hypothetically, if we wanted to put a new face in at 7 who is available/ suitable?
  21. well, to answer your question - no, it wouldn't. I think the announcement was column filler. I was just suggesting that more than one meeting would make more sense. Even at Cardiff I think it would.
