Best wishes with it all! -
I recently read that the new Norton, is 2 valves per cylinder, which surprised me with a modern engine!
-
Perhaps you could offer your services and experience to the Isle of Wight, on a pro bono basis?
-
This is a club that is closed and is trying to return and I am sure they are not awash with cash. I would imagine they have already secured a lot of the potential sponsors, otherwise they wouldn't be moving forward with their attempt for a comeback. And don't tell me.....you are a marketing expert! Personally, I would say a great looking website will be the icing on the cake for IOW! As I recall, they need an airfence, hopefully that has been secured (no pun intended!).
-
True, but then a professional looking speedway website, does not mean there is a professionally run speedway team.
-
I already knew that SCB! Is there anything you are not an expert on?
-
Take no notice Bryn, IOW are not even up and running yet, but at least the website is a start. Looked ok to me, but then this forum is full of website experts that know better! Best wishes to Isle of Wight Speedway.
-
I would love to Bryn, but my rubber dinghy is out of action! But I do hope all goes well and best wishes to the relaunch!
-
Maybe you are thinking of the film 'Trains, Planes and Automobiles' Gemini?
-
I just looked at AA AutoRoute and they say 34 miles one way! That is going to be a costly taxi, I would imagine. Shame the old chap hasn't got a family member who could help? Perhaps Sittingbourne could offer a concession to someone who brings him, who may not be interested in speedway, but is prepared to drive him there and back? Say, charge them both half price, as a 'one off special'?

As I understand Trusts, the only way the above would be allowed, is if the Trust Deed said as such, e.g. 'If a track is not found after 10 years, I would like the following persons to benefit from the Trust funds'...which could be the Trustees, as Trustees can be potential beneficiaries. The Trustees are/were perhaps Mr Hill's children? Maybe Mr Hill thought 10 years would be plenty of time. Sadly, with the lack of land and planning permission, 100 years might not be long enough!
-
And, unless my memory is wrong, I recall all the hurdles were overcome, but the race track owners wanted silly money to lease/rent the land and wanted a long term commitment. I could be wrong, but that is what is in the 'memory banks'. However, why the discussion over the cost of using the land and lease/rent terms were left to the back end (if what I am saying is correct), that to me, seems a strange way to get a track up and running. But I am happy to be corrected and 'shot down in flames'!
-
Unfortunately, we can't ask Mr Hill if he is happy how his legacy has been, allegedly, spent. I wonder if it is usual to spend a lot of money on the legal side, when setting up a speedway track? Genuine question and not trying to be controversial. Obviously solicitors are needed for legal contracts, such as leases and rental agreements. If someone is looking to a solicitor/lawyer to forward appeals or defend objections, I can imagine you might have an 'open cheque book' scenario. Let's hope the new team are successful with or without Mr Hill's legacy.
-
That is true, but if the entity can't pay, who will pay? I would suggest someone will go hungry!
-
With respect, what reckless allegations? All that has been questioned is 'What happened to Colin Hill's legacy following his death and the so called understanding, his estate included an amount of money to be used to fund the revival of Exeter Speedway'. I understood from this forum of the fact that a sum of money was available for this purpose. All some people have asked, is, is this funding still available? And if not, where did it go? I don't feel that is unreasonable? At present, the only suggestion we have, is that it was used to pay lawyers/solicitors/barristers, for the failed attempt at the horse racing venue.
-
Well as Gustix said, let's leave it to the mods! Let's hope the guys behind the resurrection of Exeter, can do it without any funding from Mr Hill's estate. I wish them all the best!
-
Well you are not me....and by the sound of you, I am glad I am not you mate! This is a forum where people discuss things, I am merely discussing and what I said was how it came over to me. And I am sure it is how it came over to others. Perhaps you should stick to trying to resurrect Cradley Heath, which is another 'can of worms'!
-
Very true, but as I recall, we were led to believe it was a 'Mr Trump crusade' and I thought it was his money that was being used for the venture, especially as he was supposed to be a 'big shot', 'well heeled' businessman. It's always easy to spend someone else's money!
-
Good point, but if 'the nuisance' was behaving unreasonably and beyond the terms of the planning permission, maybe the Judge(s) had no option, but to agree with the complaint. If someone moves into an area, where there is speedway and 'the nuisance' is complying with their curfew, I would have thought it difficult for a court to side with a complaint from the new resident, in my opinion.
-
Let's hope so.
-
If it's true, it's not slander or libel!
-
I thought we had 'freedom of speech'.........Je suis Charlie, and all that!
-
You might do better with the other Trump's phone number!

If it was/is a Discretionary Trust, the trustees can pay out the funds to who they wish, so long as they all agree, however, if there was a trust deed that stated the funds were to be used for the resurrection of Exeter Speedway, I would suggest that the funds were not used as to Colin's wishes. But who knows how the Trust was worded.
