  1. Wheels was a great track - surely cheaper to operate from there?
  2. I did suggest at one point that if 2nd halves were to return points could be earned from them towards a season end thing. Would make them a bit more meaningful What you suggest is like a British Open Championship qualifying round, would work I think.
  3. much as i hate guests, that may just tip things our way
  4. completely agree with everything you say, I'm just trying to figure out how we can get a decent sized division of at least 12 teams.
  5. I've had a fiddle about with formats and 5 is a bit repetitive but 6 works ok, 3 rides for 6, 4 for the others plus a nominated race making it 5. 12 teams x 6 riders = 72 blokes needed graded ABCD like Denmark, no fannying around with fractions of a point
  6. in football management, many have been successful managers without being stellar performers. However, will he be able to advise on gearings, best lines, etc?
  7. you say they 'think' the fans want team racing. If individual events were well attended surely they wd run them. Personally I enjoy them but prefer team racing. Teesside Silver Helmet was always a highlight for me.
  8. "The uncomfortable truth is that the sport carrying on as a team sport will never work. (In the UK).." and yet over time these are the best attended meetings, individual meetings seem to be less popular now unless they're GP related I agree the make up of these teams is nothing short of farcical at times. I think one league with fewer riders per team may be the way for the near future. How does it work in Denmark?
  9. as always Dean, total common sense. Let the GP and Polish league guys spend themselves daft and we go back to basics, all 3 leagues.
  10. I have said it before but the interaction between the track and the tyres? Is there a better material? What happened to shale? A binding agent now no oil drips? And most of all slow the bloody things down. At Redcar the riders start to slide miles before the corner, doesn't do it for me. Every time a rider led change comes along - 4 valve, uprights, why don't they say no; neither has added to the spectator experience and its just more cash for the riders. A recruitment drive for riders among the grass, moto x whatever community?
  11. I don't get the worry about having lesser riders in teams, going back when Ove Fundin turned up at Cradley was Ken Wakefield expected to beat him? For years teams carried 2/3 point riders - experienced ones too, no names that wd be disrespectful (although i have named one) but they made up the 7 and did what they could. And they didn't get lobbed out after 3 matches
  12. if you haven't offered a contract to work, ie ride, I don't see how its lawful to have any hold at all over a person. I've decided to work for Tesco this year, not Morrisons but Tesco have to pay Morrisons all the time I'm there and if they don't I can't work at Tesco
  13. in the list of things that were better in the past (when crowds were decent) dumping riders left right and centre wasn't one of them.
  14. they have to with the ridiculous amount of hiring and firing that goes on
  15. they can see it they just don't have the skills, courage, whatever to grasp the nettle and do something about it.
  16. given that everyone's losing money every fixture, would've thought one fewer wd save them money!
  17. so one thing happened which will never happen again and the customer experience suffers. There's one of the hundred things that are wrong
  18. parades are a bore - just a lap on the bike - don't know who insisted on helmets but they need their knobs wedging in a door
  19. doesn't any fan have a shop or outlet to purchase tix in person? May help the less tech savvy
  20. not sure this is a pop at Newcastle, not really the kind of thing Bears promoters do. Not sure anyone can afford to take the hit right now
  21. if there was one division, they'd have twice as many meetings.
  22. I suspect Ben has had his mental health damaged by his experiences. Thankfully he has 2 wingmen involved now to take some of the weight
  23. how does this work then? Do Redcar get a fee to put this on? Who pays the riders? Can Redcar make any cash out of it if 300 turn up?
