  1. Rory could do a good job promoting the club and helping with the presentation as well....
  2. Thanks for trying to make us depressed Stars fans feel better....it's not working
  3. Noticed this in the last GP as well, after race riders couldn't wait to get to back to the pits, hardly a single lap of honour. Pretty p1ss poor. Its a very simple, basic thing that helps riders connect with the fans and make the fans feel wanted. Every winning rider should do it, and even those not finishing first if they've been involved in a good race.
  4. Reserves made the difference again Stars 6 - Lions 14. Although Wilco deserved more for his efforts. Rob dropped a bit of one in heat 6 - until that point Thorsell was only star looking like scoring other than NKI so should have given him a tactical while we had a chance, although guess he thought Bomber would win and that race then give it to NKI. Those extra 3 points would have made a difference.... Generally though Stars achilles heal of not being able to gate made the difference through most of the meeting as it was gate and go and hang on... Thought Leicester would run us close but not bl00dy win :-( We've still got a mathematical chance of play offs, but hopes are fading fast, but with this lot we'll get no further than the semi's anyway
  5. maybe we can just run races 10 to 15 as we've already done the first 9......
  6. forecast is talking about light showers, locally heavy with possible thunder...as long as local don't mean AFA i'll be happy!
  7. edit : may be able to make it now.... hope weather plays ball. Gotta make most of it as not many more meetings left..
  8. Bit of a late call.....guess there'll be about 10 spectators in the stadium...I sure as hell can't make it at such short notice :-( Hope BV lose at Wolverhampton tonight and Stars win on Tues then we don't need to worry about Swindon...
  9. How does that work then? have I missed another dodgy rule somewhere?
  10. where are the track covers when you need them - supposed to be a pleasant afternoon/evening. Nothing to do with NKI being unavailable, obviously (he says cynically) :-)
  11. True, but if they'd raced earlier with no rain off's the season would be finished, bar the play-offs by the start of August, then everyone would moan the fixtures finished too early. Rock and a hard place. Think the real issue is the timing of play offs - takes out 4 weeks of the season and to complete when weather is hopefully reasonable it has to start mid-September. home and away legs should run same week - i.e. Monday and Wednesday, so play-offs compress to 2 weeks....
  12. I wasn't there but apparently track was ok-ish at 7pm. It was the 7.15pm downpour that killed it, and that wasn't forecast....can't blame Buster for that. If only we'd ridden heat 10 a few weeks ago...
  13. Its certainly looking iffy for Wednesday, although that's better than tomorrow's forecast. We could lose both matches this week to mother nature then that'll make it interesting fitting them all in. Hope BV lose at Wolves on 31st then we just need to get one match in before cut off's (and win) so Leicester would be the one...
  14. If Garrity is fit and Milik only half fit, plus r/r for Robert could see a shock defeat for the stars. Hope I'm very wrong and we breeze through. Mind you with tomorrows weather forecast think this is only likely to go one way....
  15. So, back to the main thread... This is the Stars most important meeting of the season. Win and we are in the play offs. Lose and BV will probably sneak it as I assume they'll win all their remaining fixtures. So no NKI against Swindon and I reckon it'll be curtains for us. Can't see anyone guesting and pulling the same number of points unless perhaps its Magic or Noddy on a good night...we would need Darcy and Batch to eat some of that dodgy food or whatever it was earlier in the season that caused Holder to miss the Poole meeting....
  16. Lakeside must have finished their fixtures soon....can we re-declare and draft in Adam Ellis, AJ and maybe one or two others :-) Call us King's Side or Lake Lynn...
  17. just looked at BBC weather - light rain in Lynn from 8pm, heavier from 9pm. Bl00dy British summer could spoil potentially cracking meeting. Hope Sky doesn't slow it down too much
  18. Liking Fast Freddie in for Milik....can we do a swap with Wolves...they are welcome to Milik... Hopefully we can win this and our other home meeting against Leicester at least....
  19. Milik was a good signing but has gone sour. Doesn't seem to want to ride for us. Need a replacement fast... Lambert doesn't appear to want to ride either .....getting rather sceptical with some of his injury excuses....
  20. Reckon 2 home wins out of 3 will see the Stars limp over the line to the play offs. Problem is, who ever tops the league will pick the Stars. With Aaron Summers joining Swindon, they are the nailed on 4th team. Stars won't make it past the semi's unless we get the right guests (liking Fast Freddie on Wednesday though!)
  21. Elite League need to run on one maybe two nights a week avoiding foreign leagues as much a possible. PL then need to avoid those nights. Double uppers/downers are probably a necessity (costs, help riders develop) but should be limited to riders only riding in this country and if the leagues night do not clash then guests for that reason should disappear. You can't account for injuries but hopefully above would help keep number of fixture clashes and guests to more acceptable levels. I also think the race format in EL is good so should be adopted in PL. PL also need to limit no's 6&7 to british youngsters like the EL. EL 6&7 should just be a higher standard
  22. Doesn't sound good from speedway updates....fingers crossed it not as bad as it sounds
  23. isn't he a lamb ? ...and he'll be woolly and wet if he's in norwich.....
  24. Its pretty p1ss poor. If it was a new stadium built on their door step I could understand it. If anything the only people who should have been taken to court would have been the residents solicitor who was involved in their house purchase for not pointing out the stadium to them. Why, in certain area's, are speedway stadia always the poor relation and treated as if we were the worlds worst sport supported by the scum of the earth and other places they co-exist quite happily?
