  1. Neil Collins had to eat his pigeons
  2. i think we've always accepted that but if there isn't the footfall to pay them thats just how it is. People who parachute or climb mountains risk their future health too but no one's paying them If they didn't have to spend so much on kit they might make a bob or two when Tim Swales ran Middlesbrough he used to say riders could earn an average weekly wage in one night
  3. like this idea but would go A 0 - 4.00, B 4.01- 7.5, then above for C but its all arguable isn't it - the basic idea is simple and sound I commend it to the house
  4. I don't know how the hell you get a doctor's appt with 48 hours! its usually next week for me
  5. I hope this is an indication that Bukkhave might be back next year - I think he'll come good. Would be funny if we had a wet spell wouldn't it?
  6. I don't know how any club can make important announcements for 2018 when the league structures, fixed days, averages, etc etc have not been decided. Leicester could announce they are dropping down then its one big league! who knows?
  7. I agree with your first point - I think football gets around that by some kind of fee for training the young player so far - in the lower leagues anyway. So rather than a transfer fee for a good youngster brought through by, say, Buxton - they would get compensation fee if he moved on.
  8. one day someone will challenge it in the courts and that'll be the end of that. Some rider will be prevented from riding because of loans fees, etc and it will be challenged
  9. satire is not dead - very good Whisperer.
  10. haven't read every word written here but it is vital that Buxton, Mildy, Plymouth, IOW etc etc are able to compete in the lower league it would mean a very very drastic cut in standards for the rest of the league which is fine by me but i expect it would meet with resistance
  11. The mooted pirate league sounds fascinating and i knew nothing about it (why would i) but i would love to hear more if possible
  12. push round for a quarter of a lap with an engineless bike, then get excluded for being lapped four times
  13. haha well there's no hope for him is there!
  14. of course i do but the presentation of a four ride figure is no longer relevant. its obviously confusing because people still come on and ask questions or make daft comments like the guy who suggested a 46 limit because he didnt realise 46 is for 15 heats not 13 do you not see that?
  15. why don't we use the Swedish method and use race average rather than the rather outdated CMA
  16. i don't understand the slightly bitchy remarks and inverted commas. Perhaps you'd prefer us to have crowds of 150 and shut down. Teesside is a much smaller and poorer area so we do ok thanks.
  17. as someone has said - i do believe there is no point in expending effort and cash on advertising until its credible and worth turning up for.
  18. i should say self preservation rather than self interest. the top league is a poorly run, team shedding farrago and has a track record in bullying the 2nd div - vis the last amalgamation which they sobotaged and further back the bullying of provincial league teams which led to the obvious solution to the problem which they had to be forced in to- a combined division. Which is what should happen now.
  19. crowds halved? Going from paying GP riders to NL I imagine their costs are less than half. A combined league would mean seeing at least one biggish name in every away team - by that I mean top div 2, average div 1 not GP riders
  20. I wouldn't have thought so - contracted div 2 riders would need permission to ride for a div 1 team wouldn't they? of course riders are freelance in effect and it might be seen as restraint of trade so many things in speedway would not be deemed legal in a court of law. Assets? I think not
  21. JBA is an asset though. I'd also have Bukkhave - another asset. No loan fees.
