  1. THESE decisions are always made in the eye of the holder (no, not Chris) and rarely are absolutely black and white. Plenty agree with Nicki, plenty don't ... nothing wrong with that and good for sensible debate, which isn't always the case here.
  2. STUPID and unnecessary post but, as you requested it, thought the referee was spot on... WRONG on both counts...
  3. BJERRE had a dislocated shoulder which Nicki P's physio put back for him and he has a bettered and bruised hip. Full extent of his injuries weren't immediately apparent last night but no doubt he will contest the GP Challenge on Saturday but as Mr Tatum would say he will be "feeling very second hand."
  4. Sorry, that was misleading. Those riders around the monitors felt that NP was the cause of the accident and that TB had no say in the matter! MAYBE, but in matters like this I always feel riders are better judges than people like me who have never ridden a speedway bike let alone been in that situation.
  5. QUITE a few riders watching on the TV monitors in the Vojens pits wouldn't agree with you.
  6. ALL five Danish World Champions here tonight ... Ole Olsen, Erik Gundersen, Hans Nielsen, Jan O Pedersen and Nicki Pedersen
  7. MOST of the 6,000 is seats under cover... MAYBE not be you are ill-informed
  8. ONE of the reasons the FA put forward for pressurising Wembley Stadium (which, of course, they didn't own in those days) to ditch speedway was the alleged damage to their supposedly pristine soccer pitch
  9. JUST (16.20 local time) spoke to Pete Adams... says Tai is about 80 per cent. Any points today, with Greg missing, are a bonus.
  10. NO but then probably couldn't on a rain-soaked Vojens either
  11. AT the track, clear sky, nice and warm. Need to pinch myself!
  12. SPOKE to Gollob's manager in Gorzow and was told that he was now very unlikely to accept the wild card slot in Warsaw, which had been planned as a swan song for him. Had a massive two-year deal with Torun which some of his team-mates believe is the only reason he has carried on this year. Never say never but he certainly wouldn't contemplate the GP again. When I had my eye-to-eye interview with Emil I came away believing that not returning to the SGP yet is his decision but also that if his manager Susi pushed him he would change his mind. Sadly, don't see that happening in time for 2015.
  13. HAVE also posted some comments in the GP Challenge thread....
  14. CANNOT argue about the capacity ... as regards the track Horsens are having custom made covers (like those at Vojens) and apparently have good drainage. Obviously there are other commercial advantages for BSI with great support from the local Horsens community, etc.
  15. DON'T think Gollob will be riding next year after his current contract with Torun expires, Sayfutdinov told me he doesn't want a wild card for 2015 (great shame), Iversen will get one, THJ almost certainly unless both Lindgren and Jonsson qualify (highly unlikely), MJJ doubtful because so many Danes will already be there (could be as many as six if they fill the top three in Lonigo and Bjerre gets in the top eight), Hampel probably if he doesn't climb into the top eight, Ward if he isn't banned, Vaculik doesn't seem interested...
  16. NOT entirely true... Horsens (we are told) will have a capacity of around 13,000 and in general has better spectator facilities, more covered grandstands, etc. The other side of the coin, of course, is that a temporary track will have to be laid. Lot of politics as well, with OO still battling with his local council who have continually thwarted his plans (no financial help) to put a roof over much of Vojens.
  17. BEEN to Vojens more times than I can remember but cannot recall better weather than we are enjoying this weekend. Bet that's put a curse on it! Forecast is excellent, clear blue sky this morning and OO is hopeful of a 20,000 crowd. Over 16,000 tickets sold by end of play yesterday. Must say that the whole facility, including the track, was in prime condition yesterday. People genuinely gutted for Greg, not just because of the affect that it will have on his title hopes but the fact that he misses a GP for the first time. That was a remarkable record, a huge achievement on his part. With Woffinden also far from fit, the title race is suddenly wide open again. Of course we are going to miss Hancock and Iversen, and not see Tai at his best, but for some of the riders a golden opportunity beckons, not least for those currently outside the top eight.
  18. MATEJ Zagar told me today that he will definitely compete in the GP Challenge and not withdraw as he did last year. The reason? If he did pull out Zagar would receive an automatic three day ban by the FIM and miss riding for his Polish club Gorzow in their championship play-off meeting the following day. Cannot say he is delighted at the prospect of a 1,300 kilometres drive after Lonigo.
  19. THEY went on fact finding trips to GPs to educate themselves about several aspects of building a new speedway facility ... track drainage, preparation, pits, lighting and so much more. Not in order to run a GP but to stage speedway in general. Why (SCB) are you so hung up about having a GP there?
  20. PERSONALLY don't envisage a GP at Belle Vue but plenty of other meetings could and should go there ... SWC Final, GP Challenge, World Under 21 rounds, British Final, list goes on and on. Still surprised how many on here haven't actually grasped what has happened since the original concept of a new speedway home for Belle Vue was formulated. The whole project is now much bigger than that, it will embrace other sports and activities, has enjoyed the backing of the local authorities, has had to jump through almost endless hoops and has still retained most of what was always intended ... a purpose built track, a splendid grandstand incorporating conference facilities, bars and a restaurant, and the potential to increase its basic capacity by several thousand as and when required.
  21. STEFAN Andersson has resigned as Swedish team manager after receiving abuse from some fans in Sweden after including him in the Piraterna team two days after his failed alcohol test in Daugavpils... at which time, of course, Ward was still in possession of his racing licence.
  22. I COULDN'T possibly comment! I would hazard a guess that if BSI had their way there might not be a Challenge at all... Harris the latter day Andy Smith who always seemed to reserve his best for the Challenge and ensure his continued participation.
