  1. if we are to have one last throw of the dice it needs to be someone who can come in and score points from the off. Would Darcy Ward fit now the bottom end is weaker. Guess that would possibly need another change but we could do worse!
  2. The problem with guests is not the guest system itself, it's why its being used. The main problem they are used for these days, other than unavoidable injuries, is to cover when riders are 'validly' riding elsewhere - either in the Premier League or abroad. So the only way this is ever gonna stop being such an issue is one designated night for Elite League speedway not used by other countries. If it was one night, double uppers would only be able to come from those PL teams or don't race their home fixtures on the same night, to avoid most clashes for them. Guests are not such a probem in the PL as the riders aren't typically riding elsewhere so much.
  3. Doesn't Michael Lee do Kevin Wolberts engines this season...he's certainly been scoring better in the main body of the Belle Vue than he did for the Stars/
  4. Sky Sports now do a daily pass on Now TV - £9.99, so not very good value if you just want to watch a speedway meeting. When I first saw this advertised I'd hoped it would be more a pay per view for a program (and somewhat cheaper) I'll be sticking with my £2.99 a month for Eurosport as I've no intention of getting Sky just to watch a few speedway meetings. Will be even better vaue if Elite League moved to Eurosport next season...
  5. linguistics abilities do differ....Sky last week and Rosco continually refering to the scottish ones as Monaaaarrrrcks....
  6. Totally agree....I laughed out loud a few times. Think the wife wondered what I was watching on my laptop..
  7. I was hoping Mads would be back sooner rather than later, but reports have been confusing - some have said he'd be back for the play-offs, others suggested just weeks out. Guess it must be the former. R/R hasn't really worked so this could be a good move. Surely we must have used up all our bad luck now and hope we can get a good run to the end of the season.
  8. ..or maybe its just fan talk and the stars management are hoping David Howe will start picking up the points again once he get dialled in. Had a fairly healthy score last night for Scunthorpe. After a what now appears a hasty reaction to NK stopping scoring and seeing what he did in denmark recently maybe they are thinking carefully about any more moves...? If they do make a change it needs to be the right change, not a change for change sake.
  9. Even if David Howe was bought in to enable another rider to come in soon (as seems to be the case), then I would think he would want to score big to make the decision more difficult....especailly if he started scoring like he was last season before he got injured.
  10. I purchased it and watch on my PC - works just fine. I'd watch it on me smart telly, but wifey won't let me - she prefers Ant & Dec and The Voice
  11. in a similar vein, while at NA the other week for the Poole match my mate noticed the race times on speedway updates didn't match those given out at the stadium, not one single heat. Suspect this wasn't the updaters, but the updater taking the times off Sky who show their own version of race times
  12. Agreed....and we are one rider away from that at the moment....unless Howe does te biz.....or Klindt can sort himself out and come back in...or plan c...
  13. That's not so bad. EDP said Steady was doubtful....must be old news!! What does r/r for Mads give us - anyone bar NKI?
  14. Maybe 'only' a PL guest but at least its another option to r/r as we nearly came unstuck on Wednesday when Mads crashed out. Can't help think Klindt might pick up his game as his partner has just given birth. Maybe he's had other things on his mind recently as he wasn't too bad earlier in the season... Seems Mads may not be fit for this weeks matches against Swindon, so with Simon's return still in doubt could be a bit of a patched up team - just what we DON'T need!
  15. It is the racing that matters, but it helps to enhance the experience if the commentators are your cup of tea. They personally work for me, and I have to say Saturday was just brilliant all round. To a degree it has to be 'jobs for the boys' as its much more interesting listening to guys who know what they are talking about, not joe bloggs off the street. I share Kelvin's name too, but only in the christian name so I'm not related either
  16. Cracking signing. Hopefully we can welcome back Kozza next season when he has got dialled back into things...EL possibly a step too far too soon for him after coming back from injury
  17. If Steady thinks he's fit for Wed, then he needs to make sure he's fully fit. Would rather have r/r (if that's what we would get) than a half fit Simon. David Howe came back too early last year and struggled, he had the best intentions, but actually end up not helping the cause.
  18. Kings Lynn tend to start on time. 7.30pm parade, 7.45pm first race. If there is a big queue outside they do delay the parade 5-10 mins, but still seem to start first race around 7.45pm. Not really sure why lots of people always seem to turn up at the last minute...does annoy me when things are delayed due to queues still outside when I've made an effort to get there on time. You never hear of football kick off being delayed due to queues outside. It is a 2 way thing though - if promoters were more professional in running a tight ship, then punters would know better where they stood.
  19. One race day has to be the way forward and the pre-requisite for any team being in the EL and then a TV package that included best races from the other meetings (bit like goals shown for footy) would work well. But would it put more bums on seats or would more people settle for a night in front of the telly? To make that work and get people in to the 'stadiums' would need some serious thought by promoters at improving the overall product and presentation
  20. watched the highlights show lastnight...all done in 2 hours... £2.99 well spent - beat trying to find some dodgy internet feed as I refused to take out a sky subscription just for speedway
  21. I've got no packages...just the bog standard freeview stuff...hence £2.99 for me...
  22. £2.99 sounds like a real bargain - always avoided sky as didn't want everything else
