  1. You could be right. At least we had some hope for a while! Maybe, someone could do a similar rumour for the Rayleigh Rockets!
  2. 'Chicken and egg' springs to mind. If the intention is to offer training/practice facilities and start in the NL, they could have the opportunity to grow their own riders, which would be 'healthy' and is really how all teams should operate, ideally. I realise some fans won't watch/support, so called, wobblers, but many wobblers become good riders!
  3. If it is Towcester, we will ALL need to go to Specsavers!
  4. As the track is still visible, is it not possible to have a Grass Track event/demonstration race on it? Especially as the council appear 'onside'?
  5. I have always wondered why speedway disappeared from Milton Keynes, without being replaced. Don't get me wrong, I remember the problems with Elfield with the local residents, which probably caused the eventual demise. With such a concentrate of people, it should work, in theory. And motor sport is in the area anyway, i.e. Santa Pod and Silverstone.
  6. I am glad we still have some STABLE members on this forum!
  7. You really are a nasty little man aren't you Oldace. A bitter and twisted nobody with a huge chip on his shoulder. Well, I will leave this thread now, as it appears even the Moderator is part of this little Clique of 'put downers'!
  8. Bull to you too! The length of ban and fine will depend on how much you are over the limit! And whether anyone was injured! I don't think you understand justice mate! Be glad that you have been politely put straight Lioness, the usual correction on here is punctuated with some kind of sarcastic or unpleasant addition. Could it be because you are a Mod?
  9. Not true, there are different tariffs of punishment, depending on whether something was premeditated or not. I am not saying he shouldn't be punished, but I do not believe there should be a set tariff of punishment irrespective of the circumstances or the degree of over the limit. All circumstances should be taken into consideration and should reflect the level of punishment. From the little that we know and basing it on what we know, I would suggest the punishment should be towards the lower end of the punishment tariff.
  10. But what you don't seem to understand, is most criminal law is built around intent. It is LIKELY, Darcy didn't INTEND to get so drunk that he would fail a drink test and (maybe) put his co riders in danger. If this test is so crucial and so important to all riders safety, then I say all riders should take the test. I wonder how many would be on the same charge as Darcy! Or at the very least INSIST riders have one of these breathalysers in their tool kit to test themselves before entering the stadium.
  11. I didn't know what it was and having carried out a bit of research, it would appear it hasn't been made public. I thought someone else on here said he had been caught with dope in his system, but I might have picked up on 'failed a dope test'. So for Dudek it maybe something and nothing. But something the authorities don't like. However, as I have said, he drank a legal to purchase beverage the night before a race. He woke up the next, feeling fine, perhaps a mild hangover, got to the track, pumped up read to race, with no ill effects from the night before, (not saying this is how it was, but may have been). Is asked to take a breath test, fails due to a low tolerance level. We can argue all day that rules are rules, but in my opinion, if he receives a lengthy ban, I think it is unfair, based on my possible account of the events. If he got to the track still feeling piddled, then he should be punished. Trouble is, only he knows the truth of how he felt. But, the moment you use a drill to your silencer and intend to race using it, you have broken the rules. If you down a quantity of alcoholic drinks the night before a race, which all riders are entitled to do, you do not wittingly know whether you will fail on 2 pints, 4 pints, 6 pints or whatever? Therefore, you have not at the moment of drinking the night before, intended to break the rules. Putting just one hole in your silencer and intend to race using it, you KNOW you have broken the rules.
  12. In the context anyone, over the age limit, can legally buy booze, to use a tampered silencer in speedway, illegal. To use dope, hashish whatever name you call it, is illegal, in most countries, whether while riding speedway under the influence or a social user. I rest my case!
  13. I have fully explained my argument, have another look!
  14. Why? Booze is legal, silencer tampering isn't and nor is smoking dope. Obviously excessive drinking is illegal if you drive a car and if you ride a speedway bike. Where the boundaries are blurred regarding booze, is the FIM limit, apparently, is very low and Darcy was caught on a breathalyzer the following day, after the night before. Now, if at the end of the day, he had drunk booze, say at 10.00 am before the GP, I would have no sympathy. If he had stopped drinking at 2.00 am and was seen in a burger bar, seemingly sober, as has been suggested, I have full sympathy. If what has been suggested is true, how the hell was Darcy to know he was over the FIM limit? Yes, he could have said at 9.00 pm, time for bed and gone back to his hotel, but he is a young fella and I for one, would have done what he did. People on here can say, 'but he is a professional speedway rider and should act professionally', but as we know, these guys put their necks on the line and most earn about enough to earn a living. They are not paid like the 'prima donna' professional football players. Speedway is dying on it's backside, this 'hang em and flog em' aint going to help.
  15. Who is Suarez? Is he an Aboriginal speedway rider with a drink problem?
  16. Just as well they didn't speak to Scott Nicholls!
  17. I know we would all be nervous to have to give a breath test, as there is the 'you are never 100% sure', but the fact Nicki posted his negative result, may suggest he was a bit bum twitchy!
  18. As someone else on here alluded to, you do wonder whether Darcy was singled out for a test, as a result of a tip off. The way Scott Nicholls put the 'boot in' during his commentary........who knows?
  19. Me too SCB, I would rather have 6 or 7 pints of Stella!..........oh doh!
  20. But alcohol is not illegal Steve. I totally agree, drugs are wrong, but the guy goes out the night before a meeting and drinks legal alcohol, which unless I am wrong, you may have done too, as a rider. I rode Grass Track and I drank alcohol the night before a Sunday meeting.
  21. You mean Michael Lee style Steve? That is bad, I have to say. But being an ex rider Steve, what do you make of this alcohol thing?
  22. We have already been told that if tested, there is virtually a zero tolerance to any alcohol in the blood stream! So yes, there would have been a trace mid-day. Doesn't mean he would have been a danger, doesn't mean he wouldn't have won the meeting. It is the typical British attitude, build someone up and take great delight in seeing them tumble. I hope you are enjoying your cocoa Oldace, in your fluffy slippers!
  23. He is only 22! I still remember what I was like at 22 and if I had been a speedway rider at 22, I am pretty sure I wouldn't have been in bed the night before a meeting, in a different country, tucked up in bed with cocoa!
