  1. Thanks Steve, looking at the Blitzortung website - looks pretty lively all across the region !
  2. i am seeing thunderstorm activity in the Oxford aea currently - any locals on here for weather reports ?
  3. Apart from a few GP sooperstars aren't the majority of the riders the same in the PL as the CL :-) doubling up or doubling down whatever its called this season?
  4. OMG ... everyone knows its Eastbourne Eagles
  5. Poole are riding well at the moment ... but let's remember it's all about end of season p.offs and cup finals. Not sure that they performed too well last year ?
  6. The main reason why I dont subscribe to BSN.... cannot stand the non stop gabble.
  7. KL have every chance of winning this ..... Ipswich riders aside from Sayfootdinoff are average at best and very inconsistent away. Old boy King can havea good night or a very bad night. Roynon Kew scores all or sod all, and my old pal Adam Ellis of lakeside fame still is very inconsistent. KL have picked some good gusts and Lwisi Kerr know the KL track very well. Cook will no doubt give 1005. Let Emil race away and pack the lower order places, and I can see KL winning this 48- 42
  8. Very low key on the Kings Lynn website - just mentions that tonights fixture is against the Witches . No match preview. More page space is given to the net away meeting at Birmingham being brought forward by one week !
  9. Thank you Sir Sidney. How strange Mr N Pedersen should come up on a thread involving dangerous riding :-) Wagging his rear wheel as he went past and stuffing them in the fence his speciality :-)
  10. used to be the case that when both sides were using R/R they cancelled out and teams had to field a junior rider (their no 8 I think ) With the current fixed race nights and the shortage of gusts maybe this rule should be reinstated. It would at least provide spectators with 7 man teams. KL could use Palm-Toft or Lampart ? Palm Toft an ex KL rider might be the best option.
  11. SO .... does anyone know if there is still a rule of unfair or dangerous riding. IMO since the advent of air fences riders take liberties with their manouevres, a combination of the inflexible high revving narrow power band machines, track conditions and poor machine control
  12. Long forgotten ... did any of the current team ride then ? Old moaner Middleditch would have been TM. ... did any of the current team ride then ?
  13. Is there a water shortage in the Birmingham area? Every match report I read from Birmingham in the summer months involves complaints of clouds of dust from early in the meetings. seems a good way to diss any new fans to the sport….
  14. Historically Birmingham has never been a major spedway town. On and off throughout the years. But given the closure of nearby Cradley Heath and Wolverhampton, not to mention Coventry you would think that some of those supporters might have migrated to support the away sides visiting Birmingham :-)
  15. and there was I reading on the BSPL website that Musicylack wont be riding in more than Poland, as his ankle injury isnt up to racing on tighter technical tracks in England.........MAybe just maybe he gets paid a little more money in his natvie Poland that he does riding in England ????
  16. You are a wise man Racin Jason 72. West Ham once travelled to rivals Wimbledon, missing 2 heat leaders. No one gave us a chance including the Wimbledon riders. How wrong they were - even with just the one regular heat Leader Ken McKinlay we beat the dirty Dons :-) Arise the new kid on the block Malcolm Simmons - I am sure KL fans will remember Simmo :-)
  17. Surely if the boy Musicylak is with-holding his services to Kings Lynn , he cannot be allowed just to sign up for another club in the same league ? Kings Lynn surely have a contract with the rider for the 2024 season ? If he is allowed to ride for another club surely there should be a transfer fee involved ? For once I support the SCB BSPA BSPL (or whatever they call themselves nowadays) in barring Musicylak from riding in PL for anyone but Kings Lynn. I see the non viable PL is now regularly exposed as the fixed race nights of only Monday and Thursday racing, even with just 7 teams, just means fixture backlogs cannot be recovered. Some years ago I proffered that cancelled meetings should not be re-run. Teams should each be awarded 1 point. Clear incentive to home team to get fixture ON.
  18. Sorry guys - but speedway and nearby new housing just doesn't mix. Would you buy a new house costing many hundreds of thousands of pounds within earshot of a speedway stadium ?? Clutching at straws to think that a reduced footprint stadium with a selection of new housing on the boundaries would ever work. THe new residents would be forever lodging complaints and the speedway would slowly be placed under such restricitive terms that it wouldn't be viable. Swindon is but the latest example of this idea that you can have new housing estate and a speedway track in close proximity. Was and is never going to happen.
  19. All sorted ... .found a badge with the requisite year bars and "hammers" for the British League , KO Cup and London Cup in 1965. On ebay.
  20. LOL ..... not quite terromafan....... red, blue, white and yellow/black quarters at that time. Kings Lynn were the "Stars", yellow race jackets with a big green star . Pretty much all the riders were in black leathers ..... Olle had white boots :-)
  21. How different it was in my day. Made the journey up to Saddlebow Road to support the West Ham Hammers. Arrived at teh track and it was wet - they had a downpour probably an hour before start time. There were riders huddling in the pits and I thought I had made a wasted journey. Then the announcer came on and said Olle Nygren the West Ham captain had agreed to test the track. Well Olle by Golly didnt spare the horses going from a practice start full chat into the pits bend which looked sodden wet. The dirt flew and Olle flew round for a couple of laps inside and outside. The bikes warmed up and we wer treated to a pretty decent nights racing. Today the promoters call it off based on a " dodgy forecast" , a damaged pits gate hinge, a clash with a football match ....... no wonder they get so few visiting fans attending. Even the home supporters are losing interest.
  22. Season by season the noose tightens around the neck of British League speedway. British speedway has only itself to blame for the complications of fixture planning it has to negotiate.
  23. "As far as I can see, the earliest re-staging of this fixture is Monday 9th September. I wonder if this was taken into account. " Thought Ippo normally raced on Thursdays ? BV are a Monday club so why run it on a Monday ?
