If you are looking for a rider to average around 4.00 - 5.00 away from home then Summers is your man. His away scores over the last couple of years have been shocking, its only his home form at Redcar that has maintained his average.

Redcar Bears V Workington Comets Pl 17/07/14

You can build a speedway track from scratch and build a great fan base, then you can ruin it within 3 years -
Simmo in his defence has been sickened to the back teeth by the current owners/promotors at Redcar Speedway. Their attitude is that its done our way and if you dont like it then go somewhere else. Unfortunately for the owners/promotors, many many supporters at Redcar have taken their advice and have gone elsewhere, probably never to return while they still hold the licence at the track. Falling crowds, poor promotion, managers not knowing the rules, managers not seeing the point of using a tactical ride as happened recently at peterboro where the Bears came back to grab a draw, which would of been a win had a tactical been used, prospective investors not eben being entertained but offered the chance to be a sponsor, we want your money but you can have no say because its our club and thats how its going to stay. Long standing volunteers and rider sponsors being insulted often in full public view, riders upset by the owners/promotors demands and no longer wanting to be at the club. Does all this sound familiar to any newcastle supporters ? believe this was how it went at Newcastle the last time they closed maybe just a coincidence that the promoter they had at that time is now one of those running Redcar. It is my belief that the current people running Redcar Speedway need to get out as soon as possible or there is every chance that Redcar will close its gates for good. They must be very close to operating at a loss with the current attendance levels. Oh....but hold on a second, if they do close the management will only blame the stay away supporters for the clubs demise and wont think for one second that the fans are staying away because of them and their attitude towards the paying public.

Redcar Vs Sheffield 18/4/14

After Newcastles defeat at Scunny this afternoon, anything other than a 4 point away win will see redcar top the group and qualify. -
One request to the Bears management: Get some more dirt down, went very bare very quickly...............

Think its pretty much the same with P&P days, everybody looks good on their own. All joking aside, Wilko put in some serious work and never hit the deck once. Lets see what happens when they line up with 3 other riders to contend with.

My thoughts on Redcar Bears 2014. Richard Lawson: Star man in a very average looking team, will score double figures in most if not all meetings. A lot of pressure will be on him to produce the goods. Hope he doesnt miss to many meetings with his Elite League team. Aaron Summers: Back again for another season, has in my opinion stood still for a couple of years at Redcar. Will be solid enough as a back up heat leader to Lawson. Hopefully with no Elite League money coming in he will up his game and start to show the consistancy that he has lacked over the last few seasons. Richard Hall: Not everyones cup of tea, certainly not a Kossa Smith. Last minute signing who had stated he wanted to concentrate on grass track racing this season. Home points should be solid enough, previous Silver Helmet winner, lets hope he is looked after by the management because if he spits his dummy out it takes him a long time to find it again. Suspect away performances. Wouldnt say a heat leader anymore at this level. Hugh Skidmore: Solid enough back up rider who really needs to kick on this year. Turned in some very good performances at Redcar plus a couple of stinkers. Not so decent away from home, maybe this year will the turning point for him. Carl Wilkinson: Entertaining to say the least, gives it everything, falls off a lot but gets back up and never gives in. Bikes have always looked a little suspect. Has stated he is doing everything possible to improve on his past years at Redcar. Willing to give the guy a chance to prove his doubters wrong. May float between second string and reserve. Jan Graversen: Major shock to my system when it was announced we had signed him again. Dropped very quickly last time he rode for Redcar. Needs to up his game a lot and show more consistancy. Its not all about gating, sometimes you need to fight for your points. Lot of pressure on with a youngster along side him. May score well early season from reserve which may see him float between reserve and second string which is a major worry for me. Luke Crang: Youngster starting out on his Premier League career. Not seen a lot of Luke but what I have seen he has shown that he is a lad who wants to get on in the sport. Hope he is given a decent chance. So overall, I would say a team that will run around middle to bottom of the league. They should win a majority of the home fixtures but not expecting anything much from the away meetings. May be a long season but at least we have a season to look forward to and I cant wait for the reduction in entry prices once the air fence is fully paid for.

Ok so Wilko might not be the best rider in the League, he may not be the best sponsored rider in the League, he may not have the most fans in the League but I would guess that most supporters at clubs he has rode for would say yes what a great guy, what a great team man and what an entertainer. If every rider who rides for my team showed as much grit and determination as Wilko does then I would go home happy every week, even if we got beat every week. I mush prefer to watch an out and out trier rather than a rider who is there to make the numbers up. Good luck for the coming season Wilko.

So just to add salt into the wounds, an end of season party which had been arranged for this friday, with tickets already been sold has now been cancelled by the management of Redcar Speedway with a new date to be given later. Suppose thats alright for those people who dont have to arrange things like days off work, baby sitters etc........some fans have now arranged days off that they no longer need, its just typical of the CONTEMPT shown by this consortium for the supporters of the club.

Dear CVS I'm not 100% certain but I believe that you are still a majority share holder at Redcar Speedway. If this is the case can you please please come back and take control of this sinking ship. I have followed speedway for over 40 years now, have visited most tracks past and present. What is now going on at Redcar Speedway is a complete joke. We have a leading consortium member who is doing his utmost to alienate sponsors, helpers and fans alike, his attitude is if you dont like it dont come, well a lot more are not going and the numbers are down week on week. Now we have the 2 brothers joining in the " We must get rid of these supporters campaign". Redcar supporters are known throughout the land as being colourful, noisey and very very loyal to their club, a club which you started Mr Van Stratten. The stand which was erected and you have to pay to get into by the way, has now had severe restrictions put on it all because the Brothers in Arms dont like children or noise. So Mr CVS, if you arent bothered and dont care what is happening to YOUR track then fair enough but if You do care, please come back and sort these jokers out before Redcar speedway just becomes another defunct track.

With regards to Matt Tress, he rides on a French Licence so if they say he is to ride in France then he has no option other than to ride there. The same thing happened when he rode for Redcar, he didnt make it back in time for a meeting at Rye House and as he wasnt injured Redcar were forced to only go with 6 riders as no Conference League rider was available at such short notice. Its an option that is totally out of his hands, he rides where they tell him to ride. -
Thought a rider had to complete at least 1 match in the current season before R/R could be used, I could be wrong.
-
Give the team a chance before slamming them, REDCAR are also 1.5pts under the limit so that must make them a bottom of the league team. Looking at the make up of the Plymouth team it doesnt really look that bad compared to some line ups. You have probably the No1 rider in the Premier League in Barker, solid support from Ashworth and a few riders who can improve their averages. For me your season will depend on which Boxall and Werner turn up, I have seen both of them turn in match winning performances but also seen them look not interested at all. So give them your support until the first set of averages at least.

Cant believe the Rye management haven't cottoned on to the Redcar managements brainwave. In an effort to stop fans printing their own scorecards they now issue the teams in the local paper in alphabetical order rather than riding order. They didnt think that fans would just print them with the numbers 1 - 7 instead of names
