  1. Why does Speedway get no mention in the above publicity material gustix. I cannot believe that Stock Cars were more popular than Speedway. Briggo, Vic Duggan, Oliver Hart, Ronnie Moore, Tommy Jansson, Geoff Pymar, Norman Parker, Eddie Jancarz just to mention only a few. I would have thought that Speedway would have had loads more support with all the above luminaries - am I wrong?
  2. gustix - I always thought that Speedway was a huge part of Wimbledon's History. It doesn't get a mention in the latest Posters, or on the brief write up. Plenty about the so called Stox but nothing regarding Speedway. A question - were Stox (or whatever they are called) more popular at Wimbledon than Wimbledon 'Dons'? With the likes of Briggo, Ronnie Moore, Tommy Jansson, Cyril Maidment, Wilbur Lamoreoux, Norman Parker et al. I can't believe that 'Stox' was better supported than Speedway.
  3. Sadly - as far as I can see - Speedway doesn't even rate a mention in this latest Poster.
  4. Whichever way you look at it - Belle Vue are going to have a decent Team this year. That in itself is quite remarkable given the problems they have gone through this close Season. Personally I am just very glad that we are definitely up and running in the coming Season - I sincerely hope that the 'Aces' will do well. Seeing that we may be beneftting from the Coventry situation - I would just like to say how sorry I am for the Club and their Supporters.
  5. No. But I watched Redcar every week for a number of years and the Track was never better, indeed never as good as it was when Glyn Taylor was the Curator. I hope that answers your question.
  6. ................................... and if his ideas were not being listened to or even more rubbished (I'm not saying they were) but that might make most people with spirit walk away.
  7. Mmmmmm - I would have preferred Glyn Taylor. I will reserve judgement.
  8. I simply cannot agree with this. Tai cannot be considered as part of the reason for Speedway's "downward spiral" in this Country. Indeed he could conceivably be part of the reason that Speedway retains the limited support it already has. Tai, for me is a brilliant Rider who likes to be Number One in all things and, on a Speedway Track he has the ability to back it up. His tattoos, piercings are not my thing - but that does not add or detract from anything he does on the Track so I'm not really bothered about that. What I am bothered about is the state of British Speedway these days. It seems to me that, like it or not, Woffinden is the only British Rider to dedicate himself totally to his professionalism. He wants to be top dog and more importantly, he wants his Country to be the same. He, believes he can to paraphrase Donald Trump make Great Britain Speedway Team Great again. He may be right, of course he could be wrong. Personally I think he has a chance of doing it provided he gets the support of the Riders, Management, BSPA, Promoters and Supporters.
  9. I'm with you two on this. My opinion is the same as regards years ago. I have so many happy memories - and I only go back as far as 1964.
  10. You are entitled to your view - I am entitled to mine. I do not agree with you. We will leave it there.
  11. But we finished SECOND!!! Who was it who scored the majority, by a long way, of our Points. Tai Woffinden, thats who. Without him and his ideas - see where we get this year. I will predict - NOWHERE!!! Obviously - you don't like Tai. You are one of those who is happy to see Great Britain slide down the pecking order in World Speedway. Some of Tai's ideas make sense to me - and if he can put us back on the map in a Speedway sense - then good luck to him. He deserves a chance to try. As for, as you put it, "acts like baby and takes his ball back" - has it ever occurred to you that he may have had no choice in his actions if they wouldn't listen to him if that was the case. But read my Post - he could just be right - you certainly can't say he is wrong.
  12. Only because he can't get anywhere with his ideas. Have you ever thought - Tai might just be right. If you want Speedway to stay the way it is then fine - we won't get anywhere. If you want it to improve then perhaps Tai should be listened to - he is most certainly not an idiot. It is not beyond the bounds of possibility that he could improve Great Britain's Speedway Team massively. It might not work - but unless we try something different we will be doomed to stay in the Speedway doldrums for a very long time. Tai could indeed be the answer. As I have said, it may not work but what have we got to lose if we give him his head on this?
  13. ................... and once they have gone it is bloody difficult to get them back.
  14. Good question Gary....................................................
  15. Following that logic it looks like the next time will be in Ystrad Mynach. :D
  16. I think Tai has a point. As a Nation, we haven't done really well at International level for years. Once we were the best in the World bar none. Now we are also rans. Those currently running British Speedway have hardly set the World alight have they? People are always Posting that British Speedway needs a sort of Supremo - perhaps putting Tai or someone else in overall charge of Speedway might work. The current system certainly isn't working now.
