Is this a reaction to what someone has told him has been said on here or what he has actually read as I don't recall anyone actually saying much if anything about his inclusion.. In fact I've just had a look and bar Lionking pointing out Perry had a shocking year last year (which I guess even he would probably admit he did) I can't see anyone saying much at all about Perry. Most of the comments about Clegg are also positive, they just point out it may be too early for him and as such he may not have been the best choice available for this season . Which again I would say is a pretty valid point.

Jeez... the reason I will not be going to BP has nothing to do with a grudge, but everything to do with the hopeless entertainment value on offer at the venue. It clearly doesn't prove any point you're trying to make. Granted, It does have a lot to do with the promotion but it isn't a chip. Exacerbation, maybe. I am sure just like all the other fans who dreamed of seeing Leicester back but who don't bother going anymore can't be deemed to have 'got a chip' either. Maybe slightly more so though for me as i'm still here whinging about wanting it to change. Much like you do now, I spent 2 years praising the good points to the hilt, it's worn thin on me now.

you're right 1 valve, If I'm getting my speedway fix at all next year it will be at some other venue than BP next season. Probably going to see the Lions away. For the record, I'm not trying to achieve anything so that is probably why you don't see it. I, like many others who have already stopped going, are speedway fans first and foremost and I am voicing my opinion that I a would like to see Leicester with a bright future with great entertainment and big crowds. I, along with many others, don't see that, but there you go. I do agree that Doyle is a great signing for the Lions. If the rumour that Lindback is also in then we look pretty competitive. A good start to a competitive away team also. Here's hoping.

as just examples among many, i think if your tractors are disappearing, issues regarding work involving plumbers / sponsors, then the management choosing to ignore the negative value of their season tickets, to me points to living beyond your means. My personal opinion of course, and i'd hate to be seen as just someone with a chip on their shoulder but I can't believe anyone at Leicester wasn't hearing these rumours among many, many others last year. At the end the day though if DH can make it work for him then all good. I can't see it though and mainly because of the action on the track hasn't been anywhere near of a standard that speedway fans have been willing to pay for.

It's not a case of told you so at all. In fact let's hope you're right. They clearly see the opportunies of TV exposure and local derbies as the answer. As you can clearly tell I can't say i'm convinced they have their sums right, they have the track right, or they have the business plan in place to make that gamble pay off.

Yes Tina, it is. I think that is clearly the inference i was making. That with the exception of Glyn Taylor, our management team have shown themselves time and time again to be absolutely clueless about speedway.

What is interesting is having read the article do we think the people who made the picks for Leicester understand the difference in standard between the 'Defence' league and National leagues? This may be the issue. I seriously question whether they do.. Forunately for them, with luck defeating judgment, I think they have picked riders who have the talent to not end up end embarrassing the management too much.

So far the overwhelming evidence actually points to the NL level riders being the ones who can overtake on the track. Unless you're hinting at the NL level EL riders in the EL teams in which case you might be right, am i wrong?

It's 12 pages since anyone last mentioned the absolutely shocking exuse for entertainment that is produced at BP in the name of speedway. After 3 years It looks like we may have finally got over it, accepted it for what it is and moved on, no?

Got my season ticket renewal e-mail today. Even though i was told different by the man himself there is nary a mention of an acknowledgement for the piss poor value of last years season ticket, just mention of how it will be us, the season ticket holders and sponsors that will allow the club to secure an Elite league team for the coming season. Unfortunately it won't be any my money helping to do it. So how many season ticket holders on here are renewing? I'm clearly not, but will i be in a minority?. I know of at least one other season ticket holder who is holding off this year though that is rather because, like me, he doesn't rate the chances of us having the business plan or finances to make the season out. Mick.

Rumours i'm hearing are that Gary Havelock maybe arriving as team manager and Yulia and her mate Sarah Braganza are currently in charge of putting the team together!. Might explain our stange reserve picks (no desrespect mean't to Perry and Clegg though i fear i'm about to join Lionking in the stocks for just pointing out the obvious!) and Yulia's bizarre statement about why we haven't signed anyone. If we end up with Havelock it would be a final confirmation of what everyone must already know about Leicester Speedway. Clueless doesn't even begin to explain it.

Well i heard a rumour that would have even you Coventry fans laughing at the ineptitude of the Lions promotion. I do hope it's wide of the mark but i'm fearing the worst.

There is a level of sarcasm in my original post SCB. We all know that's not the issue but if, heaven help us, it is, it shows a level of naivety from our promotion even I wasn't willing to attribute to them. Luckily for Julia and David, there does still seem to be a high level of Lions fans willing to give the promotion the benefit of the doubt even when the truth about our new signings or lack thereof Is slapping them squarely around the chops!

I see the reason we haven't signed any riders has just been explained by the promoter's wife on Lions supporters club facebook. It appears that no club can sign another clubs assets until after Dec 16th as the are protected until that date. All is well again. I'm learning a lot on facebook tonight. Is Yulia our new manager?

Good to see the youngsters getting right behind it. Just reading the thread on the Leicester facebook site between the Lions fans and Max Clegg. Couldn't make it up!

yep, looks like the only way they can get anyone to sign for them at present is for the riders to have no choice! I'm a benefit of the doubt type these days Big Al so I gave the amount that were there at the start, admittedly for various reasons most of those had cleared off by the interval though!!

The trouble is i would have thought the reason we have gone elite is that not enough people turned up to watch the Premier league on a Saturday, so it defeats the object if we then start riding every Monday, Thrursday or whatever other days are mentioned. You only have to look at some of the issues and the decisions made last year to realise the prediciment they're in. Remember, Last time we rode on a week night about 600 people turned up to watch a GB vs Australia match that on the face of it looked a pretty decent pull for the non regulars. If Glyn isn't involved with the signing of riders any more then there is the problem. If you were a rider wouldn't you look elsewhere before considering signing for the Lions if your dealings were with David Hemsley. The reputation precedes him methinks. See those Youtube clips.

Absolutely spot on Lionking. 1 point though, about Leicester always paying the riders on time. How are you so confident this is the case. It's a fact that is constantly turned out from various fans in the case for the defence but I heard a lot of rumours circulating last year to the contrary. I'm not saying who is right. I was just wondering where your confidence that this is the case comes from. We ended the season with basically 2 riders (even at the end of season do only those same two riders turned out as far as i am aware).

That's interesting Flagrag. And I would have thought a club that we are constantly informed for all their sins always pay their riders on time would have riders knocking down the door to ride for them. Sometimes you just can fathom it can you, makes you wonder about half the stuff you read? I guess, as mentioned in the star, if they manage to talk Glyn into staying on as team manager it would make the job of getting riders in a bit easier as i'd imagine without him most riders would run a mile, what with the reputation David Hemsley has for man management. Maybe that's the problem, who's doing the bidding. If Glyn hadn't been there last year i think from Somerset onwards we'd have probably had the team we actually did end with so to speak (i.e just Graversen and Doolan!).

so what is dave darcy? Is he back to being a supporter with a stand named after him, just a supporter sitting in a stand or still a promoter?
