I SUPPOSE if you went on their respective GP careers it would have to be Jonsson over Lindgren

AT a guess a couple of weeks... -
EASTBOURNE have admitted this weekend that their average crowd this season is 770... INCIDENTALLY, no evidence to suggest that BT Sport are remotely interested in domestic speedway.
-
DO you seriously think BT Sport haven't had a call?

BECAUSE, as many have alluded to previously, Prague is a great city to visit and for many that is a vital component of a SGP weekend. -

IT'S not my job at all but along with others had a long conversation with Pavel Ondrasik about the track after the SWC this year. As I said, he is much more pro-active than his dad and is determined to make some improvements. There are things they can and cannot do regarding the shape but Pavel is well aware that a better racing surface will put more bums on seats especially now that the Poles just don't turn up in their droves. -

I DID but Pavel Ondrasik, son of Petr, is much more pro-active than his dad in that respect. The Marketa used to produce some good racing years ago so the potential is there. -

I COULDN'T possibly argue against racers and royals earlier post (110) ... however, I would stress that until the ink is dry on all the contracts and the FIM have verified the calendar nothing is carved in stone. -
OF course, there has never been any definitive proof because the BBC would not reveal voting numbers and a top Sunday newspaper columnist of the time denounced the original "a vote for Briggo is a vote for speedway" campaign led by Speedway Star in 1964 after Barry had won his third World title in Sweden. But there was certainly a very string belief that Barry did, in fact, poll more votes than Mary Rand, who ironically became a close friend and near neighbour of Barry and June in California. There was far less suspicion of rigging in 1966 (BB again won in Sweden) when he was runner-up to Bobby Moore who, of course, had England to their first and only World Cup win at Wembley.

Poole V Birmingham 1st Leg Grand Final
PHILIPRISING replied to pirateandi's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
HAVE posted here before that I wasn't there and didn't even see it on television so cannot really comment ... other than to say does anyone seriously doubt that had the meeting continued Poole would have won by more than seven anyway? I WASN'T casting a personal view (see above) simply passing on what I was told over the weekend by someone who was there. -
BRIGGO was runner-up twice in 1964 and 1966 and Tai is British, born in Scunthorpe. I would agree that he hasn't a chance of winning but an effort should be made to at least get him some recognition

halifaxtiger ... an top class, ex-rider I spoke to recently who was at BV on the night of the Poole fiasco told me: "The track was bad from the start but just about rideable. The work carried out after heat 10 pushed it over the edge and after one more heat it was obvious that the meeting had to stop there and then." Now some might think that was deliberate sabotage but he didn't think so. The chances are that even if the meeting had continued Poole would only have gone on to win by more. Make of that what you will... -
Wild Cards 2014
PHILIPRISING replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
ABSOLUTELY... -
MAYBE a little more if tracks acquired any sponsorship on the back of TV coverage...

SOMEONE, who wishes to remain anonymous as far as this concerned, has worked out that to replace the Sky money paid to each EL club this year - the bulk payments plus fees for televised meetings - each track will require an additional 341 paying customers in 2014 for every league match they stage. Yet there are some promoters who claim that without speedway on TV these people will flocking back through the turnstiles.

BUSY day for Tai on the BBC tomorrow (Wed) ... schedules are always subject to change of course but at present Tai is due on the sofa with BBC TV Breakfast at 07.35, live of Radio 5 Live at 07.50 and on BBC News (the 24 hour channel) at 08.45. Would like to add that this is the result of hard work by Nicola Sands, Media Manager, at BSI/IMG.

Wild Cards 2014
PHILIPRISING replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
IT'S a joint decision between BSI (Paul Bellamy) and the FIM (Race Director Tony Olsson and CCP Director Armando Castagna). They are hoping to name the wild cards and the 2014 calendar shortly...
