Perhaps if we left the EU it would create an opportunity for a watershed with reference to the above views?
-
The answer, surely, is on the basis that promoters, if they can get it, want instant results, rather than nurture and grow a rider over time. Perhaps it could mean clubs building a team that supporters can recognise from one season to the next, which supporters have been asking for. Perhaps the product, for some supporters, would be watered down initially, but would thicken up, as time goes by.

With reference to the red highlight - if that is a sarcastic comment, how do you know whether a number of British born riders are not being held back and not given a chance to flourish, due to being usurped by foreign riders? The National League is surely full of British born riders? It would then mean a return to only having foreign riders here who deserve to be here, based on true all round merit. I am not a football fan, but I am sure it would help football too.

Personally, if we come out, I think we should treat all potential immigration the same, i.e. no one is accepted unless they meet certain criteria. It would be good if we could have virtual zero immigration for a period of time, to allow the current inflow to be absorbed. I accept we will need to allow certain people work permits, i.e. sports people and probably seasonal workers for the farmers and no doubt there will be other special situations. But, in my opinion, the top line should be virtual no immigration for a while.

If we still have the freedom of people if we come out, if we negotiate a trade agreement, there is no point in coming out, in my opinion. Surely, freedom of movement is the top issue or one of the top issues, for wanting to leave?

Born in Rayleigh....was proud, until they demolished the speedway stadium!

Very true Gordon. In the autumn, we were told we would be in for a very harsh winter!......so far??

I am wondering whether you are 'Philip Rising' in disguise?
-
The speedway benefactor TUSK, could it be Donald Tusk, the guy who has been in discussions with our EU in or out? Peter Oakes may know the answer!
-
Of course, WE are assuming it is THE real Philip Rising....it could be a forum member CALLING himself...Philip Rising!

Sadly, it will always be a fight, for any new motor sport venue and a continuing fight for any existing venue, as illustrated above and of course, the Mildenhall situation.
-
I know that is the image we think the general public view speedway, but as supporters, we have to be careful we are not carrying a large chip on our shoulder, which is not going to be helpful in any negotiation.

Maybe I misunderstood your post. My understanding of your post, with reference to Labour and Toryshire, I thought you were referring to the general public. I see now, you mean outside of the city, the surrounding areas of Oxford are Tory controlled. Is it a fact that Tory councillors/MPs are less sympathetic to something like speedway than Labour councillors/MPs? I suppose so, if it is universally accepted that speedway is supported by the so called 'working man'.
-
I would imagine there are just as many NIMBYs who vote Labour, as vote Tory.

Oooh! Alright sailor! Keep your bell bottoms on!

I think that is called an 'overage'. I also think it can be set for longer than 7 years. I believe it is normally used to protect the seller, if planning permission is granted on the land in the future.

Had you been successful, the story may have hit the silver screen! 'Field Of Dreams' comes to mind!

Tsk tsk!......not really! It's a good album!

I am not keen on the smell of creosote, but do like the smell of castor, however, sometimes and according to my nostrils, in a concentrated form, i.e. lots of bikes chucking it out, it can smell like excrement! Foot note:- Smith & Allan Racing Castor, £27.50 per 5 litres
-
Perhaps the answer could be to put a bit of castor oil in with the methanol, which may help the engine life also! Assuming methanol and castor oil mix, but I imagine it does as I am sure some 2 stroke grass track riders running on methanol use castor oil as a pre-mix. Not sure if it is ok to mix castor and synthetic, if the main lubrication of the engine is synthetic?
-
Not sure what you mean. Up until their demise, Rayleigh riders were mainly using 2 valve Jawas, apart from dear old Terry Stone and all the riders used castor based oil. The non use of castor based oil is a relatively recent thing, possibly started by Gary Havelock who I think was sponsored by Mobile to use synthetic oil. I even think there is a synthetic oil which offers a castor oil smell. For me it is an important part of speedway enjoyment, but then I would be considered an old f4rt!

Not me Iris, I am too busy making a patchwork quilt, resembling the Confederate Flag, which I will be donating to charity.........if they will soil their hands and take it! -

What is interesting, is apparently, the flag mostly displayed /used by the KKK, is the Stars and Stripes. -

What tosh! The only way Somerset speedway could be labelled as racist, is if they intentionally used the con fed flag as a symbol for their club, to upset certain members of society. They would have innocently used the flag, in conjunction with their nickname Rebels. However, it has now been decided that the flag represents all things racist against black people. But the fact still remains, it was just a flag of a country (lower half of a country), at a particular time. I wonder how many other (universally accepted) national flags are bathed in blood, oppression, hatred and misery? Possibly our own?
