Am i being dim or something. You are all discussing, and flagrag appears to be positively advocating, that the council, having only recently allowed a green space in a deprived social area be given away on a long term lease on the premise the new leaseholders do something that will be of benefit to the youth of the area (in the way of improved lesiure facilities for the deprived locality), should then allow the new leasholders to renege on the deal on the premise that part of the leaseholders plan had fell through, due to partners the leaseholders hoped they'd roped in for the long run not actually being tied down at all, and the place is now a bit of a tip (admittedly because the new leaseholders have turned the green fields into an eyesore, and probably unusable without great cost, by allowing huge amounts of waste tipping on the area!). And you're saying that because it's now the right tip it now is the area designated to help the regeneration of the local area (which has even lost the leisure facilities it did have under the current car park) should now be able to use the areas for extra carparking or sold on for industrial use to save it from being the eyesore the leaseholder has turned it in to??? That's what you're saying, Right? what a precedent that would set across the country with leisure facilities and green space. My guess would be even big supermarket chains would struggle to pull that one on green space aquired for the betterment of the local area, though admittedly i wouldn't put it past them having a go!

erm, it was discussed on a radio interview with the Leicester owner, and it was crossed over to here and discussed. If you have no interest in anything outside of turning up and watching then what on earth are you doing wasting your time on a forum such as this..
-
To be frank It doesn't matter whether anyone cares or not. The point being If someone is talking bull then i can't see the harm in pointing it out. If no-one points it out then as far fetched as it may appear people might actually start believing it.. ohh wait...

With the best will in the world Lionking you would have to be almost delusional to take in the version of events that you're peddling there. How unlucky DH appears to be (though luckily enough for him he appeared to keep coining in money from tipping waste on the sites that are none of his business. How weird!) Woods and trees springing to mind (no denying they would certainly have made a better view for the locals than the mountains of rubble!) Mick.

Bearing in mind that the club don't even seem to be able to afford to put a few slabs down so the wheelchair users can easily get to the disabled viewing area by themselves or, equally, appear to view the clamour from fans to honour one of their most loyal helpers as a chance to be making a few quid out of them i would guess the last signing needs to check one box only.. cheap! has Adam Skornicki retired from the UK?
-
my guess is they are just trying to work out whether they can name No3 all time Leicester sporting hero and ex cycle speedway world champion David Hemsley as Lions 3rd heat leader and are just clarifying what average he might come in on. Am i close?

Due to these legal reasons, do you have any idea how much 'the crazy gang' and 'dave darcy' had to pay for stands to be named after them!?
-
I noticed that someone had put forward the idea that one of the stands at Leicester be named after Dennis Manton. If anyone doesn't know of him, well into his 80's, he's currently very ill in hospital. He's a leicester stalwart who has put a lot of his life into getting Leicester Speedway back up and running as a comittee member of the Speedway supporters club . To my knowledge (At least until i stopped going last year) he was there selling 50/50 tickets week in week out despite his age. It appears that to name this stand in honour of Mr Manton comes at a price though.. £2000 plus 200 quid for a plaque. According to LSSC facebook It would seem people have so far donated almost £500 towards the 'costs' of naming a stand in Dennis' honour, and as yet not one person appears to have so far questioned why a stand getting named as a tribute to someone who worked so tirelessly for the return of the sport should stand fans at 2 grand. Maybe someone could start a rival petition so to speak, to try and get David Hemsley to name the stand for free (or am i missing the reason for the cost?). At least that might stop some people thinking the worst of DH and looking for any chance to put him down. anyways, just a thought as i've not had one here for a while.. Mick.

As someone who appears to have some of the most interesting and intelligent things to say on the subject of speedway elswhere on the forums, I think TMW's husband appears to hardly dare go within a forum, let alone a thread of where his wife posts, lest someone make that association!

You can see the crowds on the 2/3/4 bends and backstraights on Bet365. From what i saw, for crowds of 2000 to be in attendance at most of those meetings would required some kind of mass pilchard impression on the home straight. I may be wrong though.
-
I went to the ben fund then just watched a bit on bet365. I do know that from regularly watching bet365 there would have had to have been a lot of fans just out of shot for crowds to be anywhere near your 1500-2000 estimate, whilst pixel8's estimates clearly show that he is 100% man. Bear in mind that the stands at Leicester completely full seat 400 people. If averages were anywhere near 2000 you could have placed 2 of those on each corner and and 4 of them on the back straight and they would have been all been full. erm, i think as much as you probably don't want it to be the case speedibee's estimates would probably be very near the mark.
-
Whilst TMW certainly looks like a woman, her exaggeraeration of size (crowds in this instance) certainly makes a case for looks being decieving.
-
the last meeting of of the 2013 season i would have said had 300 people max. Going by what i could see on bet365 the last meeting of this season vs Poole was also way over 100% better than that but it still looked a crap turnout from what i could tell. It's all in the detail.

