  1. I agree - they have to deal with people like............................................ME!!
  2. I know Barry and Doug are different people I am good friends with both of them. I don't know Eric Thornton though. :)
  3. Perhaps British Speedway should start saving some money for the 100th Anniversary. (Always assuming that Speedway in Britain still exists in ten years time). The 90th, though a long time, isn't really a milestone Event.
  4. Friends = Jack Millen and Jim Wells. Both Sunderland 'Stars'. Enemies = Jack Millen and Frank Auffret. Auffret Teeside 'Tigers'.
  5. Stan Bradbury? EDIT: http://www.speedwayplus.com/StanBradbury_m.shtml
  6. It happens occasionally in Association Football Matches too. Usually for safety reasons.
  7. Utter Poo!!! Speedway needs to be made attractive to EVERYONE. ABC1s should be attracted, yes - but crucially so should EVERYONE else. Another thing - where is the money going to come from to 'do up' these Stadia? Speedway is a small Sport with limited income - plus, of course there are Tracks who do not own their own Stadium and have very little influence on infrastructure. They are probably allowed the Track, Pits, a few selling points (food, souvenirs etc.) and that's it. I don't profess to know the answer - but one thing I do know is that Speedway needs to attract everybody from all socio-economic Groups.
  8. What about those Tracks using Greyhound Stadia where the Stadium may not be available on Fridays and Saturdays? Just close them down I suppose.
  9. A very good and perceptive Post Moxey63. I can agree with, and associate myself with, every single word. Most particularly the Team ethic that you emphasise.
  10. Does anyone know the actual Gate at the 1972 World Final please. Just out of intertest.
  11. Firstly I would like to thank the Redcar Supporters for a great welcome. It was super to see so many old faces from years ago. I was very impressed with the set up at Redcar, lots of improvements have been made to the whole place. The atmosphere last night was brilliant, people seemed much happier and expectations for the Team were at a high. Justifiably so in my opinion. I think Kevin has built a good strong side who could/should make the dreaded 'Play offs'. Double Points was used in the Meeting, and because it was just a Challenge Match I kept my mouth firmly shut - just muttering to myself. Suffice to say that I now have great optimism for Redcar Speedway - I think they have a safe pair of hands in Kevin Keay. He is very approachable and seems a genuinely nice bloke. Finally - I would like to wish Redcar Speedway, the Management Team, the Riders and their Supporters the very best of luck for the future. Once again - many thanks for everything - including the memories.
  12. I take it they haven't invented the Telephone in Scunny yet? :D
  13. Looks very good on my PC. :approve: Well done.
  14. I sincerely hope that Swindon Speedway and their Supporters get their new Stadium. After all of the promises given, it would be almost criminal if they didn't.
  15. Sounds like things are going well at Berwick. I sincerely hope it continues. Great Track and great Supporters.
  16. Apart from no Championship Meetings. Very well balanced - NOT!!!
  17. That wouldn't be the graves would it?
  18. That certainly will not help this situation Speedway finds itself in. Cost should be kept to an absolute minimum or your Supporter base will drop. We are already seeing this happen. I don't know what the solution is, if indeed there is one. I do think that things like a Campaign on Social Media might help. I am not a very Technical person and wouldn't know where to start something like that - but surely Social Media should be used to push our Sport more than it is at present. Surely someone at the BSPA has the nouse to start something going. Waiting to be shot down in flames.
