Teams instead now flooded wih mediocre europeans and australian riders.

Dick Lawson seems not be fixed up in the PL Jamie Lidsley seems to be going well in Australia and released by the National Speedway Stadium.
-
Similarly Wookieboy Don as you can probably guess, my team closed down way back when and I have been a roaming supporter of various clubs around London and the Sout East clubs until my health and patience and lack of clubs enforced my retirement. The last vestiges of any competitive speedway in the SE now appear to have been snuffed out at Kent "Eagles". I remain very critical of the BSPL who seem to operate their businesses as almost a secret society, unable or unwilling at EVERY opportunity to use the power of the media to publicise the sport. A few more press releases would at least get out the message that there is speedway still in existence in the UK.
-
Sorry Wookieboy Don , I strongly disagree. In view of the parlous state of UK speedway, an interim statement should have been issued to all media channels . If nothing else to confirm that the meeting has at least taken place yesterday ! Sadly this poor PR typifies the running of the sport in the UK nowadays. A publicity opportunity lost.

MMmm ....choice of 3 others other than Godgrey then ?? Votes please on the back of used fiver to the BSPL -
Dick Lawson seems not be fixed up in the PL 2026 ? You would think Christopher Louis could do a one year deal with a prospective buyer for the value of real assets plus an amount based on a percentage of the achieved operating profit in 2026 ?? Unless heโs thinking he can somehow claw back the money he has probably invested into the speedway operation over the years ? Dont see a speedway club as a good investment tbh โฆโฆyou own sod all โฆ..and operate in a rented stadium from a third party who can kick you out at any time. .

If Ippo do run in 2026, they coudl have a top two of Woofy and Lidsley, both of whom seem to be unattached at the moment.
-
Mmmm, judging by performance in Australia, dropping Lidsley might be a poor move. Still reckon the BV will make the p.offs though.

Probably lots of questions ..... but no one has any answers

Good call ๐ Looked that up on the web and he was really Howard Cole ! -
Given the alleged lack of profit or big losses involved in operating a speedway club business, I have always been of the opinion that the " promoters" do so for their own personal enjoyment. The people who come along to watch just help them to achieve theri enjoyment. They choose thier own team, they choose which league they oeprate in ,and enjoy meeting up with other promotoers who are on the same ego trip with theri personal ambitions. To them, it matters not a jot what their customers think, they are on an ego trip to try and win the p.offs . All this dross about doing it for the "love of the sport" doesn't wash with me. Nor has it for many years when speaking face to face with "promoter X " or "promoter Y" I have just been told " its my club and ill do what i want with it " or words to that effect. Sadly with promoter X he ignored my (and many others) comments and lost a shed load of money taking"his club" into the 1st divsion. Never, in RECENT years have I even had the decency of a reply to comments/criticism/suggestions to promoters team managers. So forgive me if i find this whole charade of the forgetful four , the famous five, the super six or the magnificent seven nothing more than winter entertainment. Supporters will get what they are given.

He ainโt going to announce anything that might devalue his โpropertyโ Although with every passing day that tractor start gate and air fence are deflating in value.

and I wouldnโt be reading too much into Matt Fords return to the Uk , other than the rules of residency surrounding Brexit. I guess Matt prefers to remain a UK citizen , rather than. French citizen . -

How could we forget Squire (aka Split) Waterman . A character he was. A pretty good speedway rider. ๐ Think the key point you correctly state is AFTER Speedway. Lived out a quiet life in sunny Spain ๐ Think the Vintage Speedway Magazine did an interview with him in Spain.
