  1. Thank you MrMungo - then I have no problem with him in the National League.
  2. So am I Dave - BUT - are you trying to 'wind people up' or what?
  3. Oops - have I made a boo boo? I would though refer you to Post No. 220.
  4. After I Posted and the re-read my Post I thought you might come back to me on that. It isn't a contradiction because the National League IS a recognised League even though it is basically for producing and Training, and yes, giving Track time to young British Riders - or that is the way it should be. As for paying to watch, my argument that the National League IS a recognised League answers that question. You want to watch League Speedway you have to pay for it.
  5. No BW it wouldn't - but - if he had been PICKED as they do these days - then Yes - it would have.
  6. No - not artificial at all. They do their training at National League level against the odd 'older' Rider (with which I have no problem) and then progress to the Premier/Elite League IF they are good enough. To give foreigners the chance to become better through our Training structure to me seems stupid. If we wish British Speedway to prosper, and I assume we all want that, then priority MUST be given to British Riders. At the end of the day a Speedway Rider is a Speedway Rider be he foreign or British. You can only Race what is alongside you at the Tapes. Who will he ride for at International level. TeamGB no problem. Denmark - then NO he should NOT be allowed in our National League. The clue is in the name.
  7. Not at all - it is sensible. We NEED British Speedway to get back to the top of the pile - we will not do this by giving facilities to Foreign Riders, in some cases (not all) not as good the British Riders who are being forced out. For some reason Promoters seem to think 'Foreign is BEST'. I have news for them sometimes they are right - but - more often they are WRONG.
  8. They will move up knowing that they have done their Training in the National League to Race against Speedway Riders from foreign Lands who have done their Training in THEIR homeland and not on our Tracks. Apart from anything else, that would give them a positive advantage. Why should WE be training Foreigners to ultimately take Team places from British lads - it doesn't make sense. British Tracks training Foreigners to beat us out of sight doesn't help British Speedway either.
  9. I wish the 'Mail' could come back (in the Newspaper form). What a happy time that was. THREE Speedway periodicals to pick from, all were quality productions - how lucky we were in those days. Sadly, things change, and not always for the better. On the plus side, we now have 'BackTrack' and 'Classic' Speedway which is a big consolation. :approve:
  10. I am still hoping to go to Newcastle on Sunday for the Practice. Just have to wait and see - - I suppose.
  11. Sorry HT - I can't agree. There are already far to many Foreign Riders here already. The National League should be for British Riders only. In my opinion that is the only way we will develop as a Speedway Nation. Part of the reason for our current slide in to obscurity is due to us employing Foreigners in place of British talent. How disheartening must it be when some of these Foreigners are brought in by British Clubs and they are no better, and in some cases worse, than the British Riders who are struggling to find a Team place.
  12. Well done that man!!! I hope that you enjoy Virgin - I know I do. .
  13. Go on then - sorry for going ON Topic. http://suziperry.com/index.php/gallery/
  14. There would have been only one winner in that Contest - and it wouldn't be Chris Harris.
  15. Where's Suzy Perry? The question I would like to ask is - WHY do Speedway Meetings have to be kept close 'to maintain interest'. That is rubbish - we are talking about SPORT here. You either win or you lose - you do NOT con the Public by contriving Results. When Man. Utd. are 6-0 up against Sunderland shortly - I can't see Sir Alex Ferguson taking it too well if the F./A. says the next two Goals Sunderland score will count double. It's b****y RIDICULOUS!!
  16. I think that what Parsloes says on this particular point is spot on!! .....................and I do wish you hadn't mentioned the word 'Qualification' BW. It set me thinking (again).............................................................................................
  17. Hope you've got your THERMAL Vest and Trousers on. I will for Practice Day at Newcastle on Sunday. I will also have my Blanket, Deckchair, Flask and Sandwiches - in case anyone was wondering.
  18. I loved the 'Mail'. It had a character all of it's own. I used to get the 'Star', 'Express' and 'Mail' I enjoyed the other two very much - but - I LOVED the 'Mail'. :approve: I actually preferred the tabloid style too.
  19. Yes my friend - we have. :) I just like to be part of the action - that's all oldace.
  20. Well I actually agree with sidney on the bit you highlighted.
