Another BBC program that might be worth a shot is The One Show - think he would be able to get a longer slot in the program with a few more action shots and a chance to give a bit more info on/sell the sport than he on the beeb this morning

according to twitter he'll be on at about 7.35am.....

Why Can't All Speedway Be Like This
kelvinht replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I don't like the 2 semi's in one night. You lose the thread keeping jumping around and don't get to see replays of all the better bits as they have zip off to the other track. Its all very disjointed, then you get a couple of falls as we did last night and it all goes to pot towards the end. Was at the Norfolk Arena a couple of years back when the Stars made the PO's - it was the worst nights entertainment I'd seen all season - not due to the racing, but continual stop / start nature of the racing and killed the atmosphere and it was a right drag. The play offs should be a great finale to the season, but in the current form they don't really work for either the spectator or arm chair viewer -
Kozza Smith also has his fair share of falls. Certainly seemed to be riding above himself when he first came over here and was good for at least a couple of falls a meeting. But he's settled down into a much better rider now, but still seems to attract his fair share of falls, not always his fault either. The other name to spring to mind is Ryan Fisher

Elite League teams must ride on only one or maybe two set nights per week avoiding main Polish/Swedish league nights. PL tracks not allowed to ride on those two nights either. Lessens the need for guests and r/r due to riders having primacy elsewhere and enable double uppers to always be available. Guest and r/r could then be just for injured riders, nothing else. May even enable some kind of squad system so guest or r/r is even more limited.

Gotta be the chap at King's Lynn - zero speedway knowledge = lots of mindless shouting = zero riders interviews = zero interesting chat / comments about speedway in general = zero fan involvement/atmosphere. We used to cringe/laugh at Mike Bennett, but he knew his stuff and got everyone involved...very sadly missed :-(

thought they where white with coloured stars on ?

Every track should have a Paul Johnson, would add a bit of razmataz...

Italian Gp Saturday 3rd August
kelvinht replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Thought it was another good GP, improved as it went on. Congrats to Niels...cheered me up after we (Stars) were docked two points on Friday. After Woffy, he is my next choice for a winner - got to back Woffy as his is the only 'Brit' this year and would be good for the sport in this country to have a world champ. -
Looks like Speedway has allies in high places. Can't believe the Duke and Duchess have chosed to honour one of own when naming the new littl'un Perhaps he'll be getting a knight-hood for services to speedway now...

British Speedway Failing Its Own...
kelvinht replied to muirspud's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Part of the problem of getting Brits to ride abroad in places like Poland is we seem unable to compete in the wide open spaces of the european tracks, whether that is down to rider skill (or ability to go fast), lack of the right equipment or both I don't know. There are too many 'trick' tracks in this country which will only ever mean riders who stay on these shores will never develop further. It appears to be easier for Johnny Foreigner to learn his trade on continental tracks and then fine tune when they come to the UK than the other way round. -

The problem with the car park was the single file exit with the poor 'marshalls' who weren't doing a very good job at letting cars out as they didn't appear to want to stop traffic on Saddlebow Road itself. Maybe a couple of police officers should have been employed to help. And was a poor program score chart. No where to record heat times, no where to put riders total after heat 16 and no where to add comments / tactical rides / jokers easily Oh, the meeting itself was fine, if a little dusty from time to time. Result as expected really. Not that i'm Kennett's number one fan, but he should at least have been given his second ride before being replaced. Cooky is a tad unfortute to have lost his place for the race off. Gave a reasonable account of himself. He will never develop if he isn't given a proper chance -
I make my own most of the time now. The team line ups in mine are normally correct as I incorporate all the last minute changes, of which there seems many these days. After all, I read most of the stuff I need in the Speedway Star or on the internet, so why spend £2+ on something that I'm just gonna stick in the attic and forget about..... One home program a season, plus any away meetings I get too or play-off's is plenty...

I can now see Team GB sneaking a bronze at this rate. Denmark and Poland straight to final. Team GB to beat Aussies for the last final spot, then beating Czechs in the final.... -
Who Should Be In Gb World Cup Team?
kelvinht replied to bri1966's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
and I also don't understand how Richie Lawson wasn't at least in the squad. He's having a pretty decent run at the moment Middloo seems too intent on looking and who has been good rather than having an real eye for the future. Cookie was a start but nowhere near enough.... -

So Middlo plays it safe yet again . We ain't gonna win this year or the next cos Team GB just don't have enough top class riders, but if we don't give the young ones a go now it will be even longer before we look like winning. Shouldn't have been Tai and 3 yougsters. But no, we get Harris (another poor season and wasn't that convicing at the N/A last week) and Steady Eddie (who'll score a few points, but has never really shown the ability to turn into a top class international). At least Craig Cook is in but Middlo should have chosen a couple of other younger riders. Don't think Richie Worrall would have been out classed on his home track and should have been given a go... -
Making Up The Numbers .its Getting A Joke Now!
kelvinht replied to speedwaysliders's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
The problem with guests is not the guest system itself, it's why its being used. The main problem they are used for these days, other than unavoidable injuries, is to cover when riders are 'validly' riding elsewhere - either in the Premier League or abroad. So the only way this is ever gonna stop being such an issue is one designated night for Elite League speedway not used by other countries. If it was one night, double uppers would only be able to come from those PL teams or don't race their home fixtures on the same night, to avoid most clashes for them. Guests are not such a probem in the PL as the riders aren't typically riding elsewhere so much. -
Sky Sports now do a daily pass on Now TV - £9.99, so not very good value if you just want to watch a speedway meeting. When I first saw this advertised I'd hoped it would be more a pay per view for a program (and somewhat cheaper) I'll be sticking with my £2.99 a month for Eurosport as I've no intention of getting Sky just to watch a few speedway meetings. Will be even better vaue if Elite League moved to Eurosport next season...
-
linguistics abilities do differ....Sky last week and Rosco continually refering to the scottish ones as Monaaaarrrrcks....
-
Totally agree....I laughed out loud a few times. Think the wife wondered what I was watching on my laptop..
-
I purchased it and watch on my PC - works just fine. I'd watch it on me smart telly, but wifey won't let me - she prefers Ant & Dec and The Voice
-
in a similar vein, while at NA the other week for the Poole match my mate noticed the race times on speedway updates didn't match those given out at the stadium, not one single heat. Suspect this wasn't the updaters, but the updater taking the times off Sky who show their own version of race times

It is the racing that matters, but it helps to enhance the experience if the commentators are your cup of tea. They personally work for me, and I have to say Saturday was just brilliant all round. To a degree it has to be 'jobs for the boys' as its much more interesting listening to guys who know what they are talking about, not joe bloggs off the street. I share Kelvin's name too, but only in the christian name so I'm not related either
