  1. Who will they replace him with - Peter Collins or 'Simmo'.
  2. I agree - we need to be more forward looking. I would have given Auty and Roynon a place - as much as anything for the experience. Personally - I don't think TeamGB will win this Meeting. It would have been a great chance for the above mentioned Riders to get sight and feel of the International level that they are aspiring to achieve. Missed opportunity - I think.
  3. Ooops - sorry - I forgot about that. I Posted on impulse - never a good idea. Apologies.
  4. Don't be too sure.........................................
  5. Ouch!! That's definitely not right. The Rider should be paid his dues if this is the case.
  6. ......................it sounds, to me, that the Team has distanced itself from Ryan. I can't say that he would have done better than Watt - I can only say I think he would have been an improvement. Just my opinion.
  7. Canny Team that sidney. :approve:
  8. T I do agree up to a point with that statement Philip. However I think a far greater reason for the dislike for the 'Joker' in this Country is that it simply is not FAIR. Poland won the World Cup a couple of years ago having played their 'Joker', Australia lost because they never got the chance to play their's. Even though the 'Aussies' were the best Team - they LOST because of the 'Joker'. How can that be right? I think it is because of the innate British sense of 'Fair Play' that the 'Joker' is deemed UNFAIR, and I would suggest that as long as the Rule exists it will be subject to manipulation by Team Managers and Riders. The 'Joker' should be dropped as soon as possible in the interests of having a Level Playing Field for all - and - allowing the best Team to win.
  9. I'm sorry Dave - I can't agree with you. The 'Joker' should be scrapped altogether - it cheapens our Sport.
  10. No I don't believe he had an Engine Failure - BUT - the precedence had been set by Pedersen. The 'Joker' is a Joke - it should be laughed out of our Sport. It ruins the Credibility and the Integrity of Speedway - it also encourages dishonesty and gamesmanship as we saw last night.
  11. I would sincerely hope not. No-one will ever know for sure. But once Nicki Pedersen had done the evil deed, who could blame the Riders in the following Heats for trying to do the same to improve their positions in the Meeting. I'm afraid it left a nasty taste in my mouth.
  12. ...............................possibly one of the best comments so far on this Thread. :approve:
  13. I'm sure they will have some input. He who pays the Piper calls the Tune.
  14. ............................and there's the rub Grachan. If SKY like it - then that is all that matters to those in Authority. It is very much a case of them saying s*d the Riders, s*d the Supporters - we need SKY's thirty pieces of silver - so - s*d them ALL!!
  15. Ahhh - but in the context of the Race - which is what everyone is actually watching??? What about that??? Well I must say I feel vindicated. As I said earlier - I have been raving about this stupid 'Joker' Rule for years. Perhaps now the 'Powers that be' will listen to the Riders and Supporters about this pathetic attempt at manipulation and scrap the damned thing altogether.
  16. I think that is a gross assumption. Call what Nicki Pedersen did last night Cheating, Manipulation, Gamesmanship or whatever - I would still be unhappy had it been Holder, Ward or even my favourite Rider Greg Hancock.
  17. I'm sorry - perhaps I have misunderstood all of these years. I always thought that the word RACING mean't trying with all might and main to WIN!!! I felt sure I had been supporting Speedway Racing. Tonights Meeting was great Speedway spoiled by various Riders trying to manipulate the Result of their Heats in the later stages. That is simply - wrong!! The Integrity and Credibility of Speedway has suffered badly tonight. Oh!! - and how classy is Holder??
  18. Not for me it wouldn't - bad Sportsmanship is bad Sportsmanship whether you are from Denmark, Great Britain or Timbuktoo. To elaborate - I don't like the Tactical Ride in League Meetings either - whether it be for my Team or against my Team. Just so you know.
  19. Perhaps I should add my Congratulations to Denmark. They were the best Team on the night. They also have some great prospects coming through. Just sad that they had to use those tactics. Denmark's prospects really do look good for the future thanks to one Erik Gundersen's Training Methods. That is the same Erik Gundersen who offered to help out with training British Riders and whose offer, as far as I know, was ignored by the powers that be.
  20. ........................................are you sure about that?
  21. That's about as credible. Speedway and Integrity don't make comfortable befellows.
  22. Well - I have been rabbiting on about this for years. Joker - WHAT A JOKE!!! Whatever happened to Sportsmanship and Fair Play. No the wonder Speedway is dying. Nicki Pedersen should hang his head in shame.
