Excellent Post Humphrey. :approve:

It certainly would have been a rip roaring ride Sidney. He did a great job at Ipswich and I am sure he would have done a great job for British Speedway. Sadly it wasn't to be and I, for one, believe that we are suffering today because of lack of foresight all those years ago. I have read John Berry's excellent 'Confessions' Books and I admire his honesty, which may, in the end have supported Humphrey's view about him falling out with people. It should be said that he may not have done though. I still often wonder how British Speedway would have fared had he (John Berry) taken the job on. *I can highly recommend John Berry's Books to anybody interested in the History of British Speedway. Not sure if they are still available - but I got mine directly from 'BackTrack' if I remember correctly.

I have to agree with you on that Sidney.

Real Progress Or Slipping Standards?

I must admit - it surprised me too. Good on George English and the rest of the Management Team for securing this plum Event for Newcastle. -
Could be SCB, could be. The people I am very sorry for though are the Supporters. Will there Club appear next Season as we all hope - or - is this the end? Best wishes for Coventry Speedway.

I didn't know that Mrs. Merkel was in to Motorbikes. I must have missed that one. :D

Merci beaucoup mon ami. :approve: -
Great idea - but only one problem. I doubt they would let you in with a Megaphone - or if they did they would eject you as soon as you tried to use it. So you wouldn't get to see Heat 15 anyway. You just can't win.

In my case it is incontinence. :D

What about the paying Public?

I'm sorry iris - but that was me. Apologies if I offended anyone - that was not my intention. I was just interested in the History - not current day stuff. I'm afraid you cannot blame gustix.
-
I wouldn't pick on you - I wouldn't dare.
-
Haha - I knew you would come back to me on that. I actually enjoy reading a lot of your Posts - but - every now and again you do Post to get a reaction. Go on - admit it.

The Poster clearly states 'replica' iris. It is an example of the early days of Board Track Racing. I think it appropriate to Post something like that on this Thread - the bike is obviously a replica but is a good example of the Bikes used in those days. What I am against is those Posting modern day BIKES and discussing modern day Board Tracking on these type of Threads. It spoils it for the history buffs like me. I learn a lot from these type of Threads. This is a Historical Thread and as such, in my opinion, the Poster (gustix) has Posted it in the right place. Don't worry - I would have complained if I though his Post inappropriate. I hope you can see my point.

I would be if.....................................

Sigh. I'm not going through all that again. :nono:

Far too long. TWELVE minutes. As I asked earlier - how long does it take to choose two Riders from Seven? Most of the time your 'Number One' goes out in Heat 15 followed by one from six. Can't be that hard for goodness sake. I still contend that twelve minutes is too long to be standing freezing your bollox off in March, April or October. Whatever happened to consideration for your Public/Customers?

Thanks for that ff.

In the light of current happenings - this is so sad, very poignant.

I thought the selling point was that the engines were all the same. I am definitely not technical but that is what I was led to believe.
