A 12 year old solo speedway rider from Townsville has won the Australian Solo Speedway championships at Mildura’s Olympic Park circuit on Saturday night.
Brody Eves, who finished on 14 points after the heats and was first into the final took the title after local rider Cooper Riordan had led for one and half laps before his bike chain broke and he retired to the infield.
Eves beat Bryce Brigden of Brisbane with New South Wales rider Ben Cooke of Cowra in third place.
Brigden won his way into the A Final by winning the B final after he and Jordon Stewart of Mildura had finished with 10 points after the heats.
A countback put Jake Mitchell of South Australia and Mildura’s Jaimon Lidsey into the B final ahead of the unlucky Jack Norman of South Australia.
Mildura’s Declan Adams began in a blaze of glory by winning his first two heats but in going for an inside line he retired in field in his third heat.
Then he was excluded twice in his last two heats for going inside the markers which meant with six points he did not make the B Final.
