you can't. Sooner or later this will be a court case. Assets are a farce, there's no such thing in reality. When a contract runs out a worker can do what he wants and no court would deny this
-
you can keep the play offs but just ensure the league winners are properly recognised. League champions then have play offs for a shield - Craven/Mauger/Buzz Burrows, anyone
-
I think, generally speaking, it is broke. There's a swell of opinion that league winners should be league champions and play off winners win something else, maybe a chance to have 'The Ivan Mauger Trophy' for the top 4.

"Finally, the riders have got to come to their senses. If you want to be a full-time rider and are either rich or riding in Poland in front of 15,000 fans, then fair enough and good luck to you. If you are second string in the 'Championship' riding in front of 500 people, surely you cannot expect to be full-time. Look back at the Peter Oakes' Who's Who book in 1974 and the vast majority of the riders had jobs. Now, for some reason, all the riders seem to feel that they are entitled to be full-time, thereby expecting the wages that would enable them to sustain that lifestyle. It cannot continue on current crowd levels." THIS

The product is more than names. It is, or should be, four closesly fought laps of racing by riders familiar and liked by their fans. Myself, i had Steve wilcock, Martin Dixon, etc etc I didn't feel shortchanged because i wasn't watching Mauger, Ashby, etc. I saw very good racing. That's the product.

1500? Try basing a budget on a third of that, then go forward. When and if crowds pick up, pay picks up. Hoping 1500 turn up is suicide. At the Div 2 tracks in the north a 20 pc crowd increase is probably only another 100 or so people. Its time to be realistic and go into survival mode first, then try and build.

i agree with the lack of promotion and advertising but when they get to the stadium the product should at least be credible and not select teams. One division for me but it doesn't seem there's the will. Oh well, more nails in the coffin I'm sad to say
-
you always argue persuasively and i respect what you say but we simply can't go on like this and yet you seem to suggest thats exactly whats going to happen. What then can be done differently?

there is such a thing as not letting costs increase, taking control of the situation, stop the tail wagging the dog. Play the league at D2 level - if Somerset have Doyle, then they'd have not much else, so be it. He can't be in every heat. I personally believe crowds would respond to the variety of fixtures and there would be an increase in revenue. I know there are arguments against what i have said but we simply can not go on like this

Somerset v King's Lynn KO Cup final 1st leg 17/10/18
ch958 replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
i hope if there is one league next year all you dickheads learn to lose and win with a bit more grace. Its infantile and embarrassing -
They'll play the long game, like the Oxford situation. The land isn't going to depreciate in value and if the stadium lies derelict the locals will kick off, support a planning app and thats that. Surely the Swindon management must know in their heart of hearts
-
I'm afraid i agree. I think the last couple of years might have been better spent trying to find somewhere else rather than being led a dance
-
why don't the brothers just take the bloody money and put their feet up. They'll get a good price from Rathbone and we'll progress as a club. Win win
-
your reply doesn't appear to make any sense. It hasn't but bikes haven't been slowed down and tracks haven't been prepared properly, otherwise it may have done my original post was 8 months ago! Where u been!!

I'm in the same boat - i have no idea how things are run. I appreciate the humourous replies but they tell me nowt -
don't know if this is a trolling attempt but its a very unfair and inaccurate comment.
-
It'll end up as Rye House Rockets eventually so just do it now don't fudge it
-
right well lets forget Div 1 - they're fkd in that case- lets please make sure D2 does it right by having weaker (affordable) teams in a bigger, more interesting league with please please please fewer guests/ DU/DD. Bring in Birmingham, Easty and Kent at least. And make it affordable for the clubs and D2 will at least survive
-
I'm sorry but the tracks you mention can not form a league therefore they fall in with everyone else or nothing. The tail has to stop wagging the dog. All of the clubs mentioned ran successfully atD2 level in the past, they can do it again - especially if they're top dogs, which they probably will be.
-
everyone conveniently forgets this when they go on anout dilution of talent - its the overall product not necessarily big names
-
and a massive curb on du/dd with a view to phasing out. And how about available to UK riders only in light of you know what next March
-
what if Peterboro, Ipswich, Glasgow and Sheffield don't want to go bust, or at least risk it with massively increased outlay and no guarantee of a return in Div 1. Thy'd probably do it if the averages were brought down but then they's be more or less at div 2 level anyway!!!
-
well how did it work when the BL was formed? Was it unworkable then? No
