  1. I must have an odd sense of humour. It was funny to me. :)
  2. Good one Dandelion. It made me laugh anyway.
  3. No - I deliberately missed him off as you had already done a piece on him in an earlier Post.
  4. Very interesting. Have you anything else on former Sunderland 'Saints' Riders? I know their Speedway Records but haven't any in depth knowledge like this. Jim Airey, Grdon Guasco, Graham Coombes, Ray Day, Ken Sharples, Maury McDermott, Colin McKee and Paul Sharples. Great Post.
  5. I'm here. And he should go. It would be better for his career to have a change and, in my opinion better for Newcastle too. Wells would be a pretty good option for me.
  6. Very true - and the new Stadium looks like a vast improvement on Kirky Lane.
  7. Nice one RD. As long as they bring home the bacon eh?
  8. Might I gently remind you the Elite League is no more thank goodness. Actually - the Premier League doesn't exist any longer either. It would be very difficult for me to think of a bigger misnomer than 'Elite' all things considered.
  9. As was Dave Baugh. I remember him winning the Northern Star Championship twice at Sunderland - and yes - he wore glasses.
  10. Difficult to argue with that. I will give you the fact that money is the only justification for it. From a pure sporting point of view it is wrong. Still doesn't make it right that the Team that wins the League over a whole Season then has to then go out and win it again right at the end of the Season when some of their foreign Riders have gone home. What about those Teams not involved though?
  11. I had the privilege of meeting and chatting to Reg at a Halifax Reunion some years ago. A wonderful man and great conversationalist. It was great to hear about the old days.
  12. Very good and very quick. You did well there.
  13. Jim Airey - That brings back happy memories of the still much missed Sunderland 'Saints'. My favourite Rider at the time. I was new to it all then. Happy days.
  14. How do you know it wouldn't? Are you prepared to take that chance with the future, or lack of future for your Club? It could well be argued that the Season is a waste of time - it is only a qualifying system for the 'Play Offs' which are the only Meetings that really seem to matter. Doesn't matter if you win the League - you still have to go out and win it again. But that is another argument.
  15. And if it costs you your Club in the long term..........................?
  16. So I read in to that that Newcastle will not be looking for Promotion next year. Quite right too. Promotion/Relegation in Speedway is a daft idea to me.
  17. I can certainly see that happening. Serious question. Would anyone want Newcastle to be Promoted? Personally I would prefer them to stay in the Championship rather than taking a chance on Promotion and everything going belly up. Only my opinion.
  18. Great bit of History there for me. I remember Dave Collins from his days at Sunderland. Thanks for that gustix.
  19. Well it is certainly more honest. No complaints from me. 'ELITE'
