My first visit to this place. I can't see me being a regular, the 1830 start is too early for me. I had to leave work an hour early and got there for 1815 so any traffic problems and I'm buggered. It was flipping freezing, is it really June?
Been waiting for this to happen for a long time. Been travelling to Eastbourne for my Speedway although not keen on the place. Looking forward to watching Speedway at Sittingbourne.
Cheers. I'd already set off so missed your post but was pleasantly surprised when I saw the admission price at the track. Second-half junior match too along with various other riders practising made it decent value for money. Pity more didn't turn up though.
I can't see Barrovians supporting a Workington nursery team!
Anyway you are all missing the point, where is this team going to ride?
Also, you must be a bit crazy going over Corney. I always go via the Whicham valley. Much easier on the brakes!
The big problem with getting speedway back in Barrow would be a track! That problem is non-trivial.
If it did start up again though I'd maybe move back there. Couldn't miss that!
I must be one of the few original Barrow Speedway fans on here or even following the sport.
I watched Speedway there at Holker Street and Park Road including the abortive Bandits season. I was so gutted when the Blackhawks didn't work out.
Still, it is good to see Adam Roynon doing so well keeping the town on the Speedway map in some way.
About 3 years ago a request from me for an obscure 70's Speedway scorecard was printed in the Speedway researcher magazine. A bloke called Bryan Seery sent me a photocopy of an immaculately filled in scorechart from that meeting. His address was a village near Sevenoaks. I assumed it was the famous Speedway statto but I can't be sure.
