  1. could be used as qualifying points for a big meeting in September
  2. with blindfolded riders getting radio instructions from the pits
  3. in my view there will have to be a top division, just because some people won't give it up - well, good luck to them. As a lifelong Div 2 supporter I'd be looking for a massive weakening of that division with the resultant addition of several NL teams and hopefully thats enough to survive, which is the no1 priority atm. Its all well and good discussing how to get the fans back and having expectations but for the time being survival is the aim. The diamonds and Redcar get approximately the same crowds as Gateshead FC, roughly speaking, and they aren't even professional any more, they certainly don't fly players in from the continent.
  4. i think the decisions made in the near future may be catastrophic to some clubs so it may be that keeping things quiet is understandable atm.
  5. yeah but he'll be so baked that he'll think there is
  6. Lunna in for Busch. You can't complain that they haven't tried to improve things - esp when they're not making money.
  7. tracks not usually available outside of race night but if it is well good
  8. i hear what you say i just think getting the core product right would preclude the need for gimmicks. But i accept it may be worth a go
  9. well it doesn't encroach its just not what i go for. Besides if extras come for the gimmick, who's to say they'll come back unless the actual speedway is good
  10. must admit when i hear gimmicks proposed, although meant well and i mean no disrespect, i despair - it should be a speedway meeting, don't need the white helmets, scooter racing, or anything else if the product s good. which it currently isnt of course
  11. well i used to tear around a working mens club carpark which was grit - the back straight was downhill - i'm sure i was doing 70 mph at times haha for any Smoggies reading it was Cargo Fleet Club
  12. after Swindon last night we're better off keeping it a secret
  13. be nice to paste it in i don't really want to register. Seems like a positive article from the bit i could see
  14. negative comments about it from a well known BSF person on facebook earlier. Blocked him - sick of reading his rubbish.
  15. you make good points but what if some of the aspects of the sport were better in the past? Such as continuity of teams, better looking and slower bikes, riders closer to fans, etc etc. The future matters and it should incorporate what was good in the past.
  16. TBH i listen to Dean Felton more than anyone else on here because he talks sense and, more importantly, some of us may have dabbled but he's done it. He knows whats what
  17. its about 3 metres from Middlesbrough! Had to call it Redcar tho. Sorry i find the idea of the pairs gimmicky Gimmicks are one of the things that have dragged us down. Its a sport, a team sport, and i would prefer that to be the focus.
  18. you would think so but there is much antipathy towards immigration in the country from wherever and work permits are tight at the moment. This of course applies to doctors, gas engineers, etc etc as well as speedway riders.
  19. well we have the team we can afford so if you want more competition go 1st division where you belong.
  20. they most certainly are not. However, in the event of an amalgamation of the 2 divisions maybe there should be negotiations re work permits for non EU riders, if only for a year or 2 to make up for a perceived shortfall of riders. Another half dozen young Aussies wouldn't go amiss in such an event
  21. it would but if you remember those ads at the cinema for local companies where 'off the shelf' footage was used with the local info at the end. If clubs paid for a clip for all to use with details of the nearest track at the end In the Tyne Tees area for example they would mention Newcastle, Redcar, Berwick and Workington. Its difficult to guage what effect it would have but it would certainly reach people the age old point remains though - if and when they do turn up it has to be to see a well run and entertaining show. It has to compete with the place they saw the ad - cinema or in front of the telly and has to be reasonable value. At present it would be around double the cost of a cinema visit and far less comfortable
  22. decent proposals ouch i hate double RR - get some kids in
  23. besides at some of the bigger tracks the racing is quite boring at times and some at the smaller is very good
