Exeter - A Glimmer Of Hope?
PHILIPRISING replied to Sotonian's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
COULD be called the Ivan Mauger stadium. That might swing a few votes... -
Poole v Swindon SGB Prem A. 18th April 2018
PHILIPRISING replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
IN those days team managers (in this case Peter Oakes) could juggle their line-ups. Made the meeting more interesting. -
NO, never heard off that one ... but if it was at Newcastle would have been before I got more involved with speedway. If it actually happened would bet money that it was only once. As so many have said, Ivan was a true superstar and a great guy. Hopefully we can do him justice in Speedway Star, especially next week with a tribute issue.
-
YES he did
-
IF some of the issue are private and personal then they should not necessarily be placed in the public domain.

IT'S still a work in progress. Thanks for the positive comments. Just wish the potential audience was bigger

THIS week, under the direction of Editor Andrew Skeels and Art Editor Mick Smith, we start a process of a facelift for Speedway Star both in terms of presentation and content.

GB speedway team
PHILIPRISING replied to Bagpuss's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
WOULD be hard to justify all this if GB have only one assured meeting ... the Nations Cup at Belle Vue. -
THANKS to everyone for their comments here. I speak as someone who (other than sanctioning the cost!) had nothing to do with its production. I'm very proud of the of the people who did the hard graft and know they appreciate how well it is both perceived and received.

How many fixtures run over Easter?
PHILIPRISING replied to Sings4Speedway's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
BITTER blow for British speedway as a whole with so many of the traditional Easter meetings postponed. There had been a lot of positivity about the start of the season with noticeably many more tracks using social media, and quite impressively too. -
AND that is enough to stop you buying a 112 page edition with all the facts and figures you might find useful in the weeks and months ahead?
-
STRANGE reason if I may say so

DANISH clubs have Wednesday as their race-night... any conflict there?

HAVE had some questions about the SS app on Android. Here is a link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.exacteditions.android.androidpaper

IT is that time of the year again ... Speedway Star's "big issue'" it's pre-season special, is available from Thursday at no extra cost despite being almost three times as big as the usual weekly format. It will be available at tracks over the Easter period and from all the usual outlets ... newsagents, supermarkets, etc. And, of course, via a subscription. The digital version, online at 12.01 am on Thursday, can be purchased with the Speedway Star app for just £2.49 from the Apple or Android stores. Or you can call Dave on 020-8335 1113 and have it delivered to your door.

I HAVE been a vocal and vociferous critic of many things in speedway for over 50 years and could come up with a long list of things that are wrong with the sport today. Nigel just screams, sounds like a monkey, doesn't use any words. Do you actually read what you write? Of course, he is not everyone's cup of tea, no one is, but your comments are so ludicrous that no one will take them seriously.

2018 Warsaw Gp
PHILIPRISING replied to steve69's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
ALWAYS worth looking at BA/LOT too -
THINK you are on a different planet to most of us ... planet of the apes by the sound of it.

SO sad to hear of the passing of Alan Whale, a wonderful photographer whether it be speedway, grass track or speedway, notably at Poole. However, grass track was Alan's true love and he did it proud during his many decades behind the lens.
