  1. I no longer attend Speedway as a lone protest about a single issue (Double Points). I don't like all of this Double Up/Double Down either. That said, I have not lost my interest in Speedway - I just want it to be the very best it can be. I keep myself more or less up to date with what is going on in the Sport, and it grieves me very much to see the state that British Speedway is now in. There are so many things that seem to encourage people not to attend. There is the lack of Fixtures during the Summer, warm nights, and a glut of Fixtures towards the end of the Season (cold nights). Given the age of the majority of Supporters these days - the cold nights are not encouraging. Why then, can't these Fixtures be balanced out over the Season? Lack of consistency as far as Meetings goes is detrimental to continuing Support. It is very easy to find something else to do if your Team isn't riding. When I first started attending back in 1964, Speedway was a weekly Sport. I used to look forward from one week to the next to my Speedway Meeting. Nowadays the weekly involvement doesn't happen at some Tracks, probably most Tracks. I also am not happy at the way the Top League, when anything goes wrong, automatically starts changing things in the lower Leagues. That is discouraging for Supporters of those lower League Clubs also, and may well put some people off attending altogether. I confess that I don't know what the answer is but Speedway simply has to get it's act together if it is to survive as a National, Professional Sport. I look forward to the day when Double Points is no more and I can return to watching Speedway - but it should be on a weekly basis.
  2. At the very least I see this as a hopeful statement. Keeping my fingers crossed for all Coventry Speedway Supporters.
  3. Perhaps the Poles, Swedes and Danes didn't want the Aussies in their raw state, and were happy for them to use British Speedway to bring them up to speed.
  4. I know exactly what will happen - and have said so on a number of occasions. The Public aren't daft - they will see through it - and even more of Speedway's credibilty will sadly, go down the toilet.
  5. That is certainly the way it seems to me. I have thought this for a number of years now. The problem is that the Premier League see the Championship as an inferior League. It may be so in quality of Rider - but it certainly is not in the form of excitement provided to it's Supporters. That is, until, once again the Premier League is short of Teams, Riders etc.. they just come along and proceed to wreck the Championship League. To me, that is all wrong. If Sheffield and Ipswich do go up next year, has anybody asked what effect that will have on the Championship, of course they haven't - they couldn't care less. They will make up the numbers with a couple of National League Teams who, in all probability, will be unable to afford it. This will result in them getting hammered most weeks, Support will fall and those Clubs could/will fail and close down. But - the Premiership must be maintained at all and every cost.
  6. I'm beginning to think that even Sherlock Holmes couldn't find that out.
  7. I've never heard of this before. Could you explain how that works please?
  8. Congratulations Jitendra. I wish you all the very best. Ian.
  9. I honestly don't think they are bothered about that. As long as the Top League survives for Television - they are not interested in the rest. Very short sighted in my opinion.
  10. That would be fine as long as they were brought up to Championship strength. I would not like to think of a Team coming in to the Championship too weak to survive and then closed down. The Promoters Association would need to help them - possibly financially - how would they feel about that?
  11. ............... and what if no National League Team wishes to move up to the Championship League. "Oh - that's all right just let the Championship run with two less Clubs - who cares"? Is what they will probably say. The Supporters of that League may think differently, as I do myself. Why is it that whenever the Top League run in to trouble, they are quite prepared to wreck the League below so that their status is maintained. I have been around a long time - and this has happened before.
  12. Thanks for the reply Dean. As I said - you, at least, know how I feel.
  13. Oh!!! That's OK then - what about the rest of the Championship?
  14. I would like to Vote for it to be scrapped Dean. I am not on Twitter and don't want to be. If you could Vote for me, that would be great. If you can't, I understand, but at least you know how I feel. Ian.
  15. I would like to ask a possibly contraversial questions here. How many Tracks are the 'powers that be' prepared to sacrifice in order to bring this new System in. Speedway Teams currently racing in Greyhound Stadia may find the nights required may not be available to them. What then? Close them down? What about the Supporters?
  16. It seems perfectly simple to me - not just for Speedway Riders either. If you don't like it here 'Sod Off'. As I said - perfectly simple.
  17. Different era, different times. They, mostly, knew how to behave in a different Country.
  18. You come back to British Speedway. Sad but true. Not particularly professional in their attitudes either. I loved the way Leigh Adams handled himself - today's Aussies can't hold a candle to him.
  19. The cynic in me thinks you are right wtg28.
  20. Who are 'us'? I don't think British Speedway are too bothered about 'US'.
  21. I think that BT have done very well by Speedway this year. I would be quite happy for them to continue coverage next year too as long as they pay something for it. Same goes for SKY if they wish to bid for Speedway - I would be happy with that too. As ff says - as long as Television Coverage continues to bring more publicity to the Sport - it has to be good.
