Why are there TWO Threads running on this subject? Could I suggest that the Threads be merged by the Mods please?

Rising Crowds This Season?
The White Knight replied to RPNY's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Probably because Poole don't look like winning the League at the moment. I am sure the Gates will improve when you have a winning Team to support. Holder at reserve would be good. Some of us would just like a Team to support - never mind a winning one as I know from my time at Sunderland in the Sixties and Seventies. -
Very well said Martin - particularly about William Wilberforce. Surely that deserves to be celebrated and not shoved in a corner as if it never happened. It's a bit like us here in Sunderland bidding to be City of Culture in 2021. They (the Council) have just closed some more of our Public Libraries down and moved our main Library in to a couple of rooms in the Sunderland Museum (Foundation Stone laid by U.S. President/General Ulysses S. Grant). Libraries are not just Cultural - they are Educational too. Sunderland - City of Culture - my a*se.

I always admired Edward Jancarz. Of all of the Polish Riders who came over to this Country from Poland - the first name I think of is Eddie Jancarz. A great Rider. It really is sad that his life ended the way that it did. I am sure he could have had a great influence on Polish Speedway.

I think you underestimate some of us SCB.
-
Or perhaps he genuinely believes that he can help British Riders. I certainly believe he can. Typical of Great Britain this - we moan like hell about not having any decent British Riders. We get one and he is treated like a pariah. Honestly - it beggars belief.
-
Nowt really. But Hull - like Sunderland live in hope.
-
Doesn't really matter what anyone thinks - the incontravertible FACT is that he is British whether he rides in or for Great Britain or not.

Rising Crowds This Season?

I can think of two possibilities. Tax reasons as has been mentioned before. or PR reasons - who is going to come out on a cold night to support a Sport that can only attract a few hundred people and a dog. Far better to leave folk in their ignorance and hope that they come along anyway. I am sure that if you published very low numbers - it would probably put people off. -
I think that is rubbish. Tai could pass on a lot of experience and information.

Not likely to happen though. -

I hope not.  -
The first Rider I can remember being killed in a Track accident was Peter Craven in 1963. That was before I had even been to Speedway. My first Meeting being in 1964.
-
That doesn't really answer the question.

To all those Woffinden detractors out there, and there are a few, would you say that Tai has been well treated by British Speedway or badly treated?

Whos (un)impressed You In 2017?

I'll keep my eye out for him hyderd. Great that he's at Belle Vue. :approve: -
I would be interested in a literal translation of what I assume to be Saxon norbold. I wish I knew how to do that with my keyboard. Most impressive.

Perhaps nobody knows.

It certainly would. Did they give any reason why Greyhound Racing should be banned? -
Sadly - with the amount of time that has elapsed - you may well be right MattK. Obviously I very much hope that you are wrong.