As much as you might think a night out with you at Leicester Speedway sounds like ideal way for someone to be entertained of an evening, don't be offended if i give your offer a miss! Mick. -

What are the knockers supposed to be knocking in your statement? Knocking your belief that something skillful happened and that 'something' raised the level of entertainment in some way.. If so then no, not much point. I can't recall it. Did it happen on bend one of lap 1 by any chance. Much like i'm never entertained by weatherwatchers excellent 5 bikes length apart 'team riding' or pass 'stopping' as we should now call it, It's clutching at straws and i think you maybe just trying to convince yourself, rather than anyone else, that there is an entertainment value to it all.. It's interesting the amount of people who defend the track, particularly the most vociferous, who would seem to have some level of involvement in the running of the place. Some major, some minor. Most of the defenders on here and facebook are in some way involved in the day to day running of the place. I do wonder if these people in some way appear to be trying to validate or defend their own involvement by not allowing themselves to accept the view of the majority of speedway fans or admit the blindingly obvious to themselves. Maybe it's a fear of losing their position and self importance within the set up. Surely someone involved at Leicester Speedway must watch the fare and think it's crap. Someone must be out there who could stand up to that challenge! either that or all of you BP track and entertainment defenders are all crackers!! -

The problem Leicester has that no other track i ever seen in my lifetime has is that it has only one racing line. You, Shalesearcher, Weatherwatcher, BTFC and TMW must be able to see that. It's not that hard to understand or see, surely. Because there is only one line the only pass you can make is by the riding in front messing up.. I don't think it's rocket science. To make out the there are genuine passes and then mention a non pass where a rider, although close, had the lead all the way down the back straight and and all around bend 3/4, or else mentioning a pass made between two Novices does not, i'm afraid, make a point valid. 4 riders entering the first bend at BP and finding position as the drag out onto the back straight is not what i or mostly everyone i've ever spoken to would call a genuine speedway pass. But there go, each to there own i guess. -

watching on bet365 last night had me wondering. That's the 2nd meeting in a row that i do not recall one single pass. I don't actually recall having seen one genuine pass all season although it has to be said i've only watched the ben fund and the bet365 broadcasts. Has there been a genuine pass at Elite league level at BP this season... Maybe a question for Ballinger if he's compiling a best of dvd? -

Pedersen looked dreadful on bet365 last time at BP (maximum this time!). Birks has looked good at BP but has had some issues getting around it. Buzz hasn't ridden before. For Swindon i remember Dakota North looking very good at BP a couple of years ago. Morris looks a fully formed heat leader around BP and i expect Worral and Greaves to match Bates and Clegg at worst. Masters generally looks good around BP and I can see Gustafsson doing big business in his current form (i see a bit of similarity in BP and Eastie if the gating boots are on). I think Robins to nick it! Egg and face at the ready! -

If the mistakes are big enough, or the moves and lines stupid enough then it has been known to happen. -

I think they may have picked that meeting because bjarne pedersen's excellent gating skills, coupled with his almost unique lines around the bp bends, means he looks to me to be one of the only decent EL riders who look likely to be passed at bp! That's not to say anyone has ever passed him though! That would need clarifying.. -

Tina, I guess you're still waiting for Darcy to put the track debate to bed once and for all then. After all, if he can pass on the track then your case will be well and trully rested. If Korneliussen is doing sub 62 heats how on gods earth can you expect someone doing 59 sec heats to have a 'good race' with him. blimey o'reilly Tina, you've surpassed even yourself with this post. Back to facebook with ya!! -

Absolutely spot on Lionstigers.. I'm not grateful for anyone bringing what we've got now back to Leicester. I didn't wait 28 years for that.. I would have rather waited 40 years and actually had someone putting down a track that actually resembled the sport we love than have someone kill the sport forever in our city by producing the dismal level of entertainment we have to suffer now. The reality is i think i would have preferred to have just kept on dreaming. Mick. -

Is it time to start some sort campaign on race night to get the track altered, akin to the Manchester United green and gold shirts things. Maybe a T-shirt harking back to Lions Red and Yellow past along with some sort of message along the lines of 'Hemsley, our track doesn't have to be this useless, it's time you sorted it out you muppet'... well, you know, something along those lines..
