What Went Wrong?
The White Knight replied to cowboy cookie returns?'s topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Does anyone know the actual Gate at the 1972 World Final please. Just out of intertest. -
Firstly I would like to thank the Redcar Supporters for a great welcome. It was super to see so many old faces from years ago. I was very impressed with the set up at Redcar, lots of improvements have been made to the whole place. The atmosphere last night was brilliant, people seemed much happier and expectations for the Team were at a high. Justifiably so in my opinion. I think Kevin has built a good strong side who could/should make the dreaded 'Play offs'. Double Points was used in the Meeting, and because it was just a Challenge Match I kept my mouth firmly shut - just muttering to myself. Suffice to say that I now have great optimism for Redcar Speedway - I think they have a safe pair of hands in Kevin Keay. He is very approachable and seems a genuinely nice bloke. Finally - I would like to wish Redcar Speedway, the Management Team, the Riders and their Supporters the very best of luck for the future. Once again - many thanks for everything - including the memories.

Sadly these things happen all too often.

Looks very good on my PC. :approve: Well done. -
I sincerely hope that Swindon Speedway and their Supporters get their new Stadium. After all of the promises given, it would be almost criminal if they didn't.

That certainly will not help this situation Speedway finds itself in. Cost should be kept to an absolute minimum or your Supporter base will drop. We are already seeing this happen. I don't know what the solution is, if indeed there is one. I do think that things like a Campaign on Social Media might help. I am not a very Technical person and wouldn't know where to start something like that - but surely Social Media should be used to push our Sport more than it is at present. Surely someone at the BSPA has the nouse to start something going. Waiting to be shot down in flames. -
Well he certainly seems to have turned things around.....................

No my friend I didn't. I have always been very well treated at Newcastle even though I am a Mackem. I thoroughly enjoyed my times at both Newcastle and Redcar. I made many friends at both Tracks. I would still have loved a Team at Sunderland though......................................................

I am sad to hear of Joonas's retirement. I loved watching him on the Television. I thought that he was an extremely talented and exciting Rider to watch. I wish him well for his retirement.

The 4 Hours Speedway Meeting....
The White Knight replied to SCB's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Aye - those were the days. We were often 'upstairs' at the Stadium having a drink, a laugh and a chat with sometimes all seven Team Members. A great time was had by all. Nowadays it end of Heat 15 usually - then off home. Such a shame - but - such is progress. -
I did the Review for Newcastle a few years ago.

The 4 Hours Speedway Meeting....

Sadly no-one will listen. The Second Half System brought us loads of British Speedway 'Stars' back in the Seventies. We, Great Britain, won everything in sight. They changed the System - and look where we are now.
