  1. I hope that Ludwig IS part of the 'Diamonds' set up next Season. I enjoyed watching him ride. :approve:
  2. I agree that the old System was not perfect but we are supposed to have progressed - I just think that instead of sticking with the very flawed System that we have at present we should be trying to find a workable System that is Fair to all. Surely THAT is not impossible - or - is it? Ah well - I'm off to smash up a few Looms now.
  3. (Sigh  ) In honesty Dave - probably not. Does that make me a hypocrite - it probably does. Does it make any difference to my detestation of the Rule - no it doesn't - not one jot. The probability is that I will not walk away from Newcastle either when the new Season comes round - but, my goodness I DO feel like it every time I see the Black and White Helmet Cover. Before you comment Dave - it has NOTHING to do with the fact that the Helmet Cover is Black and White. I would feel EXACTLY the same if it was Red and White!! What - even if that word is 'UNFAIR' - I'm surprised at you HT.
  4. THIS is why I complain about the GP Qualification System Iris123. Another possible reason is to make sure that somebody pseudo British is riding at Cardiff (give the locals something to cheer) - ie. Put 'bums' on seats. This could also be done via the 'Wild Card' System. Another rather pathetic System designed to increase Attendances at the various Tracks (it has certainly nothing to do with Sport). Do they not realise that this particular bit of jiggery pokery is costing a bona fide Rider, with a chance of winning the World Championship a place in the Competition? As you say - the Television (SKY) may have had something to do with it too - it doesn't matter - it is wrong. For heavens sake - let's get back to Riders being in the GPs because they have qualified and NOT because of where they come from. Speedway lacks credibility in SO many ways - that should NOT be evidenced in it's, so called, premier Events.
  5. ................and my point is that you cannot have the BEST field ever if Woffinden takes his place instead of a previous GP Winner (Jensen). I have no axe to grind with Woffy - but - the ONLY reason he is in the GP Series is because he is BRITISH (sort of). Well - I am sorry but in my book getting in because of your Nationality is just not right. In fact it is DEAD WRONG!!!
  6. It probably WON'T be on the Television though - SKY have seen to that. As for the Riders in next years GPs - they SHOULD be good - they have been 'PICKED' because they are the BEST Riders, and that is my point 'PICKED'. If you can tell me how Tai Wooffinden gets in to the Series and Michael Jepsen Jensen doesn't, and then say that it is a level playing field to qualify for the World Championship - I would be interested in hearing your reasoning.
  7. Sorry - Regionalisation gets a big NO from me. I like to see variation, the idea of seeing Redcar, Workington etc. every other week would become boring. Before Redcar and Workington Supporters go down my neck - I am only using them as an example.
  8. Fair enough HT - but - they are both, provably, very good arguments. Those arguments should not be dismissed out of hand.
  9. THAT is one view oldace - and I respect it. I just don't agree with you in this instance.
  10. I thought Ostergaard was a very good signing. Totally agree about Kus.
  11. i) Not only newcomers to the Sport. ii) Oh yes it does HT - I know we will never agree on this but believe me - it does.
  12. You are right - I can't stand EITHER of them. Double Standards RUBBISH. I have differing views to you and that is all. The League (Double Points) and the 'Play Offs' have absolutely NOTHING to do with this Thread. Continue to carp on if you must - but - you are on your own.
  13. Sorry - I did not answer your question - no double standards - just didn't. To answer, as I thought I had in previous Posts - the UNPREDICTABILITY of it all - THAT is why. Sometimes it is good when the underdog wins. You, it appears, just want the 'same old, same old'. That is your opinion, as I said - I don't agree with it - BUT - I respect it. Perhaps you should try respecting the other person's point of view.
  14. That's your opinion orion - it is not mine. You are entitled to your view as I am to mine.
  15. Yes he did orion - but - that was my point. The unpredictability of Speedway is one of it's main Assets. Sadly the GP Series has watered down the Competition for World Champion. You would not get a Jerzy Sczakiel winning the World Championship these days - only, perhaps, a GP. THAT is the difference.
  16. Good Post dantodan. :approve: I don't know Darryl but George has ALWAYS been a Supporter of Speedway. He is also a cracking Team Manager in my view. :approve: Hope you are right about the Worrals.
  17. Couldn't agree more.............. :approve: But it IS the unpredictability of it that makes Speedway what it is. More predictable these days because of a number of silly Rules I believe. Regarding the best Rider sometimes doesn't win - brings me back to 1973 when Jerzy Sczakiel became World Champion - few would argue that he was the best Rider in the World, but, by golly he was on the night. That was the beauty of Speedway.
  18. I agree with that totally. Gary has so much to offer the Sport. His experience alone would be a great asset to any Speedway Club.
  19. Not yet my friend - I am still busy emptying a bottle of' Bunnahabhain'. Still a little way to go yet. Slainté screm. Ian
  20. I have just found this Topic. I own the Crewe - When they were 'Kings' Book and will never part with it. Beautifully produced you can find all sorts of information in it. It is easy to read and invaluable as a Reference Work. Very highly recommended. :approve: :approve:
  21. Crikey1874 - you forgot about the PIES. The one's from the Shed at the back of the Pits are to die for - if you want a true culinary experience - treat yourself to one of those PIES. Only one thing better than a PIE at Berwick and that is - TWO of them. Go on - give it a go - you know you want to.
  22. How about each Rider selects a piece of music as his signature tune. Riders walk out individually from the Pits to the row of bikes at the Starting Gate to his own music. Rather like Cricket does in the T20 Matches. It would add a bit of glitz and glamour and I doubt it would cost a lot to do. Their Tune could also be played as each Rider emerges from the Pits to go to the Starting Gate to Race. Obviously each Rider would emerge one at a time - it may add a few seconds between Races - but it might get the youngsters interested. Just an idea. Not even sure if it is practical - but - perhaps worth a thought.
  23. As a practicing Roman Catholic - I don't like blasphemy. I will not reply to you any further on this Thread unless you apologise, at least for that.
