  1. ONLY just joined the conversion, having been lucky enough to be in Wroclaw for what I consider to be the greatest speedway meeting I have witnessed. 23 outstanding races, fantastic atmosphere inside the stadium. The skill, the speed, the courage, no better form of motorsport. Sat with former F1 driver Mark Webber and he was drooling at the spectacle. The track at the Olympic Stadium must now be consided better than even Torun and the renovations that have taken place (first went there 49 years ago to see Ivan Mauger complete his World Finals hat-trick) are tremendous. What a night...
  2. WOULD have been even better if he was one round away from winning the title again...
  3. TAI did say he wasn't sure about Cardiff and is having more scans this week so Wroclaw would appear very premature
  4. MIGHT be more of a case that they haven't notified the FIM that they are ready to resume. Hard to see Greg returning this season and judging by Tai's X-rays on his broken back earlier this week he still has a way to go.
  5. YES, a few years back but like most if not all Polish towns they have probably improved the service.
  6. GOOD idea. Making a rare SGP trip to this one ... was at the first one there in 1995. Times have changed.
  7. PERSONALLY (nothing more) don't think it will go back to Togliatti next year. They should have a rota , like golf. The Open won't go back to Portrush in 2020 because Lowry won this year. It would also give countries (towns, tracks, etc) longer to prepare in every sense.
  8. WHAT on earth has the SON got to do with Brexit? This isn't all about Armando, who in my experience going back over 50 years is by far the best boss of the CCP at the FIM there has ever been. He is passionate (Italian after all) about speedway and works tirelessly. The FIM (Armando's superiors) are keen to take all sorts of events, including the SGP, to new countries (France for the SGP for example) but are not prepared to provide any real finance. They talk about Spain, a country in love with motorsports, but would an SGP work there with no Spanish riders and a hard core of fans. The fact is that countries like Denmark and Sweden were no longer interested in staging WC finals. Poland probably the only country that was. You can only play the cards you are dealt with.
  9. THAT is a completely different argument, most if not all I agree with. Would an old style four-man team WC been any different in terms of racing at Togliatti?
  10. SON has its pros and cons (not least the title) but as ever we in the UK need to appreciate that the views of fans in many other countries, many of which have greater speedway audiences than we do, have contrasting views.
  11. CAN you imagine a GB squad of five riders in an old-style World Cup over the weekend without Tai...
  12. WASN'T their best night, I agree, but commentating from a studio thousands of miles away will always be an issue.
  13. SHE is very poor. Classic moment with the Russian team manager choosing gates for the race-off.
