  1. Would that not create a monopoly which could, in the long term, make things even more expensive for Riders/Clubs? The other Suppliers would go to the wall, leaving the chosen Supplier in the position of charging what they like, because they would have no competition to force them to keep prices realistic.
  2. NOT ME!!!................................... Honest.
  3. My feelings exactly Dave. I have Posted consistantly on this. Sadly the Recession does not take in to account that Speedway people need to make some money too. With only 20% of the Cuts being effective at present - this implies that 80% are still to come. This means that there will be more than some Speedway Tracks going to the wall. We (and I include Speedway) are in for some VERY tough times ahead - we should not kid ourselves that we will be exempt from suffering problems - WE WON'T!!
  4. You really know how to couch a Post montie. Your English Teacher must be very proud.
  5. I'm sorry Abbot - maybe I'm wrong - but I understood that Rene Bach was riding for Workington next year. Apologies if I'm wrong.
  6. I've tried to stay off this Thread but: Congratulations to the 'Scorpions' on winning the ''Play Off' Final - a fine performance. I cannot say "on the League Championship" because, in my mind you are not that - Newcastle finished top of the League over the Season thus are 'Champions'. I know the records will show different - that doesn't matter to me. The 'Play Offs' cannot be justified other than being a money making SCAM that has spoiled Speedway as Family Sport. How do you explain to a youngster that their Team finished top of the League, but are not Champions. It makes Speedway look silly and doesn't make sense. To those who say that everyone knew the Rules at the start of the Season - they are correct. There are, though, Good Rules and there are Bad Rules. However the fact that the 'Play Off' Champions are being, somewhat laughingly, called League Champions is one of the VERY bad Rules - it ruins Speedway's credibility. For what reason? A few more Meetings tagged on to an already too long a Season. I would very much like to go back to a PROPER League Championship in all Leagues - and to ditch the unfairness of it all permanently.. Believe me - there are a lot of folk who think the same as myself - I canvassed people at the last Meeting I attended.
  7. Absolutely superb Posts Humphrey. I particularly liked the reference to GP Circus and, interestingly, your remarks regarding the BCCI in India regarding T20 etc. I did not know that BSI/IMG was involved in that too. Thank you for the information.
  8. No problems with that Team - I WOULD like to keep Paul Starke though. I would like to watch him develope - he has improved no end since he first rode for us and I would like to see that continue. :approve:
  9. I'm not taking it personally Philip, apart from your comment regarding Traditionalists. All I am saying is that without the Traditionalists Speedway would be dead by now. You stated that we are a dying breed - you are right - I agree, we are. I still believe that we have a right to have an opinion on our Sport - to me the greatest Sport in the World. I love Speedway, it grieves me the way it is going. Perhaps I articulate my feelings passionately - but - that is how I feel about Speedway. I would like to think that the folk who follow on in the Sport can enjoy the same sort of experiences I have enjoyed. The way things are going - they wont. I still believe tha overall SKY and BSI/IMG involvement has been bad for Speedway. Sorry.
  10. Absolutely nothing. (Things do go off Topic from time to time). However - people seem keen to discuss this subject - and, actually the discussion has a LOT more relevence to Speedway than the damned 'JOKER'!!!
  11. I'm not very keen on that comment. So they don't even have to be considered - b****y GREAT!! Remember it is those 'Traditionalists' who have supported Speedway for forty, fifty or sixty years that have kept the Sport going. One of the reasons THEY are deserting Speedway is because they are dying off - we don't need to be reminded. Among other reasons are stupid Rules brought in to please Television Companies and BSI/IMG. You cannot get away from that...............................
  12. Not ALL of the ills Philip - I never said that. Just MOST of them. I could also include SKY too - their ridiculous ideas of making the Sport more exciting. You know what they are. They have taken a TERRIFIC Sport and mucked it about so that it is almost unrecognisable to the Speedway I once knew. The Sport is a mere shadow of what it used to be. Look at the attendances, it's not ALL the Recession. Sadly Speedway is losing it's appeal - I wonder why? It couldn't be these contrived situations - could it? I certainly believe that it does not help.
  13. I just wish BSI/IMG had never got involved with Speedway. The Sport seems to have gone downhill since the start of their involvement.
  14. ??? :t: That's GREAT News for Plymouth Supporters.
  15. Thanks for the tip off screm - I nipped through and watched it. It was good - but - not enough.
  16. Worrying times with the Recession. Folk don't have the disposable income that they used to have what with a Costs rising and Wages fairly static. According to the News yesterday only 20% of Government Cuts have come through and affected us to date. That means there is another 80% to come. Heaven help us. You only have to look at the Utility Price Rises in the pipeline (no pun intended) to see that things are going to get a lot worse by Spring/Summer next year. Let's just hope that Speedway can get through this and survive. I believe it will be that bad.
