Vinnie Foord - is he too dangerous?
ch958 replied to BackInTheDHSS's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
thank you for your reply, I'm really sorry - you'd think the owners would be happy for the extra rent and food/ drink outlet income. Always been a Teesside/ Middlesbrough fan but enjoyed Brough -

I'm surprised you say that - Brough has lain dormant before and come back after a few years. The stadium has much going for it. To me, Diamonds fans always want a big number 1 and they haven't had one for a while. -
free entry and collect email addresses of those who apply and keep sending info/ news/ offers

When is somebody, anybody, going to do something about costs. The riders need to be able to spend less, be paid less and fans pay less admission - this arms race is only going to end one way. Birminghams crowds probably National League (footy) level or worse and their players will be on a fraction of what it costs for someone like Lindgren. Its utter madness.

there needs to be serious research re the tyre/ surface interaction. When I first started watching some racks were red with shale, others balck or brown. Slowing the engines down is most important

Trivial I know but I don't like us being called Redcar Bears, although I do know why we are. Maybe Redcar Boro Bears?

TV companies think we need some 'glamour', trouble is most of us are too old to bother about that type of thing -
I've just been awarded something or other, I never win anything so that's great!

Redcar Bears vs Poole Pirates 19th July
ch958 replied to lbw's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I agree, narrow win for Poole as they go onwards to a trophy no one cares about. -
there would be, or should be, an option for the stadium to have a smaller footprint and for a very limited number of properties, it's a big old site. Doesn't have to be houses, could be all weather sports pitches for example thus maintaining a leisure theme.

thank you

haven't bought it for years but I would subscribe to a proper digital copy.

Sept 1972, Teesside v Bradford. 40 - 38, Dave Durham beat Dave Baugh on the last corner of the last lap in the last heat. Never forgotten it!! DD was the master at diving under people at Cleveland Park

absolutely disgraceful. Didn't we have an MP's group in parliament?

be interesting to know what the sales people told buyers: 'oh don't worry about that, speedway's not coming back'.

maybe when away riders came once or twice a year but they turn up at least once a month now and will be familiar with the track and its the fairest in the land -
Dick Barrie doesn't count

one of the few posters on here who would never do that in my experience

Is any club sustainable on its crowds/ food and drink (where applicable). Probably not.
