  1. DON'T forget that BSI have to abide by availability of the stadium. This year it was late because of the Rugby World Cup... in 2020 when the rugby season returns to normal things changed again.
  2. IN all honesty I think the tracks are now "too good" in the sense that they are smooth, no ruts, and World class riders can do four laps without making mistakes. The inherent problem now is how to create an outside racing line. The track dimensions cannot change (no room) and I'm no expert but if they could introduce more banking that might help. However, I do know that it is something that is being discussed.
  3. ZERO ... wild cards are decided by the Armando Castagna, Phil Morris and a representative of BSI, usually the Managing Director but with Steven Gould fairly new to the position it could be Paul Bellamy.
  4. HUNDRED times better when you are there. Appreciate not everyone can go or afford it.
  5. OVER 4,000 up on last year ... you could tell just sitting in the stadium that it was an increase. More Poles than ever. The upper tiers were packed. Dump Cardiff? Are you mad? What other speedway event could attract that sort of crowd. It isn't just the actual racing on the day. Having the stadium slap bang in the middle of town *unlike Warsaw for example) is a huge plus. Most people there had had a fabulous time before even entering the stadium. Terrific atmosphere. The actual racing will never match Wroclaw 2019 (was there too) but what a day ...
  6. BT contract with BSI has two years to run ...
  7. HIS performance in the 1985 World Team Cup Final at Long Beach (USA) was stunning. TK rates it his best and LB his favourite track. Also very of the very nicest guys you could wish to meet and today doesn't look a day older than he did 24 years ago.
  8. EUROSPORT are now owned by Discovery who are hoovering up major sporting events everywhere and behind one of the bids for the SGP from 2022
  9. THE problem for BSI or whoever will run the series from 2022 is marrying good tracks with places that fans want to go to even if the racing isn't top notch.
  10. WELL, it doesn't have a roof and about 45,000 less seats for starters
  11. KNOW what you are getting at but comparing Vojens, a ghost town, with Prague is stretching it...
  12. THAT would be the stadium who handle 'walk up' sales on the day, But, bruno, you are missing a great day and cheap tickets available for months.
  13. MY decade as the Daily Express speedway correspondent included the Spring Classic when John Davis won. The then Sports Editor, Fleet Street legend Ken Lawrence, was there with me on a Thursday night and my report, and a later rewrite, were carried on the back page in every edition. Ken was always prepared to give speedway a good show. Also had the back page when Michael Lee won his WC in Gothenburg. But in their infinite wisdom the BSPA scheduled the following year's SC on Maundy Thursday... the day before Good Friday. At that time national newspapers were not published on Good Friday. Ken and the DE were not amused. And their involvement in what was a star-studded event was doomed from there on in. Why sponsor an event you cannot report on?
  14. YOU would get very long odds on it not being KT and NP. As previously stated, very highly rated within the industry.
  15. YOU may be the only one on here, although I doubt it, but Nigel is very highly rated at BT, Sky, BSI, Talksport, etc. Natalie does a good job because she knows her subject. During my time at the SGPs the likes of Charlie Webster and now Kiri didn't have a clue. But why does it have to be a female, and I am certainly not being sexist. Chris Louis and Brando are far better because they can talk the lingo to the riders.
  16. TICKET sales are good apparently. Got a boost when Tai returned. He may not be able to win the WC but has never won at Cardiff. He will be going for that.
  17. WOULDN'T argue with that ... maybe throw in Cardiff as well.
  18. I DID, at the old Reading stadium many, many moons ago. Cannot fully remember the circumstances but think there was at least one exclusion followed by engine failures and falls.
  19. LOOKING more and more like two wild cards will go to Doyle and Woffinden with Hancock a possible third.
  20. NO one would sell or buy rights for 99 years. Tenders for the five years from 2022 have to be submitted to the FIM in the next few weeks
