Kent v Redcar tuesday 13th july 6-30 pm
old bob at herne bay replied to waco's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Kent Kings continue to load the odds against themselves with r/r for the retired Bacon, and lacking riders “in form” to take the r/r rides. Fortunate that Anders is not fit to race, otherwise a heavy mauling was likely. Even with their weakened team Redcar will be too strong IMO for the 5 Kent team, with Scott again having a busy night. Hope all riders have a safe meeting. -
Kent v Eastbourne tues 6th July 6-30pm

Cannot comment on the forecasting powers of the Eastbourne weather “guru”. Millions of pounds worth of computers have been trying to accurately forecast the weather ... still they get it wrong. Maybe you have Mystic Meg down at Eastbourne forecasting your weather. For what’s its worth very surprised that there wasn’t an early call off and a re arranged date after “covid unlock” when surely a larger crowd would be in attendance. Living just 20 miles away from Sittingbourne and it has been bright sunshine one minute then a heavy downpour the next. Still, you can get your admission money back .... -
King's Lynn v Ipswich 05/07/21

You just really do wonder whether there is a more deep seated problem at Kings Lynn. Well that's half a team and a team manager now gone from Kings Lynn 2021. By "mutual consent" seems to be the common theme. "Going in a different direction" I still cannot undestand the Craig Cook fiasco - once he left KL he hasn't looked back, and yes he cann ride the Kings Lynn track (as he proved last night) Maybe the trouble starts at the top ????????????????? -

Website updated ....... and states that meeting is still ON with a dry forecast this evening. Neither Jake Mulford nor Ryan Kinsley "available" at number 8 . Heeps got 1 point last night at KL. One for the hardcore supporters ... already a dead rubber ? -

Anyone on here with any updates on the weather near Sittingbourne? It’s bright and very breezy here in Herne Bay after overnight rain. Nothing on the Kent Kings website so far ....... -
Eastbourne v Glasgow CL 4/7/21

Heat 15 highlights on the EB website. What a load of rubbish. Endless blooming “gardening “ first from the rider in blue, then when he finished the rider in red started “gardening” Why does the ref allows this delaying of the start ? The coverage of the race was abysmal.... random clips cut together in some misguided attempt to make it look exciting. Still helps me to realise my days of ever attending a speedway meeting are over. Tedious . -

Kent Kings 2020?
old bob at herne bay replied to blueherb777's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
East End Fan, not sure that the 8.30 curfew has much to do with Kent Kings’ rider problems to be honest. Never likely that large attendances from away supporters on a midweek evening are likely at a track hindered by access via the awful traffic in the South East of England ( M25/Dartford crossing ☹️) Being prudent with club finances has always been a trademark of Len as a promoter, but will support be maintained for the Kings after another drubbing by Eastbourne on Tuesday? The side assembled for 2021 already missing Covatti, was always going to struggle. Both veterans Ledwith and Hurry originally featured in the team, Ledwith subsequently pulled out of the CL team.... With R/R for Bacon totally useless in a team of possibly 3 championship standard riders ......hard to see the Kings winning a meeting. Will crowds sustain the CL side ? -
Glasgow v Plymouth CL 2/7/21 @19-30

Red flag, Google makes it 484 miles Plymouth to Glasgow. I have travelled some miles in my time to see meetings rained off , but that must be hard to beat! -

Oh you mean " Dads Army" the 6 riders "past their best" who everyone wrote off as wooden spoonists at the beginning of the season. Highlights the issue that shorn of the GP sooperstars their isnt much left to beat in UK speedway ........ gives the youngsters a chance to learn and hopefully improve. These experienced " Dads Army" must be laughing all the way to the bank. -
Stars v Panthers. Thursday 01/07/21
old bob at herne bay replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Lynn riding without luck at the moment. Injuries galore. ☹️ Hope Rory isn’t seriously injured. Don’t think he would have given KL a home win, ( would have had 2 third places if he hadn’t fallen) but a closer defeat. Let’s face up to the facts and recognise that this Panthers team , cleverly built from a group of very experienced riders, are actually still pretty good, and showing up how poor most of the other Premiership teams are in 2021. -
Sad though it is for Paul Hurry - Steve is absolutely correct. Why on earth Len signed Paul straight into a CL berth - maybe in the hope of attracting a few nostalgic Lakeside fans to come and watch? - it has clearly been shown to be an error of judgement. He has been struggling to complete 4 laps of Central Park without taking a fall, and I really do wonder about his fitness to race competitively after so many injuries.

Let's not get too arried away wth the progresss of these youngsters. When you look at UK speedway 2021 they aint exxactly got a lot to beat if they are half decent. Team buidlign averaes weakened, r/r in almost every side , up and coming stars in every team and a few rabbits whose averages fit plus a sprinkling of "old hands". You have picked the best of the bunch, but they were already good prospects last season, and the season before that . The weak state of UK speedway leagues 2021 helps them along . -

If only the streaming services could just show the 15 heats of racing and auto edit out all the fannying about at the starts, false starts, trackside bike adjustments before every heat and tractor racing every 4 heats.. 15 heats of action in a programme that would last about 20 minutes tops. I would pay for that. -

Whoa Chunky ... steady on ...... How about running 15 heats of speedway in around 75 minutes .... then an interval of say 15 minutes , and then say 4 or 5 heats in around 30 minutes for junior racing, novice racing or even some invitation races to allwo the tteam to test machinery ? that looks like 120 minutes for a race meeting with up to 20 races. Don't believe any club consider that is even possible with the current bunch of promoters, track staff riders and referees. -

FORGET race nights FORGET crappy little or large stadiums FORGET admission charges. What can be changed ....... STOP gardening at the tapes STOP practice starts all over the track prior to every race. STOP riders jumping every other heat causing a restart STOP delaying every heat until the ref puts on the 2 minute warning STOP delaying meetings waiting for riders having 2 races in a row STOP delaying meetings for endless grading of the track. Tell the riders they are paid for by the spectators , tell them they are there to ENTERTAIN, not piddle about re adjusting chains back wheel nuts, cooling clutches, and refuelling the bike after every false start. IT'S BORING TO WATCH. -
