  1. Wonder if the international rider is Mikkel Bech? Or Jack Thomas to return??
  2. If it turns out to be Ellis/Covatti and Lawlor next then it’s a much better balanced team by the Mason’s. Decent top end strength with Harris & Ellis able to handle most heats 13 & 15 and Garrity comes up with the odd meeting where he’s unbeatable too. Hopefully they aren’t relying on away wins in Scotland! Paco should score well at reserve and with Shanes or Morris at second string they’ll always have a decent reserve this coming year without any foreigners who don’t know the tracks and are struggling to compete.
  3. Having stayed loyal to Nielsen for a few years now, I think Rob has missed a trick by not getting him back on such a low average when he’s proved what he can do round the EWR. Rob also talks about the 1-7 all knowing the EWR, which is true, but on an even track without a power packed team the odd home defeat is inevitable (even Glasgow lost at home this year ) but it looks like away points are going to be very hard to come by! No new names to excite and intrigue the fans unfortunately. Yes I know that Palin is new but he’s there for development and a star of the future rather than immediate points scoring. At least Auty & Ayers offer bags of entertainment.
  4. Worrall as a number 3?! That’s going to be some top 2 that are better than him! Makes you wonder if they’re using too many points at the top end though when Steve could easily handle being number 5.
  5. That’s a special signing! I’ll have to make a trip to Owlerton now. What average will he come in on?
  6. The second option makes a stronger team than the alleged one.
  7. Plymouth’s application to join the Championship has been declined.
  8. The rumoured team is going to be correct isn’t it. Not a play-off team imo.
  9. Buxton themselves haven’t made noises about rejoining the league, but you would’ve thought now is as good of a chance as any with Sheffield moving away from Sunday’s coinciding with Stoke closing. There’s opportunities for fans there to make Buxton their summer speedway fix before finding an alternative. But I still don’t see it, I think the repeated loss making and unjust criticism has taken its toll on the Moss family.
  10. My original comment was based on the rumoured line-up. This season has ended. There’s no more meetings at all let alone Scunthorpe meetings.
  11. The NL AGM might be sooner than you think this year.
  12. Yes in terms of entertainment Ayres and Auty are top notch. I meant in terms of results and preseason optimism.
  13. Yeah Auty will drop down to number 5 quickly but I expected Allen to push on properly this year and cement the number 1 spot but he didn’t manage it. Signing Danny was a big winner last year but he’ll be coming off the back of a fairly serious injury and won’t have the confidence boosting NL heat wins. And he really is a confidence rider! Lambert has never really got any better than a 4/5pt man so I just can’t see next year being any different despite his strong end to the season at reserve. I feel like Palin is 1 year too early which Rob has done multiple times lately. Riders like Williamson, List, Bates, Perks & Bailey originally all spring to mind who are talented but made the step up maybe a season too soon. As for Aarnio & Jorgensen, they’re effectively the new names without being new! Both useful riders on their day but neither likely to up their average much and Jorgensen had a pretty poor season at Newcastle so I hope a move back to the EWR will help him out. Aarnio has improved since his last Scorpions stint but is injury prone.
  14. Nothing there to inspire the home faithful unfortunately.
  15. Give him a break. His press releases are more honest than most clubs’.
  16. Are they just rumours being recycled though seeing as there’s an empty stadium sitting there and there was genuine plans to try and get the club back in the NL this season? Or is there something substantial to this talk?
  17. I know what you’re thinking of but I think it’s whether the meeting is set at amateur or professional level. The incident you’re referring to was a couple of years ago. But Stevie Worrall rode at Smallbrook this season in the NICE Challenge and that was an open international event.
  18. Hope so. Gives meaningful fixtures and allows Len his weekly meetings.
  19. I’m not surprised that Kent are applying to move up. Their an ambitious set up with a very good stadium and relatively big crowds. Their only problem might be finding international riders willing to ride that early on a Monday with the M25 to contend with too. Then cue the complaints about a blue groove track.
  20. Substantiated rumours tonight that Kent will join the top flight. There’s going to be no team s left at this rate
  21. So Tom Perry can manage to guest for Peterborough today, so why isn’t he in this meeting? I still think Perls is favourite but it’s not that clear cut but Kinsley & Kemp are going to be there or thereabouts. Best of luck to Morley and Verge and of course Ben is a double winner so you cannot write him off!
