Tai Should Never Ride For Team Gb Again
PHILIPRISING replied to robert72's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
BETTER still, let's leave it where it is. Tai is British, happy to be so and proud to wear the Union Jack despite his 'antics' on the rostrum, which have been pointed out to Peter Adams. Incidentally, at least we have a Brit consistently on the rostrum. -
DON'T think so

Tai Should Never Ride For Team Gb Again
PHILIPRISING replied to robert72's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
WHY? Plenty of people, not just sportsmen or women, ply their trade abroad but are proud to represent Britain when given the chance. Tai is passionate about wanting Britain to succeed at international level. Perhaps at BV next year we will have a chance especially if Scott Nicholls can be persuaded to ride on his home track alongside, for example, Tai, Harris and Lambert. -

NOTHING mysterious about it ... as far as the FIM were concerned they were British as New Zealand had no direct affiliation with the sport's governing body and were represented by the ACU. -

British Tv Rights For Sgp & Swc ?
PHILIPRISING replied to oleoleole's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
BOTH Eurosport and Sky were involved but only Eurosport were really serious but don't have the sort of money that BT were prepared to pay. BT will do what Eurosport and Sky did before them ... take the world feed pictures and commentary from BSI. Hopefully that will involve both Nigel Pearson and Kelvin Tatum although how Sky feel about that remains to be seen. What we don't know as yet is what sort of studio presence BT will employ. It would appear that Eurosport have dropped the Swedish League (insufficient interest apparently) but there are some hoping to put together a magazine style programme that could include TV clips from not just the SGP but also the various leagues (Britain, Sweden and Poland). It wouldn't be too expensive to produce but needs to find air time, perhaps on Eurosport and Quest who have no problem with either BT Sport or Sky. Early days yet but it would be a great to have a chance to get behind the scenes at various speedway events and show the public much more than just racing. -
I COULD answer phillipsr but, frankly, it would take far, far too long.

SOMETHING on which we totally agree... bingo! I spend a third of the year in the US and have never met anyone who gives any credence to Laudauer or anyone else who thinks 9/11 was some homegrown conspiracy. In fact, where I live for most of the winter (Sarasota) is where the pilots trained and yet no one questioned that they only wanted to learn to take off and fly ... and didn't bother about landing. There was a clue there! And back to Tai ... he's British and happy with that. -
THINK he had a GTR from Gerhard...
-
THE fact that Chapman and Godfrey were voted in virtually unanimously would suggest that they have the necessary support to start making changes.
-
OF course it was daft ... a but like Parliament passing a raft of new laws the week before a General Election. Not sure that Humphrey's idea of the legal ramifications had anything to do with it either. More likely just a cock-up.
-
QUITE right and in SS we pointed that out but despite the protestations of some they went ahead anyway. Yet another reason why a new broom is required at BSPA HQ.
-
IT wasn't a promoter who "broke the rules" about goggles. We are talking about the rules that govern averages, r/r/ and guests for example ... subjects that have driven and continue to drive fans away from the sport. They can and should be simplified. About what you can do rather than what you cannot to enhance what happens on the track. People have been moaning about the BSPA for years. Now there is a guy in the hot seat who is prepared to listen and act. Of course there will be differences of opinion and not everyone will sing from the same hymn sheet. That's impossible on both sides of the fence. Listen and read what Chapman has to say and give him time. Is that too much to ask?
-
YOU will see that fairly quickly. It is racing rules and team building that he wants to tackle. Speedway's rules should be simple as the late Ian Thomas suggested. Every year they got more and more complicated. Of course they need to be properly enforced but that, too, is much easier the less complex they are.

NORMAL procedure would have the Chairman and the MC elected at the start of the AGM rather than two weeks later. DAMNED if he does and damned if he doesn't in your eyes. Ever the cynic. One thing he is determined to do is get rid of the double tactical sub rule... which in itself would be a major step forward. As I say, give the guy a chance.
-
RADICAL proposals from Chapman ... wants to organise a fans' forum to hear what supporters have to say ... rewrite the rulebook .... lots of good stuff but it will take take and require the backing of his fellow promoters. But the guy is determine to make changes and deserves to be heard and supported
-
BUT it wasn't the established procedure as you probably well know.
