Squall, Steady said at the last STAARS meeting that Kyle would partner Nicki at number 2.
-
I'm pretty sure that. at the last STAARS meeting Damien Bates said that the start time would be 7:30.

Sheffield Speedway help wanted
TigerAl replied to mike1944's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Pienpeesman, I'm a season ticket holder at both Speedway and Hillsborough and my view is that the majority of Wednesday fans were absolutely gutted that Steve Bruce has left us in the lurch just before the start of the season. He has completely mugged off the club that showed him great compassion following his personal losses last year and was then welcomed and defended against personal abuse from Villa fans only to turn around and become Mike Ashley's bitch. I wouldn't want to be coming back to Hillsborough any time soon if I was him, he will get slaughtered. We now refer to him as the snake. -
The new look Bears head into Town on Sunday 7th July. I can't see anything other than another comfortable home win, even with ex-Tiger Kasper Andersen in their newly declared ranks. The Tigers will be boosted by the return of skipper Kyle Howarth who will have a point to prove. Should be something in the order of 55-35 in my opinion.

Sheffield Vs Somerset 30th June Championship
TigerAl replied to TigerAl's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Two of the races had times of 59.50 and 59.54 only 0.4 from the track record. Speaks for itself really, must have been really dangerous. Anyone else notice that just before heat 13 and Schlein being due back on track they played 'it's a man's world' by James Brown. Made me laugh anyway. -
The omens are good for a bright, sunny warm day and this could potentially be a cracker. We have got used to close home meetings of late and this should be exactly that as well. Not sure on the situation regarding Zaine being fit to take part or not. I'm sure someone will have an update. A word of warning across the road in Hillsborough Park on Sunday there is the annual Owls in the park, which I shall be attending earlier in the day, so parking may be at a premium at Owlerton, though it should be on the wind down by the time the speedway is due to start.

Sheffield Vs Birmingham Championship 05/05/2019

Honestly, neither do I, but plenty do prefer to be inside, as you will see if you are there on Sunday. -
Sheffield Vs Birmingham Championship 05/05/2019

Carvery costs either £8.99 or £9.99 and if you intend staying in the restaurant for the meeting it is better to book a table (ask for one next to the windows). -
First home league meeting of the season for the Tigers. Slightly later start time for this meeting due to Wednesday playing the final game of the football season also on Sunday. I wouldn't advise getting there too early as the car park charge £5 for the football compared to £2 for the speedway. On the track, we should see a comprehensive win for the Tigers. I suggest 55-35ish.

Will Sheffield have an upturn in fortune today in what should be a bumper Bank Holiday crowd. Thread started before away meetings at Scunny and Leicester so hopefully decent results have returned already.
-
Can only see a sizeable home win here unless something miraculous happens to the Tigers form.

Sheffield v Redcar 7/4/19
TigerAl replied to parkendlass's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I stand corrected, thanks for clarifying folks. I wasn't aware of the protection for heat 8. At least it makes sense now. -
Sheffield v Redcar 7/4/19

For me Redcar made a grave tactical error in not bringing Barker/Wright as T/S into heat 8 for Jack Smith instead of waiting to heat 9 and replacing Nathan Greaves who was going well. Barker only then ran a third. Still happy for the win and terrific performances from Kyle, Danny and Zaine. -
This should be a close meeting. Tigers to pinch it, just, for me. The smaller track should suit Kasper and Broc. However, Kyle could use his bikes to be a bit more reliable and Ty could be a bit calmer and the rest should take care of themselves.

Sheffield Vs Scunthorpe CS 31/03/2019
TigerAl replied to TigerAl's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
A win is a win, I was surprised that Scunthorpe managed to run us as close as they did. I agree there were some gremlins and few poor starts which contributed to this result. -
Start of the new season. How do we see this one going? Can only see a home win but Scunny have a few who go well around Owlerton and Sheffield will have a number making their home team debuts, notwithstanding the Steel City Cup outing they all took part in last Sunday.

Last night's STAARS meeting was made up of ex-riders Simon Green, Phil White and Doug Wyer who told anecdotes about their careers and what they did after retirement from speedway. Only Julie Reading was present from the management team and there appeared to be brisk sales of season tickets happening. Julie confirmed that the anniversary meeting will be an individual meeting and that Ricky Ashworth is planning to attend.

Yes I was there on Wednesday and very entertaining it was too. First part was mainly Sheffield anecdotes and included Ty Proctor and Kyle Howarth and after the interval it was more about Nigel and Kelvin and their commentating stories from around the SGPs. Kelvin claimed to have beaten Shawn Moran once around Owlerton. Nigel once had a go on a bike at the now defunct training track at Sheffield with Shaun Leigh (the centre green guy at Sheffield) and both didn't fare too well. Nigel broke a finger nail which was enough for him to never go near a bike again !!! It was well worth the money and was well attended. There was a raffle with some decent prizes and some other merch on sale as well.

From the STAARS meeting; Kyle has kept fit by going on holiday with his girlfriend to Costa Rica. The referees don't report back on the quality of the track any longer. Steady thinks Somerset will be up near the top of the league. Fixtures will be out any day now. First meeting will be 90th anniversary celebration. There could be something different about the race jackets for the 90th anniversary season. No plans to run a national league team as access to stadium for race dates would be prohibitive. Ricky Ashworth has been riding a pushbike at Manchester velodrome.

I'm going as well
