we did race Fridays in the 60s i believe - presume it wasn't successful Saturday 7 pm does me but Fridays ok too either way it'll need advertising and a big push
-
well I for one hope you get your wish but I wouldn't hold my breath. I'm peed off that one league isn't even up for discussion - the very least they could do is consider how it could work my feeling is the top league will cream 2 or 3 teams off div 2 Christ knows what Redcar will do if we have to move nights - crowds 20 pc up this year - 30 pc down next could join the PL I suppose haha
-
will we be changing race nights??
-
no it won't but there isn't one single thing that would make a difference - its lots of things - the joker/double points being just one guests being another, etc etc

What Would You Change In Speedway Next Season?

I mean you make a good point but people say they stay away if guests are involved I, for one, consider guests make a fixture meaningless and prob wouldn't go maybe if their usage could be severely restricted... without guests people argue that there would be drubbings but there's drubbings anyway and at least without guest they would be honest drubbings -
550/650 my guess on average accross the 3 leagues
-
in the heady 60s and 70s Briggs, Mauger, Fundin found themselves in the same heats as people who never progressed beyond reserve/ second string and had v little chance of beating the big names - no names. Thats how the big guys managed to get 11 plus avarages i don't see the issue -
-
yeah - there's pros and cons - for me I just want 18 to 20 teams of equalish strength and stable line ups who knows really - it might kick start the sport, might kill it
-
they're going to change nothing of importance - the top league will be propped up and bollox everyone else
-
big hitters mean nothing to me - if they went those who remain would be big hitters and they'd turn up every week
-
well Leicester have signed a big world star so that means there won't be one big league it won't even be considered it won't even be talked about same old same old and another big nail in the coffin if next season is anything like this one.
-
they need access to nl but can't get it because of riders who haven't moved to cl who haven't moved up because of all the riders who should have moved up to div 1
-
no wouldn't need set nights with one big league and commuters....err commuted! No need to lose tracks and run at an affordable level
-
Mike bv-every word you said is right on the money - be nice if someone listened.

Affordable get control of costs now before it all goes ** up - 1st year business studies. Costs are the one main thing you have control over - you don't have as much control over your selling price (i.e. admission fees must be competitive against other entertainments and of course staying at home). Yes you can publicise but its not as important as cost control I bet the promoters don't run their businesses like they run their tracks -
perfect - but they haven't got the guts to do it. The paying public are having to fit around big name riders! Talk about the tail wagging the dog. And too many think the big names produce the best racing - wrong, they just win alot

a more accurate summing up is at Sheffield tonight 1 meaningless fixture 2 only 1 real bear 3 ambulance doesn't turn up imagine a first timer attending this -
Is There Hope For The Future.?
ch958 replied to Sidney the robin's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
they need to make room in the nl by moving current nl riders to championship and weakening the strength (and costs) of the championship and also moving Cook etc to the top league to make room bit like how d2 riders used to move to d1 -
there's a big part of the problem there - a way has to be found to make that sum smaller - i don'tknow how - needs a person who knows about the bikes. Be interesting what percentage of income goes on kit. Somebody needs to grasp the costs nettle and grasp it hard
-
the money teams will fiddle whatever system is in place - at least this is simple (ish) and i do beleive it is used elsewhere
