George is indeed a true Gentleman in the real sense of the word. I have been privileged, over the years, to have been friends with George. When he came to Sunderland in 1971 he immediately became involved with Supporters of Sunderland 'Stars'. He is a friendly person who also always seems to have time for everyone. George and Linda were almost totally responsible for the raising of the money required to get the National Speedway Museum up and running. I believe he and Linda visited every Track in the Country to raise the Cash. He has travelled many times to Sunderland to attend our Reunions over the years. It is always a genuine pleasure to see him. Thank you for this Thread gustix.

He would be mine too. Oooops!!! We have both just upset Dandelion.
-
Well at least he would know what he is talking about - he would probably be entertaining too.
-
If this is being allowed by the Police etc. than this must be the end for Brandon. So very, very sad.

Peter Collins, Michael Lee?
-
Are you talking about me SCB? Because if you are right. I hope 'BackTrack' and 'Classic Speedway' never go Digital.

What Went Wrong?
The White Knight replied to cowboy cookie returns?'s topic in Speedway News and Discussions
In my opinion - we are just not good enough. End of!!! -
No probs.

Charlie Webster is her name.
-
I wish he would concentrate on riding Speedway - he could be a really good Rider.
-
Yes you did. Sadly it was a Historical Thread - not a modern day one.
-
Yep, scarletrider and myself spent hours and hours pouring over photographs identifying Riders. One, Jim Wells, we identified by the Sticker on his fuel tank in one photograph. The Leathers came in to it too - wouldn't envy anyone trying to do that these days. I think I have said before, but I will say it again, I am happy with my memories of Speedway and quite content to read 'Classic Speedway' and 'BackTrack' and Books reminiscing on the good old days of Speedway.

No variation in handlebars, Team Kevlars, Riding Style all very similar these days. I can remember the days when each Rider could be recognised, by and large, by his style of riding. Used to be great when you could be at Home (Sunderland) against Birmingham. Look - there's George Major, just look at those Handlebars, there's 'Big' Arthur Browning with his bustling style. When 'The White Knight' (Graeme Smith) wore his distinctive white leathers. We even had 'Villains' in those days to entertain the crowd. Jack Millen, Tony Childs, Taffy Owen and Frank Auffret just to name a few. Happy days..

Yes - very true NB. Money talks and nothing else matters, that seems to be the way of things these days.
-
 But at least they have a Premier League Football Team - Ooops!!
-
Gemini - you can include me in that too. I will probably be dead and gone by then. (Which will probably please Humphrey Appleby anyway - so every cloud does have a silver lining for some folk). I sincerely hope we are both still here though.
-
I must say that I have always liked Ben Barker. Always tries and gives 100% - that goes a long way with me.
-
Ronnie Moore? Cheshire? OK - tell me what I am missing here. I'll be the fall guy. Surely he was from Tasmania? I somehow know that you venerable Speedway luminaries will have an answer - but I'm damned if I can see what it is.
-
I'm just grateful that we have Speedway on Telly. To be honest I don't care who the commentators are. I think the ones we already have do a very decent job - but that is only my opinion - I know lots of people wouldn't agree with me.
-
Aaaaawwwww - don't be like that Gemini.
-
R.I.P. + Geoff.
-
Nice one Gemini.

I'm very sorry to hear this about Ben. He seemed to be doing pretty well to me. I really thought we had at least one of our Reserve berths sorted. I hope that Ben isn't out for very long. Preferably not out at all.
-
Crumbs!! I didn't know about that. Not as daft as he seems at first glance.

That is some really good news for Speedway for a change. Long may it continue. Hopefully it will encourage BT to continue with Speedway next year, and into the future.
