  1. Thank you for that Steve. I have read through this Thread and realised I had forgotten the late Jimmy Tannock.
  2. Yes - and he still lives in the Shropshire area. He is a lovely man who travels to Sunderland every year to attend our Reunions.
  3. Not all Fans are like that - I would just like my Team to support. You know - the way I did forty or fifty years ago. Riders to relate to, to talk to, to become friendly with, to have a Pint after a Meeting together, socialise. Most of them haven't time for us nowadays. We are only the punters, the paying customers if you will, just like any other business. Hell's Bells - they can't even give us an enthusiastic wave when introduced to the Crowd - at least they didn't when I last went.
  4. I don't think that the word credibility enters in to the minds of the 'Powers that be'. It can't - if it did - Speedway would be a vastly different and probably a far more popular Sport.
  5. I'm afraid the only one I have heard of is Hughie Saunders who rode for Hackney 'Hawks' - - I think.
  6. I look forward to his improved scores then.
  7. I hope you didn't set them on fire ls. :D
  8. The late Vic Harding - former Sunderland 'Gladiators/Stars' and Hackney 'Hawks' Rider. Tragically killed in a Track accident at Hackney. May he Rest in Peace. +
  9. No, actually it isn't. Though I admit that I didn't like that either. I didn't like the way that he ended his Career. I was disgusted with him then and am disgusted with him now.
  10. Wasn't Gordon a Belle Vue Rider? I never actually saw him race, but I have read about him.
  11. I think Crewe was the biggest ever Track in this Country Sidney. It states 475 yards on here - see 'Link': https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crewe_Stadium But I was always under the impression it was 440 yards. Still very big.
  12. Well let's all hope that Speedway is taking them (BT) seriously too. This has all of the hallmarks of 'Last Chance Saloon'.
  13. I thought long and hard about that. I allowed my prejudice against him to rule my head. I still do. So, the answer to your question is No!! No Penhall.
  14. Once again I agree steve. Mainly because I can't think of anyone else. At a Crewe 'Kings' Reunion we shared a taxi with Taffy Owen and Peter Kelly. What a couple of characters they were. Wonderful fellows and wonderful memories.
  15. This would be my best quintet too. Very difficult to argue with it to be honest.
  16. Not your fault at all steve. I should have been more careful in reading the Thread Titles. Never mind though there is always someone who will put me right isn't there whka1?
  17. Not Dom Perignon? I wonder what his champagne moment was? Only kidding gustix. One of a number of good Threads at the moment.
  18. I am so sorry. Aren't we being just a little pedantic here. I put the exact same List on both Threads because I thought they were in essence, the same. I've just reread the Thread Titles - I have obviously misread the Title of one of them. I will try not to do it again. BUT - I'm sure if I do that you will be the first to point it out to me.
  19. I haven't seen him at all norbold. I read about him a long time ago. I'm talking many years, and that is what I mean't. My memory of what I read must be wrong.
  20. Oh - Fisher as well - I think.
  21. 1. Igor Plechanov 2. Emil Sayfutdinov 3. Gennady Kurilenko 4. Boris Samorodov 5. Grigory Khlinovsky
