  1. ........................................are you sure about that?
  2. That's about as credible. Speedway and Integrity don't make comfortable befellows.
  3. Well - I have been rabbiting on about this for years. Joker - WHAT A JOKE!!! Whatever happened to Sportsmanship and Fair Play. No the wonder Speedway is dying. Nicki Pedersen should hang his head in shame.
  4. Well - I am certainly not a great Supporter of Matt Ford. I do not agree with a number of the things that he has done. However - it must be remembered that Mr. Ford is first and foremost a Speedway Promotor, he is there to Promote Speedway. He has seen a chance to put on a big Meeting, a Test Match between England and Australia and has grabbed the opportunity with both hands. He is a Businessman and he knows that putting on a Meeting like this will pull in Supporters from all over the Country. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter who rides for each Team - it is ENGLAND v AUSTRALIA - that is always a battle. Mr. Ford is doing what a lot of other Promotors should be doing - Promoting his Track/Business. More strength to his elbow. What we need is more Promotors to follow his example in this particular instance. What we should not be doing is criticising Mr. Ford for doing his job, and in this case, doing it well.
  5. I don't like the Racist undertones on this Thread. Scots w'ha hae!!!
  6. I only put the idea forward for Discussion. I still think there is room for a World Pairs Competition and a World Four Team Tournament. I used to enjoy the 'Pairs' particularly when 'Simmo', Collins et al were riding. Perhaps TeamGB would not be able to put out a great Team at the moment but it would still be good to watch.
  7. Crikey sidney - I'll have to start hunting round to see if I have any - at those prices.
  8. It would not the way I envision it. A Four Team Tournament with TWO Riders from each Team competing in the Races. Say it was a Meeting between the following: TeamGB, Russia, Denmark, Poland. First Race would be two Riders from each Team. TeamGB v Russia, Heat 2) Denmark v Poland and so on. It could be done and it would certainly encourage Team Riding. That is my thinking Superstar1.
  9. My son thinks, and I must say I agree with him, that the Speedway World Cup every year is too much. The World Cup should be special - therefore I would propose that it came round every THREE years. That would be Year One. Year Two could be a Speedway 'World Pairs' Championship - again to be run every THREE years. Finally - Year Three I would suggest a 'World Four Team Tournament'. Year Four back to the 'Speedway World Cup'. This is just a suggestion to try to keep World Events special and memorable. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
  10. Well said snyper - I 100% agree with you. Very well put. :approve:
  11. Actually SCB you are right. The Racing was so good that the Result could have stood on it's own - without this 'Joker' nonsense. I don't think it made any difference to the final Result in this case but it spoiled a cracking Meeting for me.
  12. I've been banging on about this for years - in the World Cup - for Speedway read 'It's a Knockout'. All we need is Stuart Hall. Makes our Sport look cheap and nasty. Everything in Speedway these days is geared towards contrived Results. Tactical Doubles, Play Offs, the Grand Prix System where the top eight Riders are GUARANTEED a place the following year and the 'Joker' in the World Cup. For heavens sake - Poland won the World Cup having played their Joker, Australia lost because they never got six Points behind. Where is the fairness or credibility in that.
  13. Lost interest when he got his hair cut. :D
  14. So has Mal McKay and 'Taffy' Owen.
  15. Not sure - but - I think he has retired.
  16. Apart from that it's OK then. :)
  17. Very interesting footage. First time I have seen one of those Racing Cars apart from in Books. Great to see one in action. :approve: Thank you very much for Posting this. Sadly - I have no idea which Track is involved.
  18. I noticed that myself. I didn't fancy another argument so I didn't comment. A SCOTTISH GP at Hampden PLEASE!!
  19. While 'youse' is on about it - what about Joe Hughes.
  20. Dougie and Willie Templeton, Jimmy Tannock.
  21. Airey was better than Crump senior. :approve:
