  1. iT appears to be the favoured option amongst promoters at the moment
  2. YOUR sarcasm and scepticism is showing its face again .It doesn't matter what I think but several people in Denmark, including a number of journalists and people like Ole Olsen said that the cost for the core of Danish speedway fans travelling to Copenhagen and accommodation (like Cardiff) was proving prohibitive once the novelty of going to the Capital wore off. And Danish fans, like their Swedish cousins, don't get attracted by a sub-standard home line up. No doubt had Nielsen, Gundersen and Knudsen been riding then an SGP at PARKEN would be a massive success. Neither Denmark nor Sweden currently have a superstar to put bums on seats and, sadly, there is no sign of one emerging any time soon.
  3. NOT silly at all. UK has been a major contributor to the EU honeypot.
  4. ARTICLE in SS this week by our long-time Australian correspondent Peter White .... pessimistic rather than optimistic. Would require state funding. What might help is if New Zealand also come to the party. Two events on consecutive weeks would make a lot more sense. Rumour has it that now Bill has secured the future of Western Springs as a motorsport venue he could be open to the idea.
  5. WHY, most of the money probably came from the UK in the first place.
  6. DON'T have much trouble with Gorzow now ... just about all motorway from Berlin, which is not an expensive flight from London these days.
  7. BET you cannot smell the pollution like you could 40 plus years ago...
  8. LODZ just one of a number of Polish cities talking with BSI. Torun and Warsaw will continue ... possibly not Gorzow.
  9. WITH a four month gap? Trouble is, no one knows. Glad it's not my decision
  10. DOUBT whether you would get 20,000. Can get 10,000 into NSS with temporary stands etc and you don't have the expense of putting in a track (estimated at £250,000)... the perfect one is already there.
  11. SOME news faces ... Fricke, Millik and Lambert, who I think is ready. If you are good enough you are old enough.
  12. WARSAW and Prague (probably). Personally, would drop either Malilla or Hallstavik (lack of Swedish riders) and have an early SGP at the NSS in Manchester. British fans are generally more supportive of the riders whatever their nationality and the gap from say May to September wouldn't detract from Cardiff. It might even help.
  13. MY colleague Peter Oakes texted ... Went to King's Lynn last night and have to say there was not a speck of dust despite being only 27 miles from the warmest spot in Britain yesterday. Buster was telling me he was on the track at 3.45am putting down water so despite what people will say you can run a meeting in this weather without sending the public off to have a shower!
  14. STRANGELY the night speedway World Finals were held never came up in my history lessons.
  15. NOT involved and BSI no longer hold the post meeting Press Conference at which the official stadium figure was provided.
  16. THEY have various other duties during the course of a meeting and are rarely all in one place. But the referee's decision is still final.
